Ozzy Osbourne: Lady Gaga is overexposed, I’m sick of her

Rocker Ozzy Osbourne, 62, made some rather good points about how Lady Gaga and her ridiculously costumed T&A are everywhere lately. Osbourne gave a (supposedly) surprisingly coherent interview to US Weekly in which he covered his career, his family and his advice for Gaga. Contrary to the title, he wasn’t entirely negative toward Gaga and basically told her to put it away for a while.

Us: Any advice for any of the current music stars out there?

OO: I do think Lady Gaga should take a break for a little while. She’s getting to be too much, and she doesn’t watch the exposure of her clothes. She’s just too overexposed. She could be the next Madonna if she played her cards right. I like her, but I’m getting a bit sick of her. When I turn on the TV, I see her wearing another lamp shade or whatever. She needs to take a break, I think, for an hour or so. I love her, I think she’s really, really entertaining, but she’s doing a bit too much. Every day it is something else. The specialness of her is gonna get killed if she doesn’t calm it down. Who manages her? Someone should whisper in her ear and say back off for a couple of months — let people gain interest back. Let people want you, you know?

Us: Are you proud of Kelly? She’s such a big star now!

OO: Kelly’s doing so well. That girl works so hard, she really is a hard-working kid. Both of them have come to be great people. None of us expected it to take off like it did — it went through the stratosphere! They didn’t know how to handle it, so they ended up on alcohol, drugs, but they’re both clean now.

Us: Aren’t you proud of her for losing all that weight?

OO: Oh yes, I’m proud of my daughter. But if she’s fat, whatever, I love her. But I’m so happy for her, and everybody’s always giving me compliments about how wonderful she looks. She’s currently working on a film in New Orleans, but I don’t know what the role is or anything else about it.

Us: Do you have any guy you’d like to see her with?

OO: No. I don’t get involved. As long as he’s not a bad guy or does bad things, or beats her… And, listen to me, if anybody beats one of my girls, I don’t have to do anything, ’cause my wife will get there about four hours before me, and do what she’s gotta do!

That was really nice what Ozzy said about Kelly! I get the impression that this interview was “translated” though, so that it made sense to people who don’t speak mumble. I’ve never heard Ozzy utter a sentence that I could understand completely. No wonder they didn’t post the audio.

Good interview Ozzy. I doubt he said it that clearly though.

  2. NO!! says:

    Ditto.

  3. Rita says:

Ozzy makes a good point about Gaga’s over exposure and outlandish antics. This coming from a guy who a few years ago made his living biting the heads off rats and flicking his tongue.

  4. crab says:

    I heart Ozzie!!!

  5. Anaya says:

Ozzy is so right about Lady Gaga. I too wish she’d go away for a while however it seems she might be insecure with the fame she has. She’s always in the media for one thing or another probably fearing if she takes time off she won’t be as interesting or that people will forget her when in fact people will be even more interested if she gave them time to breathe. She’s a bit too much to take at times. But I do like her music.

Hahahaha! Don’t speak mumble. I’m going to have to remember that line – so true too. Thanks for making me laugh this morning. I needed it.

I agree with Ozzie. I liked her a lot in the beginning. Now I think that fame has gone to her head and she just does stuff now because she craves attention like a drug.

  7. Missy says:

    Well Said OZZY!!

  8. BReed says:

” I am Ozzy” by Ozzy Osbourne is one of the best biographies I have ever read and one of the best books I have read this year. You will laugh out loud. Sharon’s book isn’t bad either.

  9. LindaR says:

Have never liked Lady Gaga. There is something about her that gives me the creeps. I think if a rocker like Ozzy, who has been around the block a few times so knows the score, says she is overexposed, she should listen. Of course, if she doesn’t and people grow tired of her, better for me because I won’t have to see her pic everywhere, anymore.

  10. malachais says:

Right on Ozzy, I personally was done with Lady Gaga after the meat dress incident. Her stunts and styling negatively overshadow her talent.

  11. C-DUB says:

    True dat Ozzy!

  12. LittleDeadGirl says:

Good interview and I agree it had to be translated but I saw him on Graham Norton Show and him and his wife are really kinda funny. He has given about the best advice to Lady Gaga, she needs to relax and give people a chance to miss her. The public’s love affair with any star is strained at best .. we love you until we hate you and if you are like a bad boyfriend that is always fucking calling we will get sick of you and dump you. She needs to take a break for a year or so but I honestly kinda doubt she can. She strikes me as a very attention needy person …

  13. Shay says:

Between him and Sharon, he is the nice guy while Sharon is the nasty micromanaging cow that she is.

  14. sickofit says:

straight to the point right? one must love him.

  15. me says:

    Spot on, Prince Of Darkness!!!

  16. Str8Shooter says:

    Pot. Kettle. Black.

Wasn’t this the same moron who whored out his family life for what, 3 seasons, on MTV?

