Maybe she just wants to interact with her audience but does it too much?
Hell I dont know, I’m out of excuses for today.

This is painful to watch because I do think she’s a sweetheart.
I think she is totally out of her element and knows it. Just because she’s from Texas doesn’t make her country. Country isn’t a place, it’s a state of mind and its music another language of the heart. She’s not ‘feeling’ it. Her attempts at being down-home are just embarrassing and inappropriate.
She needs an appointment with Kylie Minogue and a good euro-dance producer.

Comparative of stupid is dumber.
Stupider does not exist. (English is my second language…)

I’ve heard one song from this move to country thing and it was far from unenjoyable. It’s a nice, harmless, song, just like the rest of young country makes these days. She no less talented than a huge handful of people out there.

I just don’t understand this…if I had her $$$$ I’d go live someplace quietly but I guess she really loves to sing.
On a side note, how does she get her toots to smell like roses? Because when I toot, even small, tiny toots….it smells like a decomposing corpse. Seriously, I need to know. The other day I tooted at my home, in my living room and then, about fifteen minutes later I decided to ride my bike to the market…..I SWEAR to God, I was so embarressed because all I could smell at the checkout was my toot and I thought for sure everyone was like, ewwwww smell her toot! Maybe she’ll open up at her next show.
We must BOTH have the oversharing gene

She just needs girlfriends. TRUE girlfriends. Chicks who truly care about her and who’ll tell her what’s what, keep her from making an ass of herself all the time.
I ALSO think she needs to leave the spotlight for a bit. And she can take her twatty sister with her. Except I want Jessica to come back at some point. Ashlee can stay wherever they take her…

Sigh. It’s not that I *like* Jessica, it’s that I feel bad for the poor girl, and thus I tend to defend her.
Even if she is oversharing, there seems to be a market for it. Somebody’s buying those concert tickets, people!

She’s nervous. I would be, too, if I was a national punchline.

I love how Jessica invokes God and her religion when it can help her career and then goes out and dresses like a cheap hooker, signs on to promote beer and talks about sleeping on an air mattress with her boyfriend Romo in his parents house. Is there a bigger phony out there? I racked my brain and can’t think of one even close.

Perhaps a life coach would say, “Just stand there and look blond and shut the fruck up!

Kaiser: It’s really starting to bother me that she is publically saying how difficult it is to live with the negative press, yet she continues to get hammered for just breathing. There does seem to be a market for her over sharing and self-deprecating humor, and it’s disappointing that the tabloids think it is out of fashion to enjoy an “I Love Lucy” type laugh with a celebrity. That is who she reminds me of. Unscripted, unorganized, unpredictable, and very funny.
Stella: God-fearing, religious people do not all dress like Quakers and live on a farm for easy identification. We drink beer and we come in all shapes and sizes, with different wardrobes and different opinions, but speaking easily about our love of God is usually a common denominator. You might not like her clothes or sleeping arrangements, but don’t you think questioning her heart should be left to a greater power?

Amen, AE!

AE – Yeah, that’s right. She’s not my cup of tea, but she seems like a basically harmless person. Yet people keep piling on… it’s starting to bother me a little too.

Diva: I just listened to her album on YouTube, and either she made powerful enemies with the tabs or her competition is running scared, because she has several very good songs on that album. In fact, “Still Don’t Stop Me” and “Do You Know” are excellent. My husband is going to reap the benefits of “Do You Know” when I try to sing it to him tonight (sorry for the over share).
Kaiser: This is off topic, but I read your campaign experience and felt very bad. It sucks being on the losing end after so much heart and guts go into it. You seem to be such a softy with tuff edges (meant as a compliment), that I’m sure it was more than disappointing. You and Daisy424 have such distinctive writing styles that I can almost pick your comments out without looking at the names. I’ve been working a hellish schedule for the past 2 weeks and haven’t really had time to comment, but your campaign story stuck with me.

It seems that she wears her heart on her sleeve. Some people never learn.

“Celebitchy thinks that Jessica needs people to like her and is too much of a people pleaser.”
I feel for her. Trying to get everyone to love you is the kiss of death and learning that it’s impossible and, more important, irrelevant, is an important step in a good direction.

@AE – Thanks for the kind words – and it turned out okay. In the 2006 mid-terms (a few years after the campaign I worked on), the Republican got his a$$ handed to him.
And the point I was trying to make was that voters (like consumers, to go back on topic with Jessica Simpson) decide for themselves what they want to care about, and who’s personal life disgusts them, even if it is “the politics of personality.”

I dunno if anybody pointed this out (scanned comments pretty quickly), but she sounds like she did some nose candy. I’ve heard of nervousness like that before too but you’d think that after the first concert she’d snap it down a bit. Plus I can kinda see zany coke eye-thing going on

Wow. Yet another horrible performance from Jessica. If I would have been the drummer I would have thrown my sticks at her! Here’s a link to the performance today for Good Morning America.
