Last night was the big gala premiere for Black Swan in New York. I know it seems like there has already been a ton of “premieres” for this particular film, but I think a lot of them were screenings and film festival premieres and such. But last night was a big deal – all of the cast were assembled, and Natalie Portman had her pose-hard bitchface at the ready. Here’s a question, for all of us out here in the cheap seats: Why is Natalie looking so crabby and bitchy during this film’s promotion? She’s considered one of the leading candidates for the Best Actress Oscar, and she will likely be the centerpiece of a larger Black Swan Oscar push. Why look so “over it” and nasty? Anyway, Natalie and her bitchface were in Dior, a cosponsor for the premiere. One thing I’ll give her – the bitch can wear the hell out of some red lipstick. Right?
Meanwhile, I guess Mila Kunis got a memo that only the “star” of the film could wear Dior, because she donned a lovely cream Elie Saab. I really like this dress – in fact, I’m pretty much in love with Mila’s whole wardrobe throughout the Black Swan promotional tour. Where Natalie looks surly, uncomfortable and at times occasion-inappropriate, Mila has been nailing every look and every occasion.
And of course, my Vincent Cassel. His face is just so beautiful (to me).
Winona Ryder in all-black. I’m surprised she didn’t go with another strapless, tutu-esque gown. I give her points for wearing a suit. But she’s giving me a really hardcore goth flashback from my youth.

Natalie’s hair is way too casual for that dress. Her hair sort of always looks like I want to smack some color on it to give it some depth. It’s a little too Dawson’s Creek.
mila looks GORGEOUS and i love her dress…natalie does look surly lol, great word choice. i usually think she looks really pretty but she’s lookin pretty rough lately esp here and i could take or leave her dress.
The dress looks like it’s slipping off of her, the straight long hair, it all looks so droopy. The whole thing just feels sad.
Natalie needs to either get a stylist, or hire a new one because she’s looked frumpy lately. She also has looked really bored/disgruntled in some of her recent red carpet appearances. The surly-face does not suit her.
I like Mila’s dress, but it seems like her neck has disappeared into the dress. Maybe it’s the camera angle? Maybe it’s the way she is holding herself?
Winona should have gotten her jacket tailored a bit. She should have at least left the top buttons on her blouse undone. Or she could have not worn a blouse and instead paired this look with a well tailored jacket and a black bustier underneath. She looks uncomfortable.
I am of course wearing sweat pants, therefore I am an expert at dressing for success…

Natalie is a bitch so her bitchface is appropriate. And I have to disagree with you on the lipstick, it looks terrible on her, especially with her yellow complexion.
In the top pic, I love the “unintended” artistic effect of the dress disappearing into the black background. Cool perspective.

I think Natalie’s makeup is too pale & the dress ill-fitting. Mila looks great & Winona Forever!!! She’s totally wearing a Veronica Sawyer outfit. You know there’s a blue scrunchy tucked up under her sleeve.
gah! fashion fails! winona, open your damn collar a little and show some skin! she looks like a preacher in a border town circa 1889. and natalie, that sad goth dress, with no jewelry does nothing for you! or your boobs. or that dumb book clutch. it looks like she just came from the damn library. kunis looks ok, but this isnt the most flattering thing she has ever worn either. in general, portman has been wearing the MOST TERRIBLE crap lately, save that fuchsia goddess drapey dress.
on another note, I did hear a great interview with portman on NPR and vincent cassel. she was talking about her role and training for the movie, and she is intelligent and well spoken, and actually not smug or self-satisfied. she just needs a new stylist.
I don’t love the dress but I do like it. It’s kind of swan-esque.
I think her makeup is beautiful. I see her skintone as blue-based—-very cool—no yellow undertones I can detect.
That uber dark, blue-red lipstick would be hard for most people but she carries it off, with the black dress, extremely well. Very dramatic.
Wish she’d smile. It would be nice if she gave off even a hint of gratitude for her many blessings.

wow Winona looks the way she did in her twenties. She’s always been so beautiful. Good luck to her on her journey back on top. Her scandal back then doesn’t look half as bad as the scandals the new starlets create intentionally for fame.
I don’t like the lipstick or the dress; Way too severe for someone her age! Mila looks awesome- love her dress. Not sure why but Natalie Portman leaves me cold. I remember reading an article once where she was chastising the world for eating meat and wearing leather on their feet- she only wears VEGAN shoes. (Now you can picture her clomping around in hollowed out potato’s.)

