Anyone should be able to speak their mind about politics or any subject, no matter their profession. Maybe Ms. Roberts sees herself as a celebrity first and a citizen second. That’s unfortunate.

She’s a hypocrite. Just Google Julia Roberts and politics and you’ll see she’s shot off her mouth before too re: Bush, Republicans etc.

diva, i don’t think patriotism is politics.
but the video for that song seemed to me to have a clear message of: the iraqis love us, want us here, and we are doing right by them. basically, pro-war.

I agree with her as well. She professed a dislike for the president and took up for his daughter, that’s not necessarily politics – depending upon your viewpoint. I don’t recall hearing that she voted for Al Gore though — never heard a pro Dem or Republican stance from her either way. It’s ok to be human and voice an opinion, but openly supporting a candidate one way or the other – maybe that’s just not her thing.

Ugh. I recall her nasty comments about republicans a couple of years back, so her statement is self-serving garbage, IMO.

I understand what she means about having that voice in the back of your mind while watching an actor perform…I can barely stand to watch Everybody Loves Raymond now because I find Patricia Heaton’s politics repugnant. It shouldn’t matter because it has nothing to do with the job but the knowledge is there now. I can’t ‘unknow’ it

didn’t kid rock write a song, “american warrior” for a recruitment campaign.
the video shows american soldiers in baghdad, one of them playfully kicks a football towards a muslim kid and everyone smiles. am i the only one who picks up a slight hint of political opinion there?
