Elisabetta Canalis has a job, thank you very much. She has a part in an Italian film called A Natale Mi Sposo, and she’s been promoting the thing over the past few days, including a leather-clad premiere (photos here) and a acid-washed jean-clad photo call (these are the photo call photos). Even before her recent appearance on Clooney’s arm at a human rights gala, I had been wondering what Eli was up to. She and Clooney have been mysteriously quiet for several months now. What is up with them? Are they just hanging out in Italy, doing crazy sex stuff? In my mind, that crazy stuff would get boring after a while, you know? How many times can the leather hood and harness really be titillating?
Anyway, Eli has a job and she’s a real actress and everything. Do you think Clooney bought and paid for Eli’s job? Could be. Let’s hope she’s a better actress in Italian than she is in English.
Also – why do I always find her so mannish? Maybe it’s the jacket – they make her shoulders look really big and powerful (just the way Clooney likes?). I’m honestly not trying to be a bitch, but someone told me that she was born a man, I would believe it.

I live in Italy and I can say a couple of things:
First of all: she sucks in Italian as she does in English.
Second: she doesn’t have a true “acting” gig, the movie is what here we call a “cinepanettone”, which is typical and stupid Christmas movie, and I suppose she is the “hot” piece of it; It seems to me she’s just done something like that, but I’m not sure. Here (sigh) she was famous before this crappy relation, so George didn’t have to pay for this.

It´s her face structure. It does have a mannly vibe, but I like that look. In my opinion she is really beautiful.
It’s not the jacket – she just has more masculine looking facial features. It’s something with the jawline and eyebrows, I think.

I think she’s pretty. Sure, there is something mannish about her face, but I appreciate that her looks are unique. Usually I can’t differentiate between most of those blonde actress/model/singer-types w/ the button noses(ie AnnaLynne McCord, Diane Kruger, Dianna Agron, Blake Lively, Kaley Cuoco, Ashley Simpson, Malin Akerman, Elizabeth Banks, et al).
That’s not to say I don’t find this woman very annoying. And I did cackle out loud when I read comment #3.
It’s weird — sometimes she looks really pretty to me, sometimes she looks post-op (not that there’s anything wrong with that).

I think it’s the strong jawline and the way she poses,head tilted up and back so that you could see her neck muscles and her veins(as I have seen in many previous pictures)also when she smiles (or not) you see lots of muscles around her mouth.I think her and George have the same jaw line(only kidding!)I think George may be telling her to lay low for a while,while he’s been away in other words stay out of trouble.
I think it’s the heavy eyebrows (yes, they are supposed to make you look younger, but not everyone can pull them off) together with short/average length eyelashes. You might not even notice it when looking at her, but (in theory at least) that combination suggests masculinity to the subconscious. (Of course there are many other visual cues that tell our brains she’s female, but since the eyes dominate the face, I think this is what’s triggering a lot of peoples’ reactions.)
Edit to add: You can test this for yourself- just block out her eye area on any of those pictures above and you’ll notice her face instantly looks more feminine.
I’m from Italy…and Elisabetta is a dumb if not more as Celebitchy suggests…and let’s not talk about acting…just a fine, gorgeous, wonderful piece of woman, nothing else…

Don’t know if she looks mannish or not (a bit of both?), but that outfit is a travesty. No excuse to dress like that when you live in Italy with lots of moola (probably George’s actually). Honestly, I’m not *just* trying to be a bitch, I do find her very masculine. My take is that it’s something to do with her jawline and neck. I swear, every photo of her I’m like “Is that an Adam’s apple?”
She doesn’t help matters with the way she often poses for photos with her head thrown back like a horse, either.

She is manly looking. With loads of makeup, the right angle, kind lighting and photoshop, she can look good in some photos. I think these photos were retouched. She reminds me of the two-face woman on an episode of Seinfeld, who was scary looking except in just the right lighting. I agree that she also has manhands. On some blogs, people have pointed out for months that her body is weird, including that she is bowlegged. She is way too thin, probably due to overusing the white powder for which she is also known in Italy. The extra thinness accentuates her bowlegs, as could be seen when she’s worn dresses. I’m thinking she’s wearing pants in the hopes that they don’t show her bowleggedness quite as much as dresses.
The season finale of Leverage airs in late December, which is why George allowed her that photo op at the Ripple of Hope awards. He didn’t sit next to her or directly across from her at the awards. They don’t have kinky sex or any kind of sex. This has been nothing but a publicity contract from the beginning.
Another thing that is manly about her looks is her thick, wide neck. Women’s necks are normally thinner than their jawlines, but on Canalis, her neck is about the same width as her jawline, giving it a muscular and masculine appearance.
i actually think she should go shorter with her hair-maybe chin length w/some light layers of some kind…it would soften the look.

She’s not unattractive, but she is very mannish looking. I don’t actually think she’s transgendered, but if I didn’t know of her and someone showed me a photo claiming it was a transgendered woman I’d believe it.
When she was younger her face was fuller and she was very pretty and feminine. She’s not ugly at all, but I get that some of you may find her masculine.
She already starred in a “cinepanettone” (aka s*itty movie which is supposed to be funny but is just stupid) before she met GC, and in movies like this all you need is to be pretty, no acting skills required. Among other things the main character in those movies is Christian de Sica, the guy who plays the policeman who interrogates (it seems) Johnny Depp in The Tourist.
Lastly, I love her outfit. I would definitely buy a jacket like that, in faux leather, though.

Her jaw is as wide as her neck and in some photo’s, it looks even wider than her neck. It’s also incredibly square and sharp angled. She probably has an adam’s apple. I think Clooney has lusted after Cindy Crawford for years and this is as close as he could get.

This girl does NOT look like Cindy Crawford. Only in the best lighting with piles of makeup and at the perfect angle does she look even remotely attractive.