  17. December says:

Gaga will never be Madonna. Madonna knew when she started how to keep the media and people interested in her. She’d go through phases with her looks and music, so when one was done, people looked forward to another.

All Gaga has is dressing up in stupid outrageous costumes and saying asinine stuff in interviews. Pretty soon, the appeal is going to wear off. Obviously, even Gaga is finding that it’s hard to keep coming up with an outfit more crazy than the last.

@ Str8Shooter – I think that was all Sharon’s idea. I think Ozzie just went along with it because of that, and Kelly and Jack really wanted to do it as well.

  18. Georgia Barker says:

I agree with the kelly thing..
but i tottaly disagree witch what you said about Lady Gaga she will never get old and will never got forgotton about EVER! she can do what she wants, she doesent have a problem what use wear?! she wont give 2 f*cks what use think about her cause shes always got her fans behind her like ME! i love you GAGA. dont ever change! you are who you are:)

  19. jc126 says:

    A very wise man!

  20. Squirrel says:

Wow, whoever wrote that interview should have been ghostwriter for George W… I don’t believe Ozzy uttered even one coherent sentence, let alone this sensible reaction to events around him. He’s most likely a very decent guy and does love his family, but there was a time not too far ago when they were all over the media non-stop too, and let’s be honest neither of his two out-there kids are talented or have deserved their status by themselves. Like Gaga or loathe her, she sure has a musical talent and a knack for knowing what will stick in people’s brains.

  21. Just a Poster says:

Georgia Barker, trust me, even you will grow tired and bored with Gaga one day.

Don’t you guys remember that commercial where Ozzy was mumbling around and nobody knew what he was saying, so he had to text everything? Thats how he did this interview 😉

  22. December says:

*sighs* This is why I hate Lady Gaga fans. They can’t spell and they’re way too fanatic. Hell, I prefer the Angieloonies/Brangeloonies and JenHens to Gaga’s fans.

If Gaga was such a genuis, then why when you look at pictures of artists such as Grace Jones, David Bowie (circa Ziggy Stardust era), Bjork, and even some Android Lust (Gaga wore basically the same one Shikhee wore in the music video for Stained, which came out waaay before Gaga ever came about), you see basically her outfits and make up style on them, and they were definitely around longer then she was? Explain that one.

Gaga has no creativity. All she does is rip off other artists’ ideas. Granted, she does have a good voice, but obviously isn’t creative enough to come up with a truly original outfit.

  23. spinner says:

Kaiser!! I speak mumble & Ozzie is right!!

  24. jover says:

Agee december; more than the “shocking” outfits, her music is mostly recycled 80s/90s techno dance pop. She can only hope in her most meat-saturated dream to have the longevity and influence of Black Sabbath. Jr. high school kids today play sabbath tunes but who will even bother to play gaga 30-40 years from now? I give her a few more years. Sad thing is I don’t believe she is nearly as interested in music as she is in just plain media or fame whoring.

  25. Kim says:

Although i agree with what he says about Lady Gaga and i think he was nice saying he loves his daughter whether skinny or fat but Kelly & his wife are very overated and overexposed (by their fame addicted choice). He should heed his own advice to his wife and daughter.

  26. Eleonor says:

@Kim: Kelly and Sharon maybe are overexposed in the US, but not here in Europe, Lady Gaga is overexposed everywhere.

  27. Jesus Christ Superstar says:

@December: Totally agree. I would also add to the list: Roisin Murphy, who released a single this year, “Momma’s Place”, that is pretty much a Lady Gaga bitch slap; Sabina Sciubba, the lead singer of The Brazilian Girls; and Karin Andersson from The Knife. Of course I could include Jonna Lee, the artist behind iamamiwhoami, but she did come out with the iambounty project after Lady Gaga’s emergence onto the scene. But whatever, she still does it much better than Gaga could ever hope to.

  28. Chris says:

But on the other hand of Gaga he said:

“I love her, I think she’s really, really entertaining”

I have to agree, Gaga is very talented, she writes, sings, dances and can play quite a few instruments. She’s no lightweight. My five year old loves her. He puts her songs up on youtube and dances to them, plus he hates Justin Bieber, so he has pretty good taste. 🙂

  29. Maddie says:

    i love ozzy 😀

  30. JQ says:

Ozzy rules! I absolutely love love LOVE him!

  31. steve says:

good old ozzy , so glad he still speaks his mind.

  32. Dhavy says:

@December-100% with you! That’s why whatever she does doesn’t surprise me because it’s not original it’s copied from someone back in the 80’s. I’m shocked at how ignorant some of the young people nowadays could be considering the technology we have these days they can’t (or won’t) look back to artists like Grace Jones and realize that she’s being carbon copied

  33. Josie says:

Madonna is coming with her new album and tour, GaGa will be kicked to the curb.

  34. LT says:

I love Ozzy. The comment “And, listen to me, if anybody beats one of my girls, I don’t have to do anything, ’cause my wife will get there about four hours before me, and do what she’s gotta do!” cracked me up!
