Yeah, the thought never entered their heads until they got married – okay, marriage is a new begining etc etc but getting married guarantees nothing. If they wanted kids they have had years together to breed – there’s something hollow and phony here.

#2, they have always talked about kids, Portia has wanted kids for a while. I suggest you read this article if you haven’t before.

Yeah, I think Portia’s probably WAY more into having babies than Ellen. But that’s the way it is with a lot of couples.
**Sidenote: I was thinking about bringing this up on the other Ellen/Portia threads, but you girls realize that Portia is a ZOMG HOMEWRECKER, right? Ellen was living with her long-time love, a photographer whose name eludes me. Then a second after Ellen meets Portia, they’re together.
So why no homewrecker moralizing on these two? Just ZOMG GAY moralizing?

Kaiser has a point I’d forgotten about. Oddly tho, I still dont feel like homewrecker bashing these 2. Not sure why, but I think its cuz they appear to have halfway decent morals everywhere else, and no one’s perfect.
Its also nice seeing a gay couple so publicly open. We have a high rate of gay/bi here, but the area is also largely conservative because its mostly mennonite/amish. So even tho “somg anarky rebel” kids aren’t public about it.

They should start taking in foster children who are looking for a loving home…then make it permanent. Good luck to Ellen. She deserves to be happy a/what that flake Anne Heche has done to her.
BTW, how did Heche ever get her foot in the door in this industry? Does anyone know? How?

I googled ‘Anne Heche biography’ and found out, Nan – and it is fukking FASCinating!!! This is something, here, check it out –
” Born in the small town of Aurora, OH, on May 25, 1969, Heche was raised as part of a fundamentalist Christian family. Her father, an itinerant choir director, was constantly running from both debt and his immediate family; the former was due to his lack of a steady job and the latter to his secret life as a gay man.

There is nothing hollow or phony about people marrying BEFORE getting serious about children. Are you kidding?
What is wrong with people when we have a society that actually looks DOWN on people who want their children to have the benefit and stability of marriage. It has honestly devolved so far that unless a new mother is a single lesbian career woman working 80 hours per week and conceiving via artificial insemination because she “needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle,” then…people want to throw rocks and make a lady feel bad for wanting babies in a traditional setting.
I applaud ANY couple with the sense and foresight and self-realization and MATURITY to wait to have children until the relationship has become marriage and until the marriage is well-established. There isn’t anything even remotely shallow or phony or plastic about such motives. There isn’t anything abnormal about discovering a desire to have kids after marrying, either. It’s natural. For all our protests, it’s a biological fact that women feel an urge to couple and procreate. Some women are repulsed by children and motherhood…sure. Other women want careers and wait…and then find they’ve waited too long and no longer wish to procreate. But any woman who claims she’s never “felt it” even one time by the age of 40 is either in some serious armpit-deep denial or she’s a bald-face liar.
What these lovely celebrity newlywed women (Ellen and Portia) ARE…is women who know what’s best and CARE what’s best for their kids instead of caring first about making some sort of “I’m independent and don’t have to follow convention” mindset in order to be considered whole, valid, or deep people. Just because they didn’t jump into raptures about wanting to have kids together until after the wedding doesn’t mean they never talked about it in private…and it’s perfectly understandable that they would be thinking about it more seriously now.
LOL…wanting kids after marriage is hollow and phony…OMG. That’s just so out there, I can’t even put myself in that place.

No, no Aspen. It was interesting. And, Snowy (if I may call you that) that was very interesting. Who knew? Kinda explains a few things. Reminds me a little bit of the teacher who married her REALLy young student (after spending time in jail for molesting him). Her father had done something similar. Our hardwiring upstairs is pretty complicated sometimes.

#13: WOW! I actually used to watch AW with my mom back in the day and I always loved the Vicki/Marley storyline. I never knew it was Anne. I thought her acting was actually very good (c’mon I was what? 10?) — and she was very pretty. Thanks for the info.
