Katie Price and Peter Andre plan to adopt a disabled child

Katie Price is going to adopt a baby from an impoverished nation, but before you yawn at the latest celebrity to do this, she’s actually planning on adopting a little disabled child because ‘no one wants them’.

Glamour girl Jordan is to adopt a disabled orphan from abroad – after breaking down in tears during a TV documentary about their plight.

The model, real name Katie Price, vowed to help after watching shocking film of cruelty and neglect in Bulgaria.

She has a partially blind and autistic son Harvey, six, plus two children with hubby Peter Andre, 35 – Junior, three, and Princess Tiaamii, one.

Katie, 30, told The Sun: “We want to be able to help a child to have a better life.

“The programme moved me to tears. So many babies who are born with disabilities find it hard to find adoptive parents – no one wants them.

“So Pete and I have been to see a lawyer about adopting a baby from abroad.”

The Sun

Katie Price and husband Peter Andre already have three children, one of whom is autistic and blind, so they know what kind of responsibility they are taking on. They are also in a financial position to have help with the children, and I think they would give a great home to an unwanted child. As much as I can’t stand Katie Price, I really think this is great.

This also explains the lawsuit they just won, where they sued News of the World for publishing a story suggesting they were bad parents. Considering some of the stuff written about the former pop star and topless model, I think the kindest comment I’ve read is that she’s a bimbo, I was a bit surprised they pursued a lawsuit. It must have been because they were concerned about the article affecting their chances of adopting.

Unfortunately, the camera doesn’t lie, and Peter and Katie also got into some controversy after they went on their reality TV show The Next Chapter and talked about sex, as well as simulating it, in front of their preschool age children. When I was a child and asked about the facts of life my parents just bought me a book, they didn’t provide a dry humping demonstration.

At any rate, Katie cleared that up for us all, telling the Daily Mail that that her behavior was ‘disgusting – but Pete always starts it.’ Don’t click on this link explaining the incident either, because it has pictures of the two of them simulating sex for the cameras that made me want to pour acid in my eyes.

She also took their daughter out shopping when baby Princess Tiaamii (that’s her name, not a title) had the chicken pox.

Katie Price and Peter Andre are shown on 7/3/08 “outside the High Court where they accepted damages from the News of the World who portrayed them as bad parents in an article.” Credit: WENN

They did that in front of small children? Wow. Just wow. That’s not a good thing.

  2. nag says:

Jordan was voted mother of the year 2007…

I guess the English identify with her. She does say it how it is and people do see that as a quality in people.
Sexuality is a part of family life.

Sigh. They issued a lawsuit because a former nanny accused them of negligence and cruelty to Harvey, not because of any potential adoption considerations. A lawsuit which they won outright. Katie’s a lot of things but she’s never been anything other than devoted to Harvey, and the same goes for Peter (although he IS a bit of a twat.)

Little bit of logic always helps.

  4. Cory says:

I don’t doubt their devotion to their kids but they are not the best parents. From what I can decipher, they are having difficulties copying with their kids without adding any other ones. Having a burnt child is not testimony of your good parental skills. And even though I don’t doubt their devotion, why adopt a child who will most likely end up burnt and in accidents like Harvey.

I can’t help but think she is jumping onto the adoption bandwagon. If they adopt a child, it will increase rating for their show. I would like to see Banda Rchie or the Brangelina brood at home. ( No Ideas Brangelina, don’t start a reality show in order to doate the money to charity. LOL).

  5. Jack says:

I am from the Uk and I certainly don’t identify with her.

  6. Jack says:

I should also add that I thought their very young nanny made some good points. Most of which are seen on their show. And don’t forget she saved Harvey’s life while injuring herself & then they sacked her for taking a holiday to recover. Really mean to how they did it. (throwing her stuff out, laughing about it, dissing her in front of David Guest, then telling her to get lost on live tv etc) poor girl.

  7. geronimo says:

If they want to give a home to a child with a disability, then good for them. Rather that than it stays permanently in its cot, never being picked up or given any physical affection. Because that’s the reality of most orphanages in Eastern Europe, disability or no disability.

She’s no role model for anyone but even I’m not cynical enough to believe they’d do this to increase ratings.

  8. Jack says:

I also wanted to add that I don’t know how their show hasn’t been taken off air and I don’t know WHO the heck voted Jordan/Katie mother of the year (altho these things are always seemingly given to dubious people)

Don’t forget to that Katie thought it was funny to teach Harvey how to say “F off” which he repeats on tv to Peter & she laughs at.

And they are always leaving the kids Junior and Harvey and only taking Tiiami with them. In the latest show she’s having a ball in the USA and admits she hasn’t seen either boys for two weeks. On their return, she’s constantly “bye junior, bye harvey” off she goes again. Seeing Junior’s little tantrums at being left yet again are so sad 🙁

What are these people famous for? I’ve never heard of them.

While I admire anyone who wants to help a child, I wonder about this pair, just based on this single article and the comments posted. And please…Princess Tiaamii? Really? There’s a marked lack of judgement right there.

  10. dancingnancie says:

i just read a mag article on this exact thing yesterday (adopting out of pity), and they’re doing this for ALL the wrong reasons – you’re NUMBER 1 reason for adopting should be because you want to be a parent and love someone. Adopting out of pity, to give a child a better life is admirable, but that’s not what kids really need.

  11. Syko says:

While I understand being open about sexuality with your children, and being willing to discuss it with them, most kids only want to know about the facts in general, not YOUR sexuality, because in their minds, the idea of you even having a sexuality is disgusting – and demonstrating it for them goes way too far. Some things are meant to be private.

Dragging contagious, sick kids out to go shopping is not an intelligent decision either. Nor is naming one of those kids “Princess Tiaamii”.

