I WISH they had made fishnets for Barbies back in the day- it would totally have completed my Punk Rock Midge. I cut her hair, gave her a nose ring,and painted black tattoos on her with my mom’s liquid eyeliner- if you put clear nail polish over them they don’t rub off. I’m just saying. Moms shoudl worry about who they get to baby-sit rather than what Barbie is wearing… MY babysitter Denise made me listen to The Clash and The Sex Pistols, hence Punk Rock Midge.

why are christian conservatives concerned with barbies anyway? Dont they only allow veggietales? arent these the same nutbags that determined a bunch of stuffed asexual aliens (teletubbies) were homosexual? please please and more please. BARBIE becomes “anything she wants” because it is all “fantasy” (president barbie, olympic barbie, etc)… its a dream. So she has a wet dream… who cares?

Wow, really? This is stupid. It’s a doll. I do remember the ‘Knocked Up Barbie’ awhile ago. You could remove the baby bump and then BAM! Baby!

Oh please… If you don’t like it, just don’t buy it. I’m sure Mattel is enjoying the publicity and free advertising. With all the problems in the world, why waste the the time protesting a $35 plastic doll. Go buy Amish Barbie, she’s covered from head to toe in ugly atire.

Two comments from my oddball point of view: I don’t like Bratz or Barbies, not in the make-a-big-fuss-about-it way, but I don’t especially want them in my house. And I sure enough didn’t buy any for my kids. But they sure enough get them as birthday presents! So it does kind of matter to everyone what is at large. I can definitely turn the TV off, etc., but what is at large is what your kids are going to encounter. (BTW, I don’t dislike these dolls in a bible-thumping way, their aesthetics and weird body images gross me out.)

My other weird comment is that now that the Bratz have infiltrated my house, I don’t mind them as much as Barbies! My girls like to play with them in the bathtub. It turns out that the worst thing about them is their slutty little outfits. Once they are naked, they look like little cartoon dolls with their giant heads (and no feet!) and their bodies look more like girls’ bodies than Barbie’s playboy-centerfold figure.

Actually I never did watch Days of Our Lives with my grandma.

I watched it as an adult (more or less) pregnant with my first child.

By the second child, I’d gotten a sewing machine and that was more entertaining.

Oh please please please come out with new DC villian dolls too! I’ve already got a Poison Ivy and a Harley Quinn one, give a Catwoman too! (I’m not wanting to buy them because they’re Barbies, I’m just a HUGE fan of Batman villianesses)

What irritates me about this kind of stuff is it’s very simple. If you don’t like it, DON’T BUY IT. The end.

It’s a collector’s barbie for adults/comic book collectors or those people who have every barbie ever made. It’s not meant to be a toy.
