Britney might perform at the VMAs after all

Is Britney or isn’t Britney performing at the VMAs this year? The 26 year-old pop princess and divorced mother of two has cleaned up considerably and her life, body and affairs seem generally in order. It may be a good time for her to perform again, but if it doesn’t go well she could suffer another setback. She still seems vulnerable to me, but maybe now is as good a time as any for her and she may as well go for it.

Fox News reports that while Britney’s manager has denied that she’ll be performing at the VMAs and says she’ll only be presenting, there are preparations in order that suggest that she’s staging some kind of surprise show. Earlier reports had her presenting an award along with record-setting Olympian Michael Phelps.

Whether or not Britney will be shaking her stuff on stage, she has scheduled an upcoming event appearance, which will be her first official pre-arranged party appearance in over a year.

We’re told that everyone from the production crew to wardrobe are preparing for the pop princess to make a comeback, although nobody from MTV would officially confirm.

What’s interesting is that an inside source said Britney has her own dressing room. Either the gal is getting super-special treatment or she will do a little more than simply hand out an award.

The pop princess has also RSVP’d for 944 Magazine’s MTV VMA pre-party to be held at Hollywood hotspot Kress on Wednesday. So if Miss Spears does show that will mark her first officially scheduled party appearance since she launched Las Vegas club LAX exactly one year ago.

Christina Aguilera and Madonna are likely to put on surprise performances too, according to Fox News. There’s speculation that they’re going to try and recreate the famous 2003 kiss. If so, Katy Perry wants to be in on it. Couldn’t they come up with something new? I’m so tired of that “I Kissed a Girl” song.

The 2008 VMAs air on Sunday, September 7th.

  2. Vdantev - I hope that’ not true. Would we all be cool with some 23 (?? she looks more like 32, just saying) yr old male kissing a 15 year old boy or girl, I think not.

Katy Perry = DESPERATE, annoying slag.

**are we sure she’s not related to that wanna be preggers man/woman?

  3. Are they still making videos these days! i thought Mtv only had those crappy reality shows now! Does anyone even watch the VMA’s? I wish Brit would just retire already, i mean she’s a few years younger then me, but she looks older then my mom! Who gives a shit about some white trash scank anyway! i say let her perform and maybe she’ll go down with this sinking ship.
