geronimo and Kaiser, I am LOL at your comments. I also am a big fan of Malkovich, and together with my girl Angie, this is a cant-miss movie for me. Angie portrays such vulnerability and confusion in the trailer, which in so unlike her in her previous roles.

Shockingly, perhaps it’s just every individual’s perception. I think Jolie is one the best actresses working today – she’s been crap in a few roles (Life or Something Like It), but she’s made more films that I enjoy than most actresses. Often, for me, she’s the best part of an otherwise mediocre film (Bone Collector, Pushing Tin, Taking Lives).

For me, I think the $hittiest actresses working today are: Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz, Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel. Their horrible acting has destroyed too many films.

Boo. Was settling in for a ZOMG SLUT FIGHT.

Yeah, period pieces when they get it right are so atmospheric. But re Malkovich, for me it’s his VOICE most of all. Man just lulls me into a speechless state of submission. Don’t even care what he’s saying half the time, he opens his mouth and I’m *there*.

@Mairead – Yep. Eastwood’s attention to detail, and the production teams he works with are incredible. You know what the costumes/sets/acting suggests to me? LA Confidential, one of my favorite movies. Different era, true, but it gives off a similar production vibe.

Edit: SLUT? lol… But, hey, considering Gerry Butler is dead to me, I have to fantasize about somebody… Malkovich and Jolie are fine replacements. Slut.

Sorry Kaiser, I missed your “costume porn” comment earlier Absolutely perfect term – it suits it to a “T”; the styling and attention to detail even in the bits we see in the trailer looks amazing. It doesn’t look like it’s being filmed in digital to me either – or they’re doing something to really make the textures stand out – I mean, I just want to stroke the velvet on the sofa behind Angie.

I love Deco styling and materials too – seeing chrome, Vitrolite and Bakelite (like the phone she’s holding) on a building just makes me smile and want to hug it
