Robin Williams offers wife whatever she wants in divorce to keep his secrets

Robin Williams is in the process of a divorce from his wife of 19 years, Marsha. The annoying funnyman is said to have closely followed Christie Brinkley’s divorce from her fourth husband, Peter Cook. During Brinkley’s public divorce proceedings the public learned the intimate details of Cook’s Internet porn addiction and inappropriate relationship with a girl just out of high school he hired to work at his architecture firm. Williams wants to keep quiet whatever dirt his wife might have on him, and is said to have told his lawyer to meet all her demands:

Horrified after witnessing Christie Brinkley’s divorce from… Peter Cook escalate into a three-ring media circus, Robin Williams – desperate to preserve his own privacy as his 19-year marriage to estranged wife Marsha winds up in court – vows he absolutely won’t fight her, and ordered his attorney and business reps: “Give her anything she wants!” Said an insider: “Robin wants his private life kept out of the headlines and is willing to give Marsha anything she wants just to get it all over with and start his life again. He knows there are many things Marsha could make publicm and he’s willing to give up his fortune to avoid a trashy divorce battle.”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, Mike Walker’s column, August 11, 2008]

Williams, 57, had a stint in rehab in August, 2006. He was rumored to have been cheating on his wife earlier this year with a 27 year-old artist from Greenwich, CT, but it seems as if they may have already been estranged at that time. Robin and Marsha are said to have been living apart for around two years.

I almost forgot he was going through a divorce because he hasn’t made the gossip press much in the last few months. Now that I’m reminded of it, I’m kind of bummed that his divorce details won’t be made public. It would be excellent gossip and I would like to see this fast-talking fool stammering on the stand. Williams is a nice guy, though, and if he’s willing to make sure his wife is happy he doesn’t deserve to have his dirty laundry aired in public. You would doubt he was into anything on the level of Peter Cook’s indiscretions, but it’s always possible. It sounds like he made a wise decision in making sure he settles his divorce quickly and behind the scenes.

No, I wouldn’t assume anything and that includes he is not capable of doing what Cook did. Then again, Cook cheated with young girl, used internet porn, etc.. lots of regular joes have done the stuff Cook did so it’s not all that outrageous. I’m not saying it’s right but just not so unusual.

I agree Williams is annoying; watching him interviewed is funny for 2 minutes then you realize the guy is never turns it off. It’s nerve wracking.

Robin Williams has legitimate medical problems and mental health issues and I would guess that he would like to keep that kind of stuff quiet. Some people do some pretty nutty stuff when they are manic, worse than Britney, so I would imagine there are some stories there in addition to the cheating and whatnot

He is a very sweet man and his soon to be ex, let’s just say she’s extremely difficult. They have two kids who are older but not immune to the effects of having their parents duke it out publicly. Good for him for taking this course. I wish him nothing but the best.

  4. Shane says:

Robin Williams is a high strung comedic genius. I’m sure with his energy level he has an equally high sex drive. His kinky side is probably what he wants kept quiet by his wife. I’ll betcha this guy is a super freak. Hardly a big deal nowadays (sad isn’t it).

He seems a little gay to me. Not that it’s a bad thing. But I guess not because his 27 yo gf was way hot.

Anyway, he lives in San Francisco. I work in San Francisco, and commuting to work there’s one of those “adopt-a-freeway” signs on Highway 101 near Oyster Point. It says “this freeway adopted by ROBIN WILLIAMS.” I haven’t been on that stretch of road in a while though. Oh yeah, I also read in the local paper he showed up at an open mic night in Marin County and did a set. Just some random, open mic night he popped in on. So he seems cool to me.

I remember he “fell off the wagon” last year or so. maybe his divorce has something to do with that.

I like his creepy, dark movies better than when he does comedies.

  6. Tess says:

Centuries ago, I loved him in Mork and Mindy. There was a sweetness in his comedy. But long ago that disappeared. I think he’s gay and would prefer keepng it quiet.

  7. ri23 says:

Robin, it’s really no secret that you’re not funny anymore.

  8. Kaiser says:

I bet he is good in bed. Like Shane said, a freak. God bless the freaks.

  9. Sue-blah says:

The guy is a nutty genius…..who cares how he gets his freak on? Did you want to know how gershwin, einstein or groucho got their freak on-did not really matter…….

There was a blind item not too long ago about a divorcing comedian who was in the closet-you ladies may not be too far off in thinking he might be gay, or at least bi.

  11. Missy says:

  12. geronimo says:

Since seeing him in Birdcage, I’ve never thought of him as anything other than gay. He just did it so well. But yeah, really don’t want to know the details here.

  13. lola lola says:

I think its a wonderful and refreshing change to have a celebrity going thru a private divorce. Keep up the good work! I don’t want to know about their dirty laundry. Honestly, I don’t.

  14. Kaiser says:

@Anon69 – I think that blind item was about Mike Meyers. My gaydar beeps for Meyers.

  15. jinx says:

The reason there isn’t anything being mentioned is it’s part of the pre nup. If she talked she would have gotten nothing or close to nothing. The only reason. Plus he is the father of her children and they adore their father, so that would have cause a possible estrangement.

He’s got plenty and I am sure she is over whatever caused her to leave – so she’s going to be protective of him too.

She was the Nanny and knew exactly what she was getting and had nearly a 20 year marriage. She’ll be fine.

  16. Alexis says:

The “annoying funnyman” my sentiments exactly.

  17. kate says:

i can’t watch him for more than about 10 minutes…he makes me nervous.

  18. Kat says:

He is great, love to watch him get Jack Nicholson to laugh.

  19. Judy says:

Well she will make out much better than his first wife. You know the one he cheated on with this hag he is divorcing now.

  20. enchantress says:

I sort of like Robin Williams, even though, like Jim Carrey, a little of him goes a long way. But once a cheater, always a cheater….

  21. Beautiful says:

If you are stupid enough, not just to marry, but to stay married for two decades to someone that will air your private life, you should pay the bill indeed. Buy her off, you two deserve each other…

  22. ems_wench says:

What the hell is in his pants???

  23. Alexa says:

Gosh, I LOVE HIM! Loved him in Dead Poet’s Society, Mrs. Doubtfire, and especially loved him in Good Will Hunting!! LOVE HIM BAD! I’d love to have a date with him.

Robin Williams is the most important comedian of all time and transcends even Bob Hope.

  26. Sometimes I contemplate if folks truly take time to write something original, or are they only just dishing out words to fill a site. This certainly doesn’t fit that mold. Thank you for taking the time to write with awareness. Now And Then I look at a page and question whether they even proofread it.Fantastic work with this article.
