Nicole Kidman revealed in an interview last year that she had a miscarriage right around the time that Tom Cruise filed for divorce in 2001. She said that she also suffered an ectopic pregnancy early in their marriage in 1990 and that “It was incredibly traumatic for me.” Kidman and Cruise adopted Isabella, now 15, and Connor, 13, after her first failed pregnancy.
Both Kidman, 41, and Cruise, 46, have found new partners and have biological children with them. Cruise has daughter Suri, 3, with his third wife Katie Holmes, 29, and Kidman just had her first baby with country singer and second husband, Keith Urban, 40.
Sunday Rose Kidman Urban was born Monday morning in Nicole and Keith’s hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. As a congratulatory gesture Cruise sent Kidman enough flowers to fill a whole room:

Kidman and husband Keith Urban welcomed their first child, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban on July 7.
“She has had hundreds of bouquets of flowers from well-wishers,” ” a source told the UK’s Daily Mirror, noting that “Tom was one of the first people to get in touch and he sent her enough flowers to fill a room.”

The originating paper is the Daily Mirror, so this could be completely made up. It does sound like something Cruise would do and it’s a nice gesture. Katie Holmes is also said to have sent Nicole a gift. She supposedly had a high end baby gift basket made up and sent to Nicole from Neiman Marcus ahead of the birth.
You can’t help but think that Nicole would rather Tom and Katie send over her children Isabella and Connor to meet their new baby sister. By most accounts the teens are not allowed to see much of their mother Nicole, who doesn’t follow their Scientology belief system or lifestyle. You hardly ever see the children photographed with Nicole and she has spoken longingly about them in interviews. When Oprah asked Tom Cruise on that massive special about him if Kidman got to see her kids, Cruise looked uncomfortable and didn’t directly answer the question. He just said “We share custody whenever. Whenever. That’s what it is.”
Whenever is just about never for Kidman. But she has a new baby of her own now, and a bunch of flowers that are going to get thrown out in less than a week.
THAT’S NICE AND KIND. I HOPE NICOLE IS ENJOYING BEING A MOM.

Here’s what is widely suspected: Cruise was NOT the father of either of Kidman’s miscarriages…his rep acted shocked when told about the 2001 miscarriage, which means Nicole likely was cheating.
No big deal, since she was a beard for Cruise anyway.
Cruise had to rush out and find an already-pregnant Holmes to pass off as his own biological child…Suri is NOT his kid!!

I think that is so silly (the rumors that Suri is not his child). To me she looks like Tom. She’s got his slanty eyes.
I don’t think it’s an especially nice gesture, I find it invasive and really not very good manners. A man and woman produce a child together, and the ex-husband, wealthier and more famous, fills a room with flowers for her? How does the husband feel? The baby is Keith and Nicole’s, Keith should be sending her the flowers. It would be more polite to have sent the basket from the two of them and maybe let Connor and Bella send something to their new sister. Not that they will be allowed to meet her.

Bohdi; I agree. I did read a while back that part of the Scientology induction is to pry the recruit’s fantasies and secrets. The article speculated they use that info to keep you in the fold and in line. They must have something on Nicole to keep her away from her older children.

Either way, the issues of miscarriages and pregnancy problems are extremely personal and that is probably why there is a vague cloud around Nicole’s past. Of course Tom comes off as a bit, well, off, but his children are personal issues as well and maybe the two of them just agree to not talk about them in order to save them from the craziness that follows everywhere they go.
Why does that mean she might have been cheating? If things seemed like they weren’t going well with the marriage, maybe she hadn’t told him yet, and then things went really wrong all around.
Could be some Tom in there…or there could be some Dick or Harry…hard to know. But Suri is the spitting image of Katie.

I wonder how her children feel about her. They are no doubt limited to very little contact with those outside the so called religion – even if it’s your own mother. It must be heartbreaking for Nicole, although she does fall into the role of victim rather well. I can’t help but wonder if someone else would have fought a bit more for contact with her children.
Now I can see that Suri looks like Tom Cruise, I had my doubts. I wonder what Nicole’s baby looks like.

As for Isabella and Connor… I heard they weren’t living with either parent, but with Cruise’s sister.
Here’s some interesting stuff ex-Scientology insider Marc Headley had to say about the Cruise/Kidman divorce… it seems perfectly possible that she finally got pregnant with his child, and Scientology handlers used his insecurity about how fertility to turn him against her.

