A few months ago, Katie Holmes completed filming her part in The Kennedys, a miniseries produced by The History Channel (it will air there too). The Kate-Bot was cast of Jackie Kennedy, to everyone’s surprise. There were various photos from the set that we never covered because we didn’t have the photos, but Katie wore a Jackie wig and she wore those mod little shift dresses in some makeshift Hyannis Port set. Good times. Anyway, above is the poster for the mini-series. Don’t even get me started! Before I get to Katie, why does a mini-series need a poster again? Where are people going to hang this poster, ideally? Okay, back to Katie… er…ugh… that’s HER. On the poster. Didn’t recognize her? Is it Photoshop? Did the makeup guy hate her?
Honestly, I don’t even think it’s makeup. Because getting Katie Holmes to look vaguely like Jackie Kennedy really can’t be that difficult. Getting Katie to look like this, however, takes some effort. She’s looks like Gollum photo-bombing The Furrowed Brow Club.
Meanwhile, Greg Kinnear is really going to pull off JFK, isn’t he? And I never would have thought of Barry Pepper for RFK, but that’s not bad. Tom Wilkinson is… Joe Senior? I could see that. Yes, that’s who he is. Sigh… I’ll watch this. I’m a sucker for The History Channel, so I’ll watch it even though Katie looks like Gollum.

Greg Kinnear and Tom Wilkinson are amazing, as is the History Channel, so I’d bet this isn’t a bad production. Hopefully Katie Holmes’ appearances are minimal. And about the poster – I know it seems kind of ridiculous, but a lot of miniseries these days have posters. I had a “Band of Brothers” poster in my dorm room for years, and I’ve seen posters for John Adams, etc. If it’s something the network or studio is really pulling out all the stops for, they’ll usually make a poster for it, too, so this isn’t that out of the ordinary. At the very least, they’re going to need SOMETHING to go on the IMDB profile and website, right?
Love Greg Kennear too, although he does not seem too much like JFK to me.
While physically Katie Holmes resembles Jackie, I think her vibe is a little too Eeyore to play the First Lady of Camelot.
I adore Greg Kinnear, he’s very underrated as an actor, imo. I can’t stand Katie. I’ll likely see it at some point.
Well its not gonna look like Katie Holmes because she is supposed to be Jackie Kennedy. They did alot to the poster to. They will probably use this image on a DVD if they release one. Also for any print advertisement they may do for the series, also if they get any nominations this is the image they will use or a screencap.
I think it looks fine. I can’t wait to see it.
Love Greg Kinnear, and it’s interesting he and Katie are working together again…they were in The Gift together. I think he’s gonna pull it off!

Personally, though elegant, I thought Jackie was boring. So in that respect Katie is perfect.

I feel Katie is suffering from overflowing Tom Cruise hatred, as you guys are being hypercritical. Objectively the poster is not as bad as you imply, and groans from characters regarding her acing in the piece are speculative. I don’t think Katie Holmes is a good actress but she may be alright.
That’s the problems with Blogs though I guess; they’re for the most part, just peoples opinions that they try to justify as reason, and then reader refer to them as evidence justifying their similar feelings.
I think they lost a PR opportunity with the poster. Katie is trying to project Jackie’s iconic, classic repose… her very powerful stillness. But Katie’s image is disappointingly vapid, failing to project the captivating and potent intelligence that lurked behind Jackie’s calm facade.

I don’t like how she looks here. But I think she is beautiful. However, she is a glaring example of how raising a little kid can wear you down. She looks exhausted a lot and I don’t like her fashion. But when she cleans up, she is very beautiful.
In Hollywood, you can tell who is really raising their own kids and it’s not the ones with the perfect hair and nails, outfits, etc.

I love Katie, but it wasn’t until she married Tom, I thought she was a nothing actress who got lucky, now i see how smart and adaptable she is, she should do a good job of Jacq… despite TOM!!!!
I like Greg Kinear, but no to Katie Holmes. I doubt she’d have been cast in half the stuff she’s been in since Batman Begins if she weren’t married to Tom Cruise. She’s just not much of an actress, not that hot, and, honestly, if it weren’t for her marriage, I think she’d be pretty forgettable overall.
No to Katie Holmes. But who knows, maybe she will surprise me. She was a good little actress when she was younger before she became a Stepford wife. But she messed her looks up when she had her nose job, thinned her nose, and now the end looks a little off. I liked her cute wider nose on her face better.
