I think she looks like a perfectly healthy weight for a 7 month pregnant woman. It’s much better to be a little bit over than to be so into your size that you deprive the baby. It’s only 9 months and then you can be as nuts about it as you want to be.
It really upsets me to see pregnant women starving themselves.

Is the body guard advertising his services on his shirt??

If he is…is that the normal thing to do, advertise that you are a body guard so that other celebities can see the pictures and be like, “OOO he protected Ashley Simpson, I want HIM!”

Articles like these are ridiculous. Ashlee looks healthy and good. She is pregnant, she’s not supposed to be stick thin. Its scary that articles like this one is published…what is wrong with the world!?

She was never a size zero before her pregnancy….this story is FALSE!

Still…she looks TOTALLY healthy and within the proper weight range. Its good to put a little meat on anyway…the baby will be a healthier weight.

As for pain in childbirth…yeah it hurts a bit until you say “epidural”…and then you smile all the way through the delivery. :D

I’m guessing she burst into tears because she is hormonal and gaining weight can be depressing. Period.

She’ll be fine. I gained about 50 lbs with each of my pregnancies and the poundage was ALL baby (and baby fluid) Aside from my last one, the c-section, I left the hospital in my normal,pre-preg pants. My last one took about a month…c-sections aka nightmare

lol @ Duda’s comment. She looks fine. This media obsession with pregnant women’s weight is total bullshit. She can lose it when she is good and ready, my god.

“Ashlee broke down in tears at a doctor’s appointment in early August when she found out she’s gained more weight than is considered in the healthy range,” a Star source says.”

If her doctor had anything to do with telling Ashlee Simpson she had “gained more weight than is considered in the healthy range,” then that sick bastard should have his doctoring license looked at. What kind of ob/gyn tells a new mother/first pregnancy young woman she’s getting too fat?? That’s absolutely awful, if it’s true. Poor Ashlee!!!

Once again…how is it someone is reporting what went on between her and her doctor? In his office?
Really…celeb spy cams at the doctor’s office? Right.
This is really annoying. Some stars get the “She is too thin and is endangering the baby by not gaining weight” angle, while others get the “gaining too much weight” story.
As if pregnancy were a pagent competition!

It’s gotta be a completely made-up story, you’re right Czarina. So many of these “a source said” tabloid stories are completely made up from scratch.

You saw she blogged about this on her myspace, right? She said it’s totally made up, she’s healthy and fine and she didn’t buy any size 0 jeans – Pete’s wearing all of hers and she thinks he looks hot. Etc etc.

  15. Scorn says:

I called this early on when she was sportin’ those low riding skirts and belly tops. She was showing off quite a bit of muffin top (not a pretty sight)then and I’m sure it’s even more now. She’s always had muffin top problems. Sister Jess is fighting it now as well. The good news is that it will probably drop off pretty quickly if she breast feeds, but it was NEVER a good idea to dress so skantily early on in her pregnancy because the camera didn’t lie.

  18. czarina says:

Snowblood: Exactly! I go on immediate ‘highly unlikely red alert’ particularly when a “source” is quoting anyone’s doctor.
In a busy hospital, a leak could easily get out. But a doctor’s office? A lot more contained. The only way info will come from a doctor is if the celeb themselves publicize it, or if there is a press conference for a general purpose (ex. When Angie’s twins were born).

    She looks good.

I know she probably doesn’t read tabloids, but I think this is a really horrible story since Ashlee herself has said that she’s had battles with eating disorders when she was pursuing a ballet career.

  20. lola lola says:

It comes from a doctor’s office because someone in the office gets paid to tell The Star or whatever rag the sell info to. I used to work at a rag like that and it was pretty depressing how every limo driver, doorman, cashier, waiter, receptionist–yes, nurses too would call the magazine and sell info. It made me feel quite sorry for celebs. But then again, we all got to pay the bills….

