After long last and the motherload of neverending drama, Conan O’Brien finally returned to late-night. Last night, his TBS show debuted. Did you watch it? Ratings watchers say that you probably did – apparently 3.25 million homes tuned in to watch. Personally, I watched a few minutes of the opening, and then I switched over to The Daily Show just in time to see Jon Stewart joking about Bill Maher. That probably isn’t a good sign for Coco… his key demographic is probably The Daily Show’s key demo too. Who will the young people choose in the long run? Eh.
Here’s Coco’s open… with a Jon Hamm cameo!!! That was the best part, honestly. I mean, it was all funny, but THE HAMM.
It wasn’t perfect, but it was nice to see the guys back.
For those of us who’ve always loved Conan, it was fine. It just needs time to get its legs.

I was watching The Daily Show and then Family Guy on Adult Swim…but glad Conan is back doing what he loves. He is awesome.

I like Conan though. Hope he does well.

I watched it, and it was great. Classic Conan. Love him, and I hope this works out for him. Of course, Rickey Gervaise did a HYSTERICAL video for him, just in case it doesn’t 🙂

I was watching The Daily Show…never been a fan of Conan.
I did! It was good, I like the new set, and I think once they’ve had a chance to settle in and get past all the newness, it will be great. Loved the Jack White stuff, but I dislike Seth Rogen so I could have done without him being the guest.
I love Stewart/Colbert too, but usually watch them the next day, so I think I’ll be watching Conan at 11 from now on.
I don’t really know people who will watch late night talk shows faithfully so I’m not sure how Conan is going to do it but I do like him more than the others.

Enjoyed it, but like you also watched a little Daily show as well. To this who ask the question re: ratings- all either shown needs are consistent 3 day a week viewer, to be a hit with the demo. I think both will be able to pull it off. Friday’s could belong to Conan because the Daily Show doesn’t air.
Conan’s opening was cute, but then again I am a little old to be a Conan fan (18-34 demo)but still fall in the larger 18-49 a key secondary demo for both show.
So happy Conan and Andy are back together! Like peanut butter and jelly!

I watched it and I’m so happy he’s back! I do wish he was on at 11:30 though. I like to watch the 11:00 news. Did anyone see the ad with Conan where he is in India (I think?) The ad is for….hmmm…Amex maybe? It was great.

I thought it was funny enough. Like most talk shows they don’t leave enough time to talk to their guests though in this case I’ll give him a pass. I thought Rogen was painful then Lea Michele came on. Like nails running down a blackboard.
Go Coco, I think he said he has Tom Hanks tonight – don’t have another guest, just talk to Tom the whole night!
It was good and it reminded me of the old Conan pre-Tonight Show clusterfuck); he and Andy still have great chemistry.
WTF is Seth Rogen ON??? He really should have taken advantage of his Medical Marijuana card before going on last night so he could mellow the hell out. LOL.

I saw it. It was ok. I always watch The Daily Show and Family Guy around that time, but I watched Conan this time.
I like Conan and hope he does well. It seemed strange at first because it didn’t seem as energetic – like not enough people in the audience.
I hope this works for him, because I like him – but I think he’s not back to his usual happy go lucky self. Maybe he lost a little confidence, hopefully will be back.

The show was great. Conan’s still got it, baby. And I had no idea he could sing and play guitar like that!
He looked very nervous. And I wish they’d shake up the format a bit (even that set)… the whole thing wouldn’t look out of place in 1965, and not in a good Mad Men kind of way — just tired.
Speaking of MM, yes, Jon Hamm part was the best. Can he have a cameo on every episode of any show. I’d watch that.

one thing I COMPLETELY don’t agree with is the comparison to Dane Cook. That frat-boy douche isn’t fit to carry Conan’s jock.
I adore Conan, so happy to see him back. The Don Draper bit was hilarious. Seth Rogan also annoys the crap out of me – he sounds like he’s always yelling and he needs to calm down. He also seems a little like “I’m so awesome, worship me” which is off-putting. Leah Michelle is an idiot who giggles too much, I fast forwarded through that except when Conan was making fun of her half naked pics. The jam session with Jack White was really fun! Anyway LOVE Conan and great to see him back!
I’ve never watched Conan other than clips on youtube. I don’t care for the red-headed bobblehead. I think he’ll be JUST fine.
I like his humor for being so silly, playful, borderline ridiculous and very imaginative. Its more innocent and less scandalous, vindictive, or negative than a lot of public figures talk and act. Especially talk shows– people I think are used ot biting and side taking mentalities– all I pick up from Conan, though, is that he pokes at himself more than anything and is a softie- but I guess thats too boring for most folk.

Conan used to play the guitar occasionally on Late Night but it was impressive to see him play with Jack White.
I watched it and it was awesome and I second the poster who brought up Ricky Gervais. His bit was HILARIOUS! And Andy was just on point. I wish he had more exciting guests.
I mean I like Lea Michelle but I didn’t think she’s a good first night guest. Her interview on Conan just seemed so .. robotic. She gives me this vibe of forced charm which makes her almost unbearable to watch as an interviewee.
But beyond that I’m so excited for Conan. I’ve loved him for years and his musical guests are always the BEST!
I remembered at 11:30 and couldn’t find TBS so I ended up watching Letterman instead Harrison Ford was very funny. But I am going to try to watch tonight.
Of course I watched Conan!! Daily Show, not so much.
Intentionally didn’t switch to that channel because I’m not a big Conan fan. I’m glad his fans do get to see him now, though. Used to be a Jay fan, but haven’t watched him since all that went down. Craig is my man now. 🙂

No. IMHO he has overdone his poor me schtick – which is getting very old and no longer edgy much less funny. He didn’t get the ratings when he took over the Tonight show so I question where all his fans were then. I was never a fan but then I had to get up at 5am each morning and his show didn’t come on until 11:30 so I was fast asleep. I hope he drops the bitterness routine and they all do well.
