Justin Long withdraws from Drew’s Barrymore’s film; said to be distraught

Brokenhearted Justin Long has dropped out of his next upcoming movie because he can’t deal with being around ex-girlfriend Drew Barrymore. Justin pulled out of the film female roller derby Whip It, which Drew is directing. And starts filming on Monday. The news just came out today, though it’s possible he withdrew earlier. But if not, Drew’s going to be doing quite the last minute scrambling.

Drew Barrymore apparently whipped him good.

A source tells E! News that Justin Long, who remains “distraught” over being dumped by the Charlie’s Angels star, has dropped out of the roller derby comedy “Whip It!” which marks Barrymore’s feature directorial debut.

“He couldn’t stand working with her and not being with her,” the Long insider says. “He’s too upset.”

Adds our source: “She dumped him. She was hot and cold. One minute she was in love with him and the next she wanted to break up with him.

“He is so distraught over the split that he dropped out of the movie.”

[From E! News]

Poor Justin. I truly feel badly for him, and I can understand not being able to work with someone that broke your heart. Especially less than a month later. I think I’d need quite a while before I could be okay being around that person. After spending a year of your life with someone, feelings don’t generally go away in three weeks time.

There was a lot of speculation about who broke up with who, and some blogs reported that Justin broke up with Drew because she was drinking too much. E! makes it sound like it was definitely Drew who did the dumping, but no matter who ended it, it makes sense that they both need some time and space to get over it.

Drew’s Barrymore’s film? I didn’t know Drew had a Barrymore’s film. (Check your punctuation, CB!)

girl, let me tell you. i dated my gf for a year and a half of bliss and then one day as we were driving home from a family camping trip she was like, “i just don’t feel it anymore.” it destroyed me. then i had to go to work where i sit in a desk that faces her desk, it was tragic. everyone was like, “get a new job!” but i was neither brave enough or smart enough to walk away and the next months were hell. good for him, knowing what’s up. and you know what – i am sure that the fact that it is messing with her movie last minute is a bonus!

I do love Drew but she has had so many boyfriends. Can’t seem to stick to one.
I think this guy is lovely in everyway.
Good that he took time for himself. Healthy.

For some reason I still believe Justin dumped Drew. Justin’s career is peaking right around now, Drew’s did a long time ago. Sounds like someone’s putting E! through the spin cycle.

Kimmy, stuff it. Wow, he actually did dump her ass.

  6. Mr. T says:

He’s better off without her. She strikes me as a flake.

I don’t believe in karma… But Drew has some coming to her. She dumps everyone when they become boring or inconvenient to maintain her “freedom.” Justin was her last gasp at reproducing that youthful first love, Romeo and Juliet feeling even though it was about her thirty-fourth attempt. Surprise, she screwed it up yet again. Now she’s too old and drunk to play the nymph. Watch the free fall.

  8. geronimo says:

But if they become boring or inconvenient, isn’t she doing the right thing by letting them go. What should she do, string them along? Maintain a relationship that has nowhere to go?

I think she IS a bit flaky but I quite like flakiness in my celebs.

Maybe her behavior has to do with the poor relationship she had with her Father.

  10. Maritza says:

It’s her loss, Justin seems like a really nice guy. He would have been a great father to her kids. I really thought this time Drew would settle down and be happy. I guess she prefers to party her life away…

Drew strikes me as super-codependent. I can’t see her ending it.

Not to mention wannabe-hipsterish. so annoying.

    He’s a Shia LaFruit knock-off anyway.

    I agree daisy.
Look at how she grew up. She didn’t really have any role models as far as healthy relationships go. Didn’t her dad leave when she was a toddler? I know lots of kids grow up in “broken homes” but they didn’t have Jaid for a mom either. The kid was in rehab by 13 for goodness sake. I’m not sure that she even knows how to have a healthy relationship. I think it’s sad. I like Drew and would hate to think that the reason they broke up is because she’s boozing again.

Wasn’t it reported somewhere here that right after their breakup he was out with Kiki?

  15. PIPPA says:

DREW PUTS ON THIS SICKLY SWEET BABY VOICE WHEN SHE IS IN FILMS BUT I DON’T THINK SHE IS THAT NICE. HOW COME SO MANY RELATIONSHIPS HAVE GONE WRONG FOR HER. DOES SHE WISH TO BE WORSHIPPED SO THE FIRST HONEYMOON PERIOD OF RELATIONSHIPS IS GOOD AND THEN THEY ARE DOOMED?

  16. Ruby says:

Ye gads PIPPA – no need to shout.
Do you have gum on your shift key, or what?
