Mariah spent $125,000 renting mansion for wedding party

I would so love to live in Mariah Carey’s world. It sounds frivolous, empty, and incredibly easy. Rarely do you hear about Mimi’s schedule getting bogged down with commitments like going to charity events, donating money, raising awareness for anything – well other than herself. She’s constantly flashing humongous jewels and furs and seen dining at the best restaurants. It’s kind of hard to tell where my sarcasm left off and truth began here.

Mariah’s self-indulgent lifestyle is getting kicked up a notch at the end of the month. Though she’d previously planned on throwing herself another wedding (because the first one to Nick Cannon – and Mariah’s second wedding overall) wasn’t fabulous enough, what with the island setting and the lobster and all). Plans for that seem to have been scrapped, but she is still throwing herself a wedding party so everyone can celebrate her in grand style. Oh and Nick too. Probably.

Mariah Carey is finally getting the wedding party she always dreamed about. Sources say Carey paid an astounding $125,000 to rent Stone Meadow Farm in East Hampton for one week this month. At the 10-bedroom, 18,000 square-foot, 8-acre spread, the diva and her new hubby, Nick Cannon, will “chill out” – as opposed to whatever else they’ve been doing since they married.

But we hear she’s also finally getting around to celebrating her quickie April wedding to Cannon. The party will be hosted by Def Jam boss L.A. Reid, and all the guests who bought Carey presents through her Bergdorf Goodman registry can finally toast the couple.

If all goes well, Carey has the option to buy Stone Meadow, which is listed at just under $20 million and is the site of the Red Cross Ball on Aug. 23. Carey’s rep and Corcoran listing agent Gary DePersia had no comment.

Thank goodness all of her rich friends will finally have the opportunity to celebrate Mariah properly. Here’s Mariah on the set of BET’S 106 and Park in New York City on July 23rd. Photographer: Anthony Dixon. Images thanks to WENN.

She gets on my damn nerves. I wonder when she is going to start dressing age appropriate, along with a few other older women. When I was younger, I thought she had a beautiful voice. Actually getting a look at her and seeing the persona she puts forth to the tabs, makes me wanna throw up a little bit.

I still sing along to the old songs, though!
Oh baby I’m so into you, tell me what you wanna do…..

    Super dork *lol*

It’s not just that she can’t dress age appropriate, she can’t dress decade appropriate! Seriously, she always looks like a 1980’s call girl.

I know she has incredible range, but the way she sings annoys the hell out of me. I’d like to hear her just sing a damn note without changing up a million times with each breath.

I’m so tired of reading about her. It’s obvious she’s afraid of growing up and acting her age.
Somebody needs to fire her stylist. Come on, we’re over the cleavage and mini-dresses. Give us something of substance Mariah.

In the defense of the aledged care-free world Mariah Carey lives in, who’s to say? And rather, who’s to know?

From what I’ve garnered, Mariah actually has an expansive track record in philantrophy. She has solid ties to the Fresh Air Fund and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which awarded her for her overwhelming generosity. Just because Mariah choses not to flaunt her charitable offerings in the media, it doesn’t mean she is the selfish & greedy diva you make her out to be.

And as for the ageist remarks that have become so popular in reference to Mariah lately; back off. She clearly has the figure to wear what she wants. And if women in the media who are older than her can dress as they please, why can’t she?

What a disgusting display of wealth.

I just don’t get why she needs a wedding list. Is there truly any merchandise left on the planet that she hasnt already bought? Does she actually NEED yet more stuff? A classier gesture would have been to request donations to a charity she’s linked with in place of gifts.

I don’t like Mariah or her music, at all. But I’ve got to say, I am solidly in Jake S.’s camp on this one. If the girl’s got it, she can do what she likes with it, and it sounds like she has been charitable, without asking for too many pats on the back. Sure, she’s childish, and sure, she dresses like a tramp, but hell…who’s she hurting? She’s not OFFENSIVE, imo. I ignore her, and she doesn’t affect me in the least.

  8. Samantha says:

Celebs that do charitable things get backlash because they must be doing it for press. Those that don’t get backlash for being greedy. She has some camp, doesn’t she? Sure…its called Camp Mariah, but I would believe she is more dedicated to her camp than Hayden P. is for saving the dolphins. Or seals..or whatever it is she is supporting/against.

What a ridiculous amount to celebrate a “marriage” that I give less than a year. Mariah loves Nick, I guess … but not more than she loved herself. I wonder why she can’t donate any of her millions to a good cause? I know about Camp Mariah, bur when you had scads of money coming out yer ass like Mariah does … I dunno, I just thought she’d do more. Maybe that’s not fair for me to say … I dunno

  10. Women who need big weddings like this have low self esteem.

  11. Kelly says:

@Cindy- Just because someone wants a big lavish wedding does not mean they have low self-esteem. That is an ignorant generalization…Mariah MIGHT suffer from it..but don’t say WOMEN.

  12. daisy424 says:

Wasn’t her wedding to Mottola the fairtale over the top wedding she always wanted? 🙄

  13. countrybabe says:

That’s not that much money for her. She’s worth alot $$$. 8)

  14. Victoria says:

TO TRVLBG529…. If she grew up and started acting her age, I don’t think anyone would care any more.. That is what she is worried about.. She gets on my nerves also, and I’m not a mean person. But, there is just something about her, that grates on my last nerve.

  15. Orangejulius says:

Are you kidding? That is a trivial amount for someone in her income bracket. Meh! If it makes her happy…

  16. Orangejulius says:

O.K. I admit the teeny-bopper, ultra short skirts and uber cleavage need to go. Her clothes suck!

  17. Prissa says:

Victoria has a good point – if she suddenly stopped dressing trampy and like the almost 40 yr old that she is she’d disappear quicker than “All that Glitters”. Also, I think she keeps dressing that way to appeal to the younger crowd. She has a lot of teen followers. She’s been in the biz for almost 20 yrs so she’s got to do something to keep herself on the mouths of babes. You gotta admit, not many stars can do that. Janet tries to appeal to the younger crowd, but it doesn’t seem to work. And lets not even talk about Madonna…

  18. Shelley says:

First, Mariah has donated millions to numerous charities… she doesn’t do it just for media attention (like many celebs do). The woman not only sings… she owns a winery, a sports fashion clothing line, a beauty products line, a jewelry line and store, plus now she’s pushing perfume for Elizabeth Arden. Just because she dresses like a hooker and markets herself is no reason to hate. So what, she spent $125K to rent a mansion for a week… by week’s end she would have earned at least that much. I just read about the party which happened Saturday Night, and they ate Fried Chicken and Mac & Cheese (that really sounds like a foo-foo menu)… leave MiMi alone! 😆
