Johnny Depp has looked like this for too long, I think. When I’m looking through photos of Johnny and the first thing that I notice is that he’s still accessorizing his outfits with a dong sheath/hankie that was all over the place during The Tourist’s promotion, you know he needs to change up his look. Maybe Johnny is like so many of those former pretty-boys, still trying to screw up his appearance so people will focus on the work rather than the pretty. But isn’t Johnny far enough from his pretty-boy past? Isn’t this current dirty, dong-hankie incarnation just his style at this point?
Also: those pants are as bad as Christina Hendricks’ faux-maternitywear. Is Johnny wearing OshKoshB’gosh?
Anyway, these are photos of Johnny yesterday, at the premiere of Rango. Johnny is currently promoting his voice work, as the lead “Rango”. Who is some kind of desert lizard, I think. When CB and I went to see True Grit, we saw the trailer for Rango, and I’ll admit, it did look cute.
I like how the lizard kind of looks like Johnny… and like Hunter S. Thompson…?
Oh, and I guess Isla Fisher is in it too. Why is there so much too-bright turquoise/cerulean lately?

I know I’m in minority but I just don’t care about him privately, his dressing style included. As an actor I find him wonderful but beyond acting not so much.
I really don’t care what he wears at this point…Johnny will always be my dirty little crush and can wear his tidy-whities to a premier for all I care (he has to do something to ward off the chicas).

I hate how he dresses. I wish he dressed more like Matt Damon when Matt doesn’t have his stylists. You know how sometimes he is all jeans, teeshirts, clunky shoes and baseball caps. And other times he looks kind of like a frumpy Classics professor with glasses, tweed, grey around the timples. But it looks so good on Matt and takes little effort to pull off. I think Johnny could pull it off easily and it wouldn’t make him look to polished or beefcake or like he was trying too hard.
Johnny is just steady state cool but when @JohnnyDepp’sGirl shows up, that lizard will lose its shirt.

There’s some weird story floating around that Johnny, when asked about Justin Beiber, said he was “a belieber”. Between that and The Tourist, Johnny is losing some cred with me. I still love him though.

Johnny is getting to an age where he needs to re-arrange himself. He needs to cut his hair, dress more appropriately, and change this look he’s had for what seems like 20 years. He’s hiding a very good-looking man inside a homeless person!

I’m just wondering: what does “age appropriate” really mean?
Alot of people say this and not just about Johnny Depp but other celebs as well. So is there a guideline somewhere that says from this age to that age you can wear a mini skirt then from that age to that age you need to add so and so inches, you can’t wear clothes too tight, you need to cut your hair by this age, you shouldn’t wear a bikini anymore….etc,etc, etc.
I thought that once an adult you could wear whatever you please, and that it’s all based on personal choice. How you want to look, what image you want to project. So why does Johnny need to cut his hair or need to dress differently? Maybe he is comfortable that way. Just like why should Ivana have to wear a one piece and not a bikini? For me, as long as they are not walking around naked, or using good meat as clothing, they’re fine.
I think Johnny has over-exposed himself. He has become commercial. His air of mystique is no more. He needs to pick his projects with more discernment & do less movies. It’s so funny…this all seems to have started with The Tourist. hmmmmm…

He can’t dress and hasn’t in 12 years now. Always looks (and sounds) nearly drunk and like a 7 year old dressed him. VERY, VERY much over-accessorizes. Sign of neurosis..lol.

Good actor, greact actor in the right roles. However, too many decades spent fighting looking hot so that people will take him seriously. Now that he’s pushing 50 and his artistry is firmly established, I think that it’s tme that he dropped the tedious boho style. Needs shave, decent haircut and nice suit, esp. when he’s doing promo/red carpet. Boho no more no more in public.

“Johnny Depp can do now wrong.” Whatever. I call it, something is psychologically wrong with him. He only excels in roles where he hides behind makeup and costume, and he pretty much lives his everyday life the same way, like he’s in custume. My son actually thinks he doesn’t shower. He used to think he was the sh_t, but he’s lost interest. I’ve never been into his “yeah, I’m a proud weirdo” look and “yeah, I’m uber cool” persona. It’s offputting and bull****.

Who cares what he wears, he has his own style, why should he conform, he’s a bit of a chameleon, he seems to be able to change to suit his roles. He has more than everyday good looks he has the sort of bone structure that will ensure that he will always look good even as he ages. I am a big fan and always will be, I think a bit of grunge is interesting, anyway everyone knows he scrubs up beautifully.
Johnny could wear a grow bag and still look gorgeous, it’s all part of his individuality, that he can look scruffy and bearded and then suddenly appear clean shaven and scrubbed up. It is the same with his films, he can play a convincing 25 year old and just as convincing older character, clean or dirty, i’ll always be a fan.