Portman looks exquisite (the dress, the color combo, wow!) but looks seriously annoyed or ill.
I’ve never understood the fuzz around Portman. She might be talented but the girl is rather plain looking to me. And she looks terrible here, that makeup does nothing for her already smug/bitchface.

The lipstick with a jet black dress is lovely- but the dress could be slightly better fitted and her hair could have a little more oomph to it.
Both Natalie and Mila are so damn gorgeous that even when they don’t look their best, they still look pretty amazing.

There was a legnthy interview with Vincent Cassel on NPR last night. You would have loved it. He’s quite a character. Grew up in a quasi-castle that served as a casino and theater. His bedroom was a dressing room. He said his parents were both dancers and performers, and there was very little supervision. He would sneak into the theater on Saturday nights to catch the late night pornographic showings.
I recommend it, if you really are a fan. He was not on my radar until the interview started and I could now change the station!
Mila looks beautiful. Natalie looks like she is a member of the Volturi. Winona just looks dried up. I wish Winona would try and look a little more feminine, that goth look just doesn’t work for her.

@Sandy I think Winona is a great actress. Age of innocence was boring but hardly her fault. She wasnt even the lead. Scorcese is not good at that style of film. Winona is great in Little Women, How to make an american quilt, girl interrupted, even in heathers and so on. It makes me sad that she isnt getting more work right now.
Love the dress and the book clutch but she needs to wear her hair in an updo with that outfit. And dark red lipstick makes her look vampirish.

I’ve read that Natalie was an entitled little wench and now that she is appearing more in connection with this movie, I’m believing it. Smile & have fun for pete’s sake and stop taking yourself so seriously.
I’m not crazy about her or Mila’s dresses. Natalie’s looks like it is hanging on her through the torso & makes her look very boxy. Mila’s, while it shows off her figure, just looks so older lady to me — like something that Helen Mirren would wear (and totally rock) but to conservative for a girl in her 20s.
I wonder if maybe Portman is growing into an eccentric woman. I mean, she has had amazing acclaimed success as an actress since a young age. Maybe she is just not a bubbly girl, but an eccentric person who feels more serious as she is getting older. I don’t know. I just don’t think she looks like a bitch.

Uber chic. Why is this even being considered a possible bad move. It’s glamorous, old school hollywood. It isn’t trashy, and we can see the delicate design complementing her beautiful skin, I think it’s a homerun…especially for someone who doesn’t have many fashion home-runs. IMHO.

I think Natalie is starting to look old. I don’t even think it’s the dress or makeup, her face’s structure looks about 10 years older than she is. Bitchface isn’t helping matters, she needs to smile to keep her cheeks up.
Natalie doesn’t seem to come off well in candid shots – looks like she’s giving Mila the sideways bitch look in the last shot but then again she has the same expression in the 2nd picture. Maybe she just can’t play well with others.

I have a two year old who LOVES Elmo and one of our favorite Elmo videos on YouTube is one where Natalie “co-stars”. She’s so cute and funny in the video- she’s wearing an elephant suit (not to mention she’s cheery and happy), I am having a hard time believing this is the same woman!! She has been looking so miserable lately in the photos I’ve seen of this movie premier. The movie trailer makes it seems like its a dark film so maybe that has something to do with her bitch-face..?
Natalie is beautiful and this dress does he rno favors. Also her makeup is to harsh for someone her age. Love Milas dress. These are possibly the 2 prettiest and very talented young actresses in Hollywood. I appreciate that they arent running around partying all night, with their photos in tabloids week after week for getting arrested for drugs, dating bad guys, etc. Kudos to them both.

Mila really is stealing Natalie’s ‘thunder’ walking the carpets for these premieres. She looks just beautiful, but in a very understated sort of way. Like she’s not trying to drop dead gorgeous, she just *is*.
I don’t understand Natalie’s fashion choices lately. Maybe hearing she’s ‘beautiful’ so many times has gone to her head… making her think she can wear anything and still be stunning. Her face is still beautiful, but everything else about this outfit is just a mess.