While adopting a child from an impoverished country, and a handicapped child at that, seems admirable on the surface, those kids have really special needs and I wonder how much time these twits will be willing to devote to helping that child?

On the other hand, it might be better than spending your life in a crib in an institution.

  12. Bobafet says:

You know how long it takes for chicken pox blisters to go away? Once they start crusting over the child is no longer contagious and going out in public is not an issue. You cant keep the kid stuck in the house for 2 weeks until all the sores go away! Im sure she consulted with her GP and did the right thing. I dont care much for either of them but I think they really enjoy being parents and its admirable of them to take on the care and upbringing of another disabled child. It just goes to show that they don’t see the child as a fashion accessory as so many other stars do.

  13. geronimo says:

I’d say they’re pretty aware of what looking after a child with quite severe disabilities involves, having cared for one for the last 6 years.

  14. Syko says:

Bobafet: Actually you can keep an ailing child in the house for two weeks. Both my daughters had chicken pox, one after the other, and even though their fevers subsided and the pox had scabbed, they still did not really feel well. Certainly not well enough to be dragged along on a shopping expedition, as is evidenced by the photos of the screaming Princess Tiamii (or however you spell it) and the fact that the child was rushed to the hospital at some point during the shopping trip. I am not saying they aren’t qualified to care better for a poor child from an impoverished country than the orphanages in the country could. I’m just saying they don’t often use good judgment with respect to their kids. But hey, I was far from a perfect mom myself, and my kids are okay.

  15. daisy424 says:

    Syko I agree, well said.

  16. gg says:

I don’t have an opinion on their parental abilities because I don’t watch their show (nor would I ever) but I sure do hate her black hair.

  17. Who are Katie Price and Peter Andre? Never heard of them.

  18. Nan says:

Who are these people? Is this a British thing?

  19. drm says:

Yes this is a British thing. Peter Andre is a D grade former Aussie pop singer and Jordan (Katie Price) is a D grade former British glamour model who ‘does’ reality shows and is also rather famous for the amount of plastic surgery she’s had. Peter and Jordan met on a celebrity survival show…

They obviously love their kids, but KP in particular has always come across as incredibly self-centered and quite immature in many ways. Her husband (Peter Andre) has gone on record saying her drinking concerns him, that she turns into a different person when she’s had a few, becomes extremely argumentative and has really bad judgement. And these comments were made shortly after Princess Tiiami’s birth (‘scuse spelling).

You can love your kids but still behave like a twat…and she does…regularly. Andre is definitely the more stable of the two…

  20. Mairead says:

Katie Price may be many things, but a bimbo is not one of them. That woman a will of pure iron. (as a side note, she is looking deathly ill of late – she had such a pretty face but has been looking miserable and gaunt for a while now).

But back to the adoption thing, I would like to point out that this is not a new whim. Some years back, when she was still known as “Jordan” and before meeting Peter Andre, she gave interviews where she said she would like to adopt a disabled child “to keep Harvey company” as it were.

  21. hello says:

I don’t think they are as bad of parents as people maintain. I think it’s probably really hard to be perfect all the time for the media. I also respect them because from what I know of them, they have one nanny, and do spend quite a bit of time with their kids.

I agree that she has a will of iron too. I don’t think i could have any other children if I’d had one that was disabled already. She seems trashy, sure, but pretty determined to succeed in many things, including child rearing.

As for Harvey getting burned, I can understand that. Even if he is disabled he can be one of THOSE kids. I was one. My parents were investigated by child protective services when I was little because by the time I was four I had had stitches in my chin four times. They weren’t beating me. I was very fond of wandering off and trying to do things myself. I also didn’t (and still don’t) have the reaction of putting your arms out when you fall, which equals busted chin! If my parents were famous they would have been portrayed so horribly! My parents kept my very safe in my opinion, and did a great job, but you know what? I have a bunch of scars under my chin. Accidents happen!

  22. keish says:

judging from katie’s backround, i actually think she’s a good mother. Why does everybody hate them?
Forget Jordan n’ judge Katie, the person!

  23. Claire. says:

Seeing Peter Andre on the television, when i was younger, seeing how successful he was in the music industry made me look up to Peter in a different perspective.
I took to Katie straight away watching her on Itv2 with Peter on there documentaries. Seeing Peter playing up for the camera’s made my opinion quickly change to disliking him, which it was drawn to Katie’s attention too which she did say freely on the Itv2 reality tv show.
Seeing Katie and Peter’s show come to an end was a relief. Through out there documentaries it occurred to me that Katie was a down to earth woman who spoke freely of her opinions. Unlike Peter who manipulated Katie.
Katie going to Ibiza, drinking? having fun? which is definitely not a crime, many woman do the same. Only difference being that Katie is in the public eye for building a career from nothing and who was determined to build a happy environment for her kids, unlike Peter who had to almost cling to Katie to push him further into the public eye and to pursue his music career that he has always wanted.
I strongly believe he has lied through out his journey getting to a record deal.
Funnily enough after the album was finished, he had split with Katie, giving a strong message that it seemed he was only in it for a stepping stone to pursue his career in music.
Katie Price, is a good role model and i definitely look up to her. Doing all she can for her kids, by supporting Harvey, Junior and Princess(TIAAMI) in every way possible. Katie has successfully published many books, her own lingerie and clothing range and also her own fragrance which were massive hits in the UK. I disagree with the news papers antics, putting her down for moving on with her life? as Peter Andre acts the innocent man and try’s to win the public with his sympathy act, which not many people will fall for as he is nothing without Katie!

“Katie Price and husband Peter Andre already have three children” This quote from ‘The Sun’ is incorrect, Harvey was brought up outstandingly by Katie without Peter. When Peter was involved, it was always crocodile tears and an act.
