Nicole Kidman has a baby girl (update: Sunday Rose Kidman Urban: 6 lbs., 7.5 oz)

Some celebrities seem pregnant forever, some try to hide their pregnancy as long as possible and keep their due date is a mystery, and others don’t seem pregnant at all despite all their efforts to let us know. Nicole Kidman, whose mother hinted to the Australian press that she was due in July, gave birth to a baby girl in Nashville this morning. Nicole didn’t seem to show much and I would have guessed she had at least a month or two more to go.

There are no other details from People.com, except an insider quote that Nicole’s “never been happier and healthier.”

Over the weekend Nicole’s husband, Keith Urban, told concertgoers in Nashville that he wanted to dedicate his song “Better Half” to his “very, very, very, very, VERY pregnant wife.”

Congratulations to Nicole and Keith and we hope mother and baby are doing well. These two seem like the type to pose for photos with their newborn and I bet we’ll be seeing that spread in a month or two.

Update: People has provided more details in their story. The baby is called Sunday Rose Kidman Urban and weighed a healthy 6 lbs., 7.5 oz. Nicole’s spokesperson said “Husband Keith was by Nicole’s side, and mother and baby are very well.”

  2. Nicely! Rumour has it she’s called Summer-anyone confirm?

  3. Summer Urban?

It’s the Urban that’s at fault here, not the Summer, I think Summer’s a pretty name. Hopefully she will marry young and take her new husband’s name. :D

I’m happy for them. I know she’s wanted this a long time, and can’t wait to see the pictures.

  4. No, she is called: Sunday Rose Kidman Urban! Congs Nicole.

Wow Connor is surrounded by only sisters.

  5. @ Lola: Sunday? Well I guess it could be worse but any unconventional named paired with “Urban” is just gonna sound weird. I suppose her nickname will be Sunny or something like that which is cute.

  8. Yeah Cassie, it is Sunday, but I hope they call her Rose, such a beautiful name.

I wonder what she looks like. I can’t imagine what a spawn of Nicole and Keith looks like. I am just seeing Naomi Watt’s son.

  11. I heard the baby’s name is Sunday. If that is true, what a ridiculous name. I know Tuesday is a girl’s name but Sunday?

  12. Mercy! Has absolutely nobody here ever heard the poem containing:
“Sunday’s child is full of grace”?

Especially to an open Catholic like Nicole, Sunday isn’t a “trendy” sort of name…and I think it’s quite pretty aside!

  14. So Sunday was born on a Monday?

I hope they call her Rose. Much prettier. I’m still shocked she had a full-term baby, she just looked very gassy.

  17. I think I like Summer better than Sunday, but it’s quite pretty.

Sunday Urban makes me think of the old Kris Kristofferson song, “Sunday Morning Coming Down.” I have no idea why.

  21. Nicole seems like the type to pick “Rose”. I bet anything daddy came up with “Sunday”. So country.

  22. Kaiser/ Hippacrat:

    *wringing hands*
Okay, I’ll say it. This whole thing is fishy as hell. Where are the pap picks from Nicole arriving at the hospital? I’m still not buying it. There’s a whiff of fraud in the air.

  23. The reason their aren’t alot of pics…so far… is that they are living outside of Nashville, and the paps don’t hang there. Good for them. I would prefer that my vaginal activities remain private too if I were her ;-)
Also, I have heard they paln on calling her Sunny…very cute. I am so happy for them both!

  24. Sunday… that’s worse than Moses!

Anyway, congrats to mommy, daddy and baby! Nicole waited so long to have her own biological bundle of joy, she deserves all the happiness she can get.
And if they call her Sunday Rose, and not just Sunday, it should be alright.

But am I the only one who thinks this would have been just slightly better if spelled “Sundae”? Desserts are better than weekdays in my book.

  25. As a Tennessee gal, I have to agree with Ron about paparazzi pics… There are tons of country stars out and about in Nashville–Alan Jackson fancies one of my family’s favorite restaurants, for example, we see him and his wife there frequently–but I’ve never seen photographers. It’s a much quieter culture, and frankly a lot more respectful of people’s right to privacy, I’d venture, than LA…

Sunday is stupid I agree. The baby was born on Monday.

  30. WHY feel sorry for Katie Holmes? She’s an adult. She is not a prisoner. She made the choice to marry Tom and stay with him.

  33. After carrying a child for nine months a woman has earned the right to name her child whatever she wants to. And Sunday can always legally change her name when she is older if she does not like it, like so many other famous people.

  35. Maybe there was an artistic reason for the name. Sundays are usually very beautiful days…have you seen Sunday Roses? Keith Urban is an artist, you know. Congratulations to Nicole. I know she waited a long long long time for this after years of disappointment and heartache. She can name her baby damn well whatever she wants as long as it isn’t Suri.
