Reese Witherspoon was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday. Reese brought along her boyfriend, agent Jim Toth, (not show) and her two children from her marriage to Ryan Phillippe, Ava, 11, and Deacon, 7. She also posed with the chihuahua who starred with her in the Legally Blonde movies! (Allegedly, it’s not like we would know the difference.) The 34 year-old Oscar winning actress was lovely in a cap sleeve black dress with red polka dots and patent red peep toe heels. In her acceptance speech, Reese made some nice comments about her fellow actors and being part of the acting community:
Reese Witherspoon received the 2,425th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today in honor of her Oscar-winning movie career, which started in 1990 with an open casting call for the tear-jerker coming-of-age drama Man in the Moon.
“What I understand now, after 20 years of making movies, is that the achievement is being part of a community of people—often who have done this for generations—who are the best at what they do,” the 34-year-old actress and Glamour cover girl said.
With Reese were her kids, Ava and Deacon, and filmmaker James L. Brooks, who just directed her in How Do You Know—out Dec. 17, natch.
Also sniffing around the ceremony was the chihuahua who played Bruiser, Reese’s closest companion in Legally Blonde.

That’s cute that the Legally Blonde chihuahua was there! I also love that she brought her kids with her. She does try to shield that from the paparazzi, but it’s so nice that they were able to share in this with their mom. They’re such good looking kids.
Kaiser and I were just talking about Reese earlier this week, and we agreed that we both like her and somewhat identify with her personality. Kaiser wrote me that Reese “seems very professional, very organized, very judgy,” and “like she has a low tolerance for fools and a–holes.” You can also tell that she’s a hard worker who puts her best foot forward and trudges through difficult situations. Now that she’s in a good place in her personal life and has a new boyfriend, Reese has definitely softened somewhat. Straight-laced Reese even spoke in a recent Glamour interview about feeling sexy.

I also really like Reese. She seems very genuine but other than being genuine I’m having difficulty with comparing Reese’s personality to Kaiser’s. In the future I’ll try to be more discerning in reading Kaiser’s threads. Love to have lunch with both of them in that up close and personal way (lol).

Really? You’ve never seen Reese Witherspoon’s kids before? That’s amazing. There are photos of them all over the internet; going to school, returning from school, at the airport with either parent, playing in the park. Granted,I’ve not seen them on this site but they are all over the place. It’s not about “pimping” the kids, it’s about what photos of what kids/parents will sale.
I’ve always liked Reese and she does seem like a nice person but I don’t think she has a real sterling reputation amongst her fellow actors. In fact, Vince Vaughn could barely stand her in that Christmas movie they did a couple of years ago. Of course, she couldn’t stand him either!! There have been rumblings about her and her co-stars on several movies but that was the only one that actually made it out of the ragmags. Doesn’t mean she’s not a nice person, just that she apparently can be “difficult” in some circumstances.
Also, getting a star on the Walk of Fame doesn’t mean much. You just have to purchase one, pay for the ceremony and call the media to take your pictures. I mean, Mary Hart from Entertainment Tonight has one!!!
Anyway, Ava is a beautiful girl. Looks just like her Mama.

The press aren’t as interested in them in part because they didn’t make their appearance on the cover of people magazine when they were born, thereby putting them in the public domain.
To each their own, but the reason we see some celeb kids more than others, is because their parents wanted it that way, even if it’s less convenient for them later on. You can’t get the toothpaste back in the tube….

Um. It’s interesting that this piece says that Reese was “honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” while the piece about Christina Aguilera receiving hers makes pains to note that “she paid for it.”
Except, that’s a condition of the star no matter who you are. You have to pay to get it. Some celebrities have fan clubs that foot the bill for them because they want them to have one, but for the most part, if you want it, you buy it. That’s not a negative, just how the process actually works. So it’s weird that here, Reese gets “honored” while Christina “buys it,” the latter tone implying that Christina wasn’t deserving. I know it seems like a small thing, and I know that more people seem to like Reese than like Christina, but it seemed pretty iffy of a double standard to me.

She is sooo gorgeous! And seriously, if I had to work with a boob like Vince Vaughn, I would likely be put off. Hollywood can be so quirky and unpredictable, and she’s an A-type that likes structure. She’s a great actress who is definitely in the right field of work…I’m sure she simply gets frustrated with the airheads. I would, too!
