‘X-Men: First Class’ trailer is better than expected

xmen6

I spent much of Thursday waiting for my beloved Michael Fassbender to materialize, like a shining Irish Dong, glittering in all his glory in the stark winter light. Yes, My Fasslove has taken a poetic turn. Anyway, I was waiting for the first trailer for X-Men: First Class to appear, and finally it has. There’s lots of good Fassbender action, and enough James McAvoy (doing a weird accent… English with Scottish lilts?) to appease the McAvoy-loonies. Here you go:

There are some new promotional images to along with this, but I just screencapped the junk, so hopefully the studio won’t wet themselves and yell at me (fingers crossed). The roll-out from the studio has been tortured, to say the least, what with those craptastic first images that looked extremely budget. After that, both James and Michael were sent out to soothe the fanboys and the accent-fetishist ladies. This trailer helps, I think. The quality looks solid, and I’m actually getting a bit excited to see this.

Also, you should read Bedhead’s take on it. I think she’s talking about me! “ORGASM!!!! Can’t wait. Michael Fassbender can do NO WRONG!”

  3. Quest says:

    OMFG!

I think my nipples are getting hard just thinking about Michael and James in these yellow and black clingers.

    Is X-men Rated “Dong”?

  4. Sophie says:

yeah, it looks really really good, and I’m not even an X-Men fangirl!

Also Kaiser, Apple has a clip from the new Jane Eyre movie, go here to see it: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/focus_features/janeeyre/

    He looks so soo good

  5. Kaiser says:

Quest – LMAO. The movie just needs Michael & James wandering around shirtless and it will be a massive hit.

Sophie – Yes, I saw that! I put it in the links yesterday.

    @ Kaiser:

I think there’s a chance you’ll post Groundskeeper McAvoy tomorrow for HGF. I’m ok with that (love him too! and he’s “pocket-size” like myself), but can I ask you some Paul Bettany? Yeah, I’m a convert now…he went from my “meh” list to the “guys I’d love to ride like seabiscuit” one in less than a week.

EDIT: posted the same comment on another JM thread (not sure if you read it).

  7. Kaiser says:

Eve – Alas, no Fassdong or McAvoy-dong in HGF this week. And no Paul Bettany either! Maybe I’ll do “The Dong Trifecta” next week. There’s always the archives!

  8. Eve says:

    @ Kaiser:

Awwwwwww *puppy eyes*. I understand. Well, I’m waiting for the next week post then (meanwhile, I’ll check the archives).

  9. Quest says:

    @ Kaiser:

This is an event that should be honoured by the presence of both Celebitchy and Kaiser together. Shirtless M&J – luv it.

  10. Rasputina says:

Jesus these two men are beautiful. I’m overwhelmed OH MY GOD OH MY GOD IT’S A DOUBLE DONG! WHAT DOES THIS M E A N? Does it mean that we’ll get McAdorable and Fassdong for HGF?

    No? YOU MONSTER!

  11. serena says:

uhm, I love x-men, but the actor should switch places, because they’re not very similar to the old ones.
James McAvoy should have played Magneto, he seems more like him.

  12. Trace says:

Can’t wait to see these! Love James McAvoy!

  13. eja102 says:

    yahoo!

I am so looking forward to X men without Wolverine.

  14. Tammy says:

    The trailer is very impressive….

McAvoyloonies works but we are actually known as McAvoyeurs 🙂

    “Worst. Movie Trailer. Ever.”

Ok, so maybe it wasn’t that bad – but you need more than hot dong and accents to appease this X-Men fangirl. (Or to make me forget they’ve cast January Jones as one of my favorite villianesses. I have little faith in her beyond her tatas.)

    . . . I did squee when I saw my Nightcrawler *BAMF*

(ETA: I totally feel like the lone nerd in this discussion – high school all over again! If anyone needs me, I’ll be in the west cafeteria trading comic books and finalizing my D&D quest with the rest of the nerds at the back table – per usual. 😉 )

  16. I Choose Me says:

I’m so excited for this movie. Can’t wait!!!!

Oh and my love for Mr. Fassbender increases exponentially with every viewing of his lovely face onscreen. Surely Kaiser and AgentBedhead are willing to share? 😀

  17. “[L]ike a shining Irish Dong”

Much better than a sparkling dong!

  18. jinni says:

Missy A, that’s not Nightcrawler that’s Azazel the demon guy that they retconned in the comic books to be Kurt’s father.

    As for the trailer:

It’s nicely done and all but the movie so throughly f*cks up the X-men methos that I can’t even really be excited. Xavier and Erik weren’t even working with each other anymore by the time Prof. created the original X-men. Plus, except for Beast none of these characters were a part of the original five. It would have been great to see the banter between Beast and Iceman, but since they made Bobby a teen in the first three movie that’s never going to happen.

Lastly, why would they forgo putting one of the classic/more interesting X-character in this group (since they obviously don’t care about being true to the comics), but add Angel Salvadore (Zoe Kravitz’s) character? She was so lame in the comics. I just don’t get it.

  19. Yasmine says:

@Rita: omg you always have the funniest comments!!! This one was priceless!
Another reason to be a proud reader of this site: HGF introduced me to assbender! Thanks Kasier!

  20. LittleDeadGirl says:

#18 My thoughts exactly. There’s alot of hotness but I’m an xmen fan girl. It was the first comic book I bought and I loved it. I won’t hold it against them that they don’t stay true to the comics but if they don’t … which they obviously aren’t … they better fucking do a good job acting and script wise. It just looks like another tragic xmen 3 to me … -sigh- can they just leave my childhood alone it’s beginning to hurt now.

  21. pinns says:

I think McAvoy’s “weird accent thing” is because he is trying to copy the way Patrick Stewart speaks, like Ewan MacGregor tried to do as Obi-Wan in the Star Wars prequels. His speech pattern isn’t too bad from that short clip, you can just about get it, but unfortunately he doesn’t have a deep enough voice for it. I looove James McAvoy though, and I will see this only for him!! He would in fact be my lover now – if only I had actually met him while he still worked in my Marks & Spencers!!

  22. Patrice says:

Oh my God, oh my God, oh my GOD this is going to be amazing! I am a HUGE X-Men geek (I even used to watch the cartoon as a kid) and I have just adored all of the films in this franchise so far (some more than others…).

Magneto is my favorite character in the series so imagine my lust when they announced that ‘BENDER would be playing him?! Swoon. Not to mention what a cute and talented guy James McAvoy is….

The only complaint I have is that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan have such unique and POWERFUL voices; it’s too bad that the new guys didn’t seem to try to capture that at all (at least in the clip). But who knows? Maybe that proved to be too difficult?

In any case, really looking forward to this flick : )
