Christina Aguilera’s drunk ass fell on stage at the Grammys

fp_6549399_rij_68th_golden_globes_37_123

Christina Aguilera spent the last week being soundly criticized for flubbing the lyrics to the National Anthem at the SuperBowl. The whole incident created a national conversation: should Christina use a Teleprompter at all times? Should her drunk ass go to rehab? Should she fire all of her management for suggesting that she’s a hot mess? Should Christina be uninvited from the Grammys? Well, Xtina didn’t cancel, and she performed at last night’s Grammys, during the tribute to Aretha Franklin. First off: she didn’t flub any of the lyrics, although many are suggesting that she had some miscues and was “unintelligible” – meaning that maybe she didn’t get the lyrics right, but no one could tell because she was drunk. Victory! Second: she did try to “out-sing” all of the other women. Tacky. Third: Her drunk ass fell right after the song was done. Oh, Christina. Apparently, you can see her falling around the 29 second mark of this video:

You can see her fall a little bit better on this video:

Ugh. Do you think two critically lampooned performances in one week’s time will be enough of a wakeup call for Christina? Probably not. She’s probably on her 20th tequlia shot as we speak.

    Yeah….what a mess!

  2. Hautie says:

Well she tripped at the Super Bowl too. Right as she started down the hall way right after leaving the field.

The local FOX channel (Dallas) showed it many times the day after the game.

But sadly, I was too distract by that tragic wig on her head last night, to pay attention to much else.

Geez she needs a wig intervention. ASAP.

  3. kelbear says:

If any of the other 4 had tripped nothing would of been said.

  4. lilred says:

Cue Brittany’s pink wig and fake english accent…time for Brittany to pass the crazy torch.

  5. mln76 says:

That’s really embarrassing. I am cringing for her. I feel really bad for her son. This girl needs some help.

  6. devilgirl says:

I don’t buy she was drunk. I think she was just sewn in that dress too tight and she cannot walk in heels.

I am not saying she ISN’T a drunk, but I think that after the Super Bowl humiliation last week, she probably saved the alcohol for later.

I think she tries too many vocal gymnastics and last night they made her sound as if she had a mouth full of hair.

Either way, I am tired of her. The other women were far superior with their vocals to Aguilera last night, and she tried to hog the spotlight. FAIL.

  7. Tess says:

If she needs help, I hope she gets it because I think she’s a great talent.

  8. Marjalane says:

I got into quite the discussion with my sisters about her hair don’t- I swore it had to be a wig- like a 19.99 Beauty Brands wig, and they thought it was just years of fried hair and bad extensions. Regardless- she needs to FIRE her stylists NOW. She looked utterly ridiculous last night, and MichaelK called it after the Superbowl; She looks like she’s trying to delivery a baby through her mouth. It’s ugly and she needs to take a year off and get herself together.

  9. Tiffany says:

Kaiser, I don’t understand why she continues to colaberate with peoplewhen she does crap. Take a break? Cancel? Hell no!!! She loves attention to much, no matter how she gets it. Her shanagians are not even entertaining at this point, it is frustrating and makes me turn off anything she is apart of. With Brittany, that was someone you were rooting to come back strong, this one, she is burning all bridges. If that blind item I read was right and she is doing this for press, thats it no comeback derserved.

  10. Dr_Venkman says:

It’s the Grammys, who isn’t drunk?

  11. MSat says:

OMG, please. Xtina was great during the performance. She sang one of Aretha’s most difficult songs, “Ain’t No Way,” and she did a great job. So she fell, so what?

I agree that she isn’t the same girl who owned the Grammys stage 4 years ago when she belted out “Man’s World” by James Brown.

  12. jaye E says:

She annoys me because she’s always trying to sing the hell out of a song. I appreciate a singer more when they finesse a song and show their skill as a vocalist and build to a crescendo. With Aguilera, it’s all crescendo, all the time.

  13. escapee says:

@devilgirl – I thought the same thing about her dress being too tight to move right in.

It was a tribute to a diva – they were all trying to outdo each other as divas should. I think Christina was giving it her all as she should while doing a tribute. Had she not been over the top, she propbably would have been accused of being drunk to the point of being lethargic

  14. ghostwriter says:

She said a few words after during the actual presentation and didn’t sound drunk. IMO – too tall heels.

Off thread – Goopy awkward in her catsuit as she scrambled/tottered onto the piano – OMG!

  15. Lesley says:

Her face is so plumped up. It’s either fillers or booze.

  16. Isabel says:

HA – I did not see her fall last night. That just sucks. I was giving her some credit.

