I have two good friends who are evidence of this--absolutely brilliant women with advanced degrees who are inevitably drawn to complete losers every. Single. Time. There are men who are the same way (apparently my brother is one of them--sigh). I think Amy falls in this category. Except that she's stupid about drugs, too.
