(yes, I am aware that Jolie and Pitt have helped in New Orleans, but I'm talking about a bigger picture.) We're in the middle of an economic crisis with more people jobless and homeless and many on the verge of losing their homes. We have millions of children in orphanages. Our public education system is failing. Millions of people affected by HIV/AIDS and other illnesses here in America. Healthcare is a joke. Natural disasters like Hurricane Ike who left many without electricity, water, or even a home. I'm not bashing them or anyone, I'm just curious as to why celebrities are always so eager to help out overseas while seemingly neglecting some of the same issues at home? While it is pretty admirable and noble to see celebrities man up and help out foreign nations, why not donate some to your home country? So what if they tell everyone what they do? If I started a clinic in my child's home country I would want her to have an interest in it. They've always tried to keep their adopted kids' ethnic heritage. She should know where she comes from, and she should know about the suffering still going on everywhere in Africa because of bad... did I say bad?... I meant terribly terminally ill politics.