As for her face…booze bloat, people. Booze bloat. Her liver can’t keep up.

  17. cat says:

The fall could be because of the heels, but there is no excuse for that nasty hair, has she heard of a comb and those red lip makes her look like ronald mcdonald.
I’m liking Jennifer Hudson more and more, she seems classy and in control of her career. Plus i love her voice, she doesn’t try to over sing everything, Xtina take note.

  18. MSat says:

Personally, I was more embarassed for Lady Gaga and her Madonna impersonation. She’s a joke, when is her adoring public going to realize that?

  19. TG says:

Jennifer Hudson was the best in my opinion though I thought they all were good. I even watch Hudson”s weight watcher’s commercial or is it jenny craig just to hear her powerful singing voice.

  20. Cary says:

MSat and escapee@ I agree with both of you Christina did a really great job during the performance and all the ladies were trying to outdo each other, I’m mean they were giving tribute to Aretha Franklin queen diva.

  21. Justaposter says:

I missed that part of the show.. but girl.. if you can’t handle the heels, don’t even try them!

If she was drunk, I really hope she got the cold shoulder treatment from everyone after that.

  22. dread pirate cuervo says:

I think Christina was making sounds more than singing lyrics, depending on her huge voice to cover it up. She was definitely trying to outsing the other chicks but that Yolanda gospel singer lady put her to shame.

  23. eja102 says:

when Gaga falls, it’s all over youtube. It’s not just Xtina falling.

I won’t listen to her sing, so I’ve no comment on the screeching.

I don’t understand, if she was drunk, why someone would give her the cold shoulder.

  24. LittleFATMe says:

Can we offically change pulling a Brittany to pulling a Xtina?

  25. dorothy says:

I hope she doesn’t go the way of Brittany after her divorce.

  26. Justaposter says:

Eja because this chick is a train wreck and she needs some serious intervention!

And when you are doing Aretha, you don’t mess up!

  27. Dana M says:

@MSat – I was thinking the exact same thing.

. Xtina was awesome last night.
Too bad she slipped. I think her dress was not hemmed up right- she is a bit short. I would be more embarrassed to be lady gaga. What a strange cookie. She recently admitted to smoking pot while writing lyrics on 60 minutes. She also tries too hard for the shock factor. And her new song sounds just like Madonna’s “Express Yourself.”

  28. Jezi says:

IMO Jennifer Hudson was the best. She has a strong voice and actually sings words. XTina has a great voice but all she does is belt out moans, where’s the singing?

  29. skye says:

the shot is from so far away, she could simply be taking a dramatic bow for all we know.
amendment: oops, posted that before i watched the 2nd vid, haha.

  30. Dorothy says:

It’s a wake up call people for her to get help. She nearly fell at the SAG awards, At the Super Bowl and now at the Grammys? Sure she can sing, but it doesn’t suffice for the fact that she needs help!

  31. Dana M says:

I also think Jennifer Hudson rocked it. She was my favorite from the group of ladies.

  32. Jayna says:

Most people are over the vendetta against Christina. Every awards show someone trips on their long gown and almost falls. Big deal. To put a headline, drunk, shame on celebitchy. Most posters on all the sites are feeling the same as me and are over it and a backlash on the dumping on Christina. But Celebitchy went to a new low, calling her drunk. Great performance by all the women for the greatest soul singer of all time. Why not something about that? And she came out and was the one to present an award out of all the girls and did great. Definitely not drunk.

  33. Blaster says:

Agree with MSat. That was one of Aretha’s hardest song. And did people watch the same performance that I did??? That last high note she hit was amazing.

And she was not upstaging anyone. They each had their own songs and she was just fine singing back-up.

  34. Alexa says:

WTF?! Why didn’t I get the memo demanding that all people must demonstrate disdain for Christina Aguilera or incur swift and severe punishment? Would someone please forward me a copy?

  35. ThatBoyLuke says:

I’m so dissapointed in Kaiser i thought after lastnight you’d finally give her some props and positive feedback but no you’d rather just continue bashing her for no reason…
XTina was AMAZING she didn’t try and “outsing” anybody they all gave their all and in fact Christina showed more restraint than she usually does and gave an AMAZING performance especially since the pressure after Superbowl must have been huge.
She hit notes i havn’t heard for years and she SLAYED all competition but instead you wanna focus on a small stumble that lasted 2 seconds and she didn’t even touch the ground? that’s sad… she obviously wasn’t drunk and it’s sad that you’d imply it for no reason.

  36. irishserra says:

Derp. Now I feel stupid. I thought that Whitney was in the mix at first glance.

