I think Katie Holmes could have pulled off acting on Broadway. Unfortunately, she brings alot of her personal life baggage with her. She has been cold & conceited acting when I've seen her on talk shows. She needs to promote just herself, not that she's Mrs. Tom Cruise, that will not get her anywhere.