And I agree that a load of flowers are a nice gesture, but arranging that she can see their kids more often would really mean something. I’m sure those two are on the courses right now that teach them to disconnect from their mother, and that the only reason they see her at all is for pr reasons..
Heaven forbid TinyTom might not shoehorn his way into the picture somehow.
interesting how tom cruise hates his father for deserting him, his mom and sisters yet he is raising his adopted kids as a single parent (i don’t count katie holmes as a parent-she is only 12 years older than them).

Considering the fact that Scientologists believe that women who suffer miscarriages do so because they secretly don’t want the baby, it’s no wonder that Tom dumped Nicole after she suffered two. L. Ron Hubbard is the biggest woman-hater to make up such a thing – he clearly had mommy issues. I wish Nicole nothing but the best with her third child but also hope she can strengthen the bond with the other two before they suffer the same brainwashing as their father and stepmother.
I dunno. I think its nice of TOm. I think he has every right to be happy for her. They were married for 10 years, whatever that marriage consisted of it was a marriage. He was with her during lost pregnancies and I think it makes sense that he’d be happy for her. Knowing she’s always wanted this etc.

This is a kind gesture from Tom. He should not be the on earranging for Nicole to see more of her kids. Nicole should be making more effort. She doesn’t even have a house in LA. If it was Tom Cruise on the other side of the fence not seeing his kids often, he would be attacked. I don’t feel sorry for Nicole. I hope she is happy with Sunday Rose.

I think there might have been kindness behind the gesture, but his treatment of Nicole in the past makes one believe this is just disengenious.

She is not a bad mum – she doesn’t have a choice. IF she tries to get her kids out of the Co$, she will be forced to disconnect from them. She will be considered an SP (if she isn’t already). this is why i believe that nicole not only miscarried Toms’ baby in 1990, but that the one she lost in 2001 during their separation /divorce was also tom cruise’s:some years ago, when he was on OPrah,and all that fuss was made about Tom jumping up and down on the couch: in all the years before, he probably thought he could never naturally father a child..after he and kidman broke up, he probably had tests done on himself,and found out that he could,in fact, actually become a birth dad..that is what got him so excited,jumping up and down on the couch..remember how he looked? like he had a happy secret he did not want to say out loud..and that is why he set out to find a much younger woman of child bearing age,katie holmes…here is the other thing about him and nicole: nicole kidman got pregnant with tom’s baby for the 2nd time in dec.2000,then filed for divorce from him in feb 2001.she then lost the baby in march 2001.during their separation and upcoming divorce,after they had been so nasty to each other in the tabloids for months,up to the summer of 2001,they suddenly decided to make a “truce” and stop their nonsense,to stop hurting their two adopted children with all that bad publicity,and finally complete their divorce negotiations.But here is what i heard as the real story from an insider: dur. nicole’s 2nd pregnancy,which began in december 2000,tom claimed the baby was not his.this is when nicole decided to file for divorce(in feb 2001)..how can you stay married to someone who thinks you have cheated on him?and how can you just keep living with that person for 9 month of the pregnancy,having to wait for a paternity test til after the baby is born?.and then Tom used her “impossible” pregnancy to accuse nicole of being unfaithful, and told her (thru their lawyers) that she should therefore get less money from him in the divorce.as it turned out, she lost the baby in march 2001,so they actually were able to do a paternity test on the fetus,without waiting for the usual 9 months when the baby is supposed to be born..lo and behold,tom cruise found out that the baby Nicole lost in march 2001 was actually his….he tried to cover up in his tabloid war with her over the summer of 2001,but suddenly,they made a truce..i think he started to fear that this would come out(that she started divorce proceedings after he falsely accused her of cheating on him)and he would suffer a backlash from his fans.).shortly after their truce was announced,the events of 9/11/2001 pushed them off the front pages..they both claimed to have “seen the error of their ways” when compared to the nightmares of families “who had lost so much.”.but I do not believe tom’s real reason for sudden civility had anything to do with 9/11.I believe that tom cruise was shamed into behaving better toward nicole in the divorce,by the test result which showed he did father the child from nicole’s second miscarriage in march 2001.Here is another tidbit to think about: this is the real reason Tom wanted that ultrasound machine during katie holmes’s pregnancy:..he wanted to be able to keep track of that fetus at all times,anytime he felt insecure about the baby or threatened..also to establish how old the fetus was(i.e make sure the pregnancy beginning date was correct),and the rate it was growing..just to make sure Katie did not try to “pull something” on him.this whole fatherhood thing has really made him paranoid and distrustful of women.so there is my three cents’ worth regarding tom and nicole….
It was fairly well known that Nicole suffered from anorexia. She may have had problems getting pregnant due to this. I think Tom filed for divorce because they both knew she was pregnant but was still refusing to eat.