  37. Jen says:

OT but did anyone else notice at :38 on the first video? Who’s right there with her smug smirk and rent boy? That’s right — Celebitchy’s official mascot: LeeAnn Rimes! Why is she there? Has she done anything significant in, oh, twenty years?

  38. TaylorB says:

To be honest I do not like Christina, the way she overworks songs is irritating. But I can’t say I think she was drunk, because really did you see those shoes? And that dress? How can anyone be expected to stand, let alone walk in that stuff. Might as well have wrapped her up like a mummy and set her on stilts.

Then again she could have been three sheets to the wind.

  39. MMJJ says:

I wouldn’t assume she was drunk. Tight dress + high heels = trouble.

  40. Mia says:

She wasn’t drunk. When she came out to present the 1st award, she was lucid. So how do people explain that? She took something to instantly sober her up? No. She wasn’t drunk to begin with. Her dress was either too tight or her heels too high. Hell, Gwynnie almost crashed and burned in those ridiculous heels she was wearing.

People just want to pile on the crap. Christina sang great last night. Yes, her hair was big, but it wasn’t as bad as it has been.

  41. Angel says:

Why do people do this to women after they divorce? Britney, Kate, Christina, the list goes on and on.

She isn’t a mess or a drunk or a hazard to her poor pitiful son; she is a person who makes mistakes and as soon as we spot vulnerability we are compelled to zero in on every damn one of them. –That it’s always so harsh for female celebrities only after a divorce/break up just speaks of the inherent misogyny in all of us, re: we are nothing and capable of nothing without our man.

Sure this isn’t always the case, like with Sandra Bullock for example, but still many tried it despite the support she got for clearly being the victim. Keyword, clearly. Without a shadow of a doubt–a victim–that’s when you’ll earn compassion and leniency. Otherwise you’re a worthless/unworthy self-defeating trollop, I suppose.

So gross, but if that’s the trope you’d like to push … go for I guess. It’s not hard to do.

  42. TaylorB says:

I must say, just an observation, is it just me or were almost all of the women last night wearing ungodly high heels? I can’t imagine trying to walk in those things, let alone navigate stairs etc. with flashing lights and an audience. I am shocked that more of them didn’t crash and burn in those shoes.

  43. CaramelKiss says:

Christina’s ego is way off the charts… I saw JHud step back off the mic as if she’d been warned to NOT outsing Xtina as she clearly could have…

  44. Moreaces says:

I saw that particular performance, and I missed the fall, she did not seem drunk while singing, I know a lot of folks dont like her, but I do think she has some serious pipes, she may have come out during the time that Britney did, they both were on that Micky Mouse show, but she is no Britney, IMO she has true talent

  45. womanfromthenorth says:

Did you see all the shoes? Looked like none of them could walk in them… and yes I watched all of the show.

  46. DeE says:

She wasn’t drunk….I watched the video of the singers and they all were great…Christina was the best though I love JH and YA. Christina has been blessed with some serious vocals!

  47. original kate says:

between the heels, the tight dress and the wig no wonder she tripped. drunk? maybe. maybe not.

  48. skibunny says:

Whatever about her personal life, that’s her business. The girl can sing!!!

  49. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

But it wasn’t a competition, that’s the point. When professionals start treating colleagues as competition, guard your ears! When that spirit infects a collaboration, just stay home because the original spirit of the event got lost a while ago.

To me, flinging your index finger around and ordering the notes out of your mouth in some kind of neverending chamber of melisma pain is less singing than something that makes you want to pour bleach in your ears. When you’re blessed/cursed a piece of such magnitude I’m taking a conventional guess and assuming it’s quite scary. I just don’t feel like watching it get scared into submission.

It’s a waste since we all know she talented, but she’s just so damned unbearable. ‘Pin the mic on the air raid siren’ is more than I can take. I agree wholeheartedly with whoever said that screaming isn’t singing, you can already sing why are you doing this crap?

A tribute is a tribute when it’s given in spirit of affection and admiration, what’s not a tribute is turning the event into a blatant display of jockeying for someone’s crown. I have to wonder what’s so wonderful about being a diva, since all it seems to mean is you get to treat people like garbage and rapidly switch between rages and kittenish fragility.

  50. hmm(the original) says:

So many of you have already said it, but I really am tired of the “I hate Xtina” fan club that goes on amongst certain bloggers. There always seems to be a concerted effort to paint her as ugly, fat, untalented, or sloppy at all times. It didn’t matter how well she did last night some people were just waiting for the opportunity to go after her. The fall at the end just provided the ammunition. If Gaga fell the same people talking would have been saying “OMG, her AMAZING performance simply drained her of all of her energy because you know she’s the GREATEST artist of all time.” On that note, I think all of the ladies did a great job.