I don’t buy it. I’m not a fan of either of the Simpson girls, but Ashley really does look great. She’s got that glow about her, ya know? And as much as I’d love to revel in any Simpson-related schadenfreude, I’ve gotta cry foul on this one.

This story sounds ridiculous, it takes ALOT to be out of the healthy range for gaining weight and even then it isnt that big a deal. Stop scaring women into starving themselves and their children when theyre pregnant, this site makes me sick

  23. Starla says:

True story–I gained 52 lbs with my second son & could not help it!! Although I did not think that since I was eating for two, I’d eat for two, my appetite was insane. I made sure I ate very healthy, not piles of cakes, doughnuts & ice cream. The weight came on & I was mortified. I gained 30 with my first son so this was unexpected. My son endeed up weighing over 9 lbs (I’m 5’3″…ouch).I also had a c-section, cara, but it took me about 3 months to lose the weight. You are so lucky!!! The moral of my long-winded story is, UP TO A POINT, there are some things you can’t control.

she’s gained weight but she looks thinner than most people are BEFORE they’re pregnant. She went from being a stick to being normal… maybe she gained more than whats recommended but if she did, she went from being underweight to being a good weight… She’s thinner than me and Im perfectly fine– and not pregnant. She looks fantastic.

    *nurse hat on*
Actually, there could be a few reasons why her doctor might be cautioning her about her dietary intake during her pregnancy, although her weight gain looks healthy to us in photos of her. One example is if she has gestational diabetes – with this condition she would have to keep her blood sugar under tight control, corforming to a strict diet to reduce the chances of harmful complications to her and her baby. Another example would be preeclampsia, where a sudden weight gain along with other abnormal clinical signs can be indicate danger to mom and baby. I hope that she and her baby are doing OK and that she’ll get through her pregnancy safely.

I would never put something so vicious past a doctor. Doctors seem to take some sort of sick pleasure in having the power to devastate their patients. I’ve never met with more callous, condescending, and insufferably arrogant people than doctors.

No…not all doctors…but enough of them to warrant the stereotype.

I feel bad for her if her doctor did this to her. She’ll be sick again and lose too much weight again, and we’ll have another new Hollywood mom spending too much time with her trainer so that we can count her ribs by looking at her chest…and leaving the poor baby with 8 nannies out of resentment for having lost her “career body.”

    I seriously hate doctors.

  30. Doctors are poorly qualified to judge whether or not someone is overweight. For example, most doctor’s offices don’t even measure someone’s height – they just weigh patients without knowing how tall they are, then make a diagnosis of “overweight” or “underweight”. You have to factor in height!!

  31. Carena says:

If she really did buy a bunch of size 0 jeans she is going to be severely disappointed. I’m sure being able to not work for extended periods of time and affording a personal trainer will help big time.

However, Ashley had pretty narrow hips before and your first child inevitably spreads your hips. Even if she loses the weight, you can’t lose hips. But she will still look great. A size 0 on a 5’7″ woman is just too small.

Didn’t she at one time suffer from an eating disorder? I really hope she is past all that.

With my last child, my OB didn’t say a word about my weight gain, which was so much, I am embarrassed to include it here.
My son was huge, I had gestational diabetes that went undiagnosed, to me. I only found that tidbit out when my lawyers unearthed it in my lab records during my lawsuit against my OB.

Enchantress is right, GD is dangerous. Ashlee would look more bloated if this were the case. She looks just fine to me.

“Today I read on a blog that I went to the doctor and he said I was overweight and I cried and went to Planet Blue (because I was blue) and bought 6 pair of size 0 jeans,” Ashlee, 23, wrote on her MySpace page. “My doctor says I am right on target with my weight gain, have not been to Planet Blue in at least two years, love my maternity jeans… they have stretchy tops it is awesome!”

Ashlee joked “My closet full of size 0’s are being worn by [husband Pete Wentz] right now and he looks hot in the them:).”

    LMAO… she’s funny.
