Jennifer Lopez drops out of ‘Project Runway’ finale due to ‘foot injury’

Just as it was confirmed that Jennifer Lopez was slated to appear as a guest judge on the season finale of Bravo’s hit series “Project Runway,” the diva has backed out of the appearance, citing a foot injury.

Due to a foot injury, Jennifer Lopez stepped down from guest-judging the season five finale of Project Runway. The show — filmed Friday morning in New York’s Bryant Park — had to go on with the contestants’ fashion mentor, Tim Gunn, who took her spot. “I am really thrilled about judging,” Tim tells In Touch. But as for what happened to J. Lo, Tim says, “All I know is that I was called at the last minute this morning. No one was more surprised than I! I thought, ‘Okay, let’s make it work.’ “

Hmm. Foot injury, eh? I’ve seen photos this week of Lopez traipsing all over New York in killer stilettos with no problem for Fashion Week. However, Lopez is training for a marathon, so perhaps she pulled something while working out. Or did she?

At the opening of the Project Runway finalists’ show in Bryant Park during Fashion Week in NYC Friday morning, Heidi Klum announced that the much buzzed about appearance by Jennifer Lopez as a guest judge on the season finale will not be happening.

“Jennifer Lopez was going to be our guest judge, [but she] cancelled yesterday due to a foot injury,” Heidi told the audience.

Despite Heidi’s comments, Gunnar Petersen, Jennifer’s trainer, denies any mishap, telling OK! “No injuries, all good.”

Whatever. I am glad Lopez won’t be polluting my favorite reality show. She’s irrelevant and her fashion sense sucks. Maybe she didn’t want to play sloppy seconds to Victoria Beckham, who appeared as a guest judge on the finale last year. Regardless, Tim Gunn will be a great judge. And really - this show doesn’t need the special guest stars. It’s good enough on its own. This year’s designers are a very diverse crew- from the flamboyant Suede, who refers to himself in the third person, to 50’s pinup stylista Kenley, who has more confidence than actual talent. My personal favorite is Leanne, who is quietly becoming the best designer of the bunch. Each week she turns out amazing clothes, without all the drama and ego trips. She’s the anti-J.Lo.

  1. The “foot injury” makes it damn convenient to not have to go through with that marathon of hers.

  2. Seriously Syko…you said it.

I guess she wants to not only not have to do the damn marathon thing but get tons of sympathy in the process.

I think, as others have said, that she never intended to do the marathon in the first place.

  4. Thank goodness. Her speaking voice is so nasally, it’s like nails on a chalk board to my ears. That and she is just so damned full of herself. Shan’t be missed in the least.

Leanne is my fav as well. No fuss, no drama and consistently flawless designs each week.

    ( Don’t get me started on Suede and his 3rd person-speak. )

  5. Since when do you need use of your feet to judge a runway show? It’s not like she’s walking in it! No loss, I’m with y’all. I’m totally obsessed with PR and the only thing that tides me over between Wednesdays is the awesome http://www.projectrungay.com. They’re at Bryant Park updating throughout the day and I’m devouring the dishy commentary!

  7. That was supposed to be “FOOD injury”. :o

It wouldn’t be a reality show if they didn’t have one token delusional that referred to themself in the third person.

  8. It’s called…”time to start bowing gracefully out of events so I don’t have to run that dang marathon I thought would get me so much cred”.

    W/E worthless JLo

  9. Leanne is my favorite too! Her dress for Diane von Furstenburg dress was fabulous! <3

  10. Her career isn’t nearly dead enough for a reality show, it’s still limping along.

  11. Although it’s too bad, the judging panel desperately needs SOME kind of a change. I still like Heidi but Nina Garcia basically seems to hate everything and both she and Michael Kors are beginning to bore the hell out of me. Time for some new blood. It’s ironic how they keep urging the designers to come up with something “new” because they basically sound the same week after week.

  12. WHAT…J-lo’s cankles hurt? of course they do! it’s because they got to carry that huge head of hers around all day.

  13. Her foot hurts because she can’t get it out of her mouth. ‘Marathon’ my eye. I’ll believe it when I see the shockwaves from her bronto-thighs pounding the pavement make the CN tower sway back and forth.

  14. Think I read somewhere that this is the last season for Project Runway on Bravo.

And that Bravo is hoping the show loses some of its luster.

    If true, I’ll miss it.

  15. PR is one of my favorite shows, too, Jaybird! PR, Mad Men and The Closer. We should thank J. Lo for cutting out - now we get Tim Gunn as a judge! YEAH!!!

    *happy dance*

Leann made me favorite dress of the season - on the von Furstenberg challenge, she made that gorgeous blue/purple gown with a cute little cropped jacket. She’s quiet, but she’s got chops.

Kenley’s pissing me off though. She horrible with prints and she’s beginning to let her $hitty attitude come out. Kordo is pretty cool, maybe she’s a contender.

  16. *sigh* My only regret to my “tv-free” existence is the lack of PR episodes. I can only find two-minute blurbs online, and that isn’t nearly enough to satisfy me.

Poor Jlo. It must be so frustrating getting “injured” before a marathon that you never intended on participating in.

  17. It wasn’t just a marathon she was “training” for but a triathalon. A marathon would have been too common since others like Oprah and Katie Holmes have already done that. A triathalon got more attention. How “convenient” …uh, unfortunate this foot injury is. Timing couldn’t be better,er, uh, worse!

  18. I would have to agree with Trillion! I mean, there are celebs that still go on with what they were scheduled to do with a broken foot like Rihanna. She toe was broken and she still had her interview with Tyra Banks. J.Lo is just lame. :x