  51. JenJen says:

I thought it was Hollywood BS that she was given the first solo to an Aretha classic. She went overboard (of course). I would love to have heard Jennifer Hudson’s thoughts because her expression said so much, knowing she will probably be playing Aretha in the movie.

  52. Kim says:

That Boy Luke- If you love her so much certainly you hope she gets the help she needs for her drinking problem (YES it is a problem). She is a mess!

  53. dovesgate says:

Jennifer Hudson is playing Aretha for sure? That’s going to be one heck of a performance!

All the ladies did well last night. Christina always shows off her vocal range – I don’t think at this point she could sing a song without all those riffs. However, thats her style and I can’t fault her for rocking it out the way she does.

  54. Catherine says:

Why is her face so puffy??

  55. Louise says:

I think it’s really unfair and reaching to say that Christina was drunk. More than likely she just slipped because of the high heels and the slippery stage.

  56. the other mel says:

I agree with Louise (55)…I’m only surprised more women aren’t falling all over the place in those mile high platforms they’re all wearing. I do love them, but god help me…I wouldn’t be able to walk 3 steps, let along glide across a shiny stage in a skin tight dress. Several models fell off their shoes during Fashion Week. And damn…the girl can sing.

  57. LOL says:

LOL at Kim: ‘YES it is a problem.’ Sounds like the tabs with their ‘YES, they’re dating!’ ‘YES, Brad and Jen are talking’
Good to know you know Xtina personally and know for a fact that she has a problem 🙂

  58. Isa says:

While Christina does have a powerful voice, most of the time it’s just not pretty. Especially the way she abuses it.

  59. Conando says:

What a moronic article. She sounded great and she wasn’t drunk. The nitpicking & hating is beyond tiresome and makes you look worse than you could ever hope to make her look.

  60. whitedaisy says:

I heard her performance and was very impressed with her voice.
She may well have some demons left over from her Disney upbringing. Don’t they all?

  61. Tiffany says:

Here is my Christina beef. Girl has got amazing pipes, for real. No auto-tune, she can sing.
I f’ing HATE her microphone finger tapping thing she does and always has done to the point I can hardly watch her. I wish she would sing without all the vocal gymnastics, as she did in Beautiful, which was a great song without all the fireworks.
I love me some towering platforms, but you risk serious ankle damage, and falling is ALWAYS a possibility!

  62. RAD says:

People Jennifer Hudson held back it’s clear when they first came out anyone hardly clapped when they said Snookieleras name the producers wanted to help her out the girls didn’t look too happy about it Jennifer has some better vocals and wasn’t using them anyone could see that.Christina clearly was yelling, screeching throughout the whole song Christina is very arrogant falling was the result of that.I think she needs a new stylist as well the hatchet look from cry baby is not helping.

  63. ThatBoyLuke says:

@Kim, if Christina has a drinking problem then yes of course i’d like her to get help but where is your proof besides her going clubbing a few times and getting drunk at a party after she split from her husband?
Pretty routine stuff IMO it’s not like she’s wearing a pink wig and beating cars with umbrellas like britney was.
Also it’s blatent that she wasn’t drunk during this performance and that she nailed it so all i’m saying is could we have a little positivity istead of fixating on one 2 second stumble caused by heels and a dress?

@Rad, Jennifer has an amazing voice but i don’t think she held back at all and i’m sorry but when XTina hit that high note the audience clapped so wtf you talking about? #StayMad

  64. fwozbo says:

My father the music teacher actually likes Brittany’s voice better. He says Brittany does a better vibrato ( it should not be big a wobbly like Christina’s). She may have a stronger voice but not a better one.

  65. O.K. says:

Thank You Kaiser for telling it like it is.Not only was she drunk, she was oversinging and she’s freaking ugly and they call this talent.

  66. Liana says:

She hit notes i havn’t heard for years and she SLAYED all competition

    *************

It wasn’t a competition. It was a tribute.

  67. HotMezz says:

Hold up. Bitch is two feet away from crackhead Whitney Houston and is criticized for stumbling in on skin-tight dress? Please.

  68. HotMezz says:

Hold up. Honey is two feet away from crackhead Whitney Houston and a stumble in a skin-tight dress gets her static? Please.

  69. HotMezz says:

I edited because I thought I wasn’t getting published b/c of the profanity. Sorry for double post!

  70. Hello there, You’ve performed a great job. I will certainly digg it and in my view recommend to my friends. I’m confident they will be benefited from this website.
