Camille Grammer gets a job as a fashion commentator for CNN Oscar coverage

Camille Grammer has been hired by CNN’s Showbiz Tonight to provide red carpet coverage during the Oscars this Sunday. When Kaiser and I were e-mailing about this we wondered who Camille blew to get this gig. Then I watched the video of the big announcement and realized that Showbiz Tonight is doing this to get some sorely needed buzz for their show. I checked our archives and we’ve mentioned them four times in five years. We’ve talked more about Joy Behar’s CNN show than we have about Showbiz Tonight. So now they’re calling themselves “TV’s most provocative entertainment news show” and taking on Camille Grammer. Maybe they should try and interview some celebrities and break some news that’s actually sensational instead of using a reality show villain as a guest commentator. It doesn’t sound like this woman will be actually interviewing any celebrities. If that were the case she would probably just squint up her eyes and ask them leading passive aggressive questions, like “do you think that dress flatters your hips?” I’m not giving her enough credit, though. She knows how to turn on the charm when it counts.

Television personality Camille Donatacci Grammer will join Showbiz Tonight as a fashion and celebrity commentator live from the Oscars on Sun, Feb 27, for the Red Carpet special, Showbiz Tonight: Road to Gold. Grammer, who stars on the TV show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, will provide her insider perspective on celebrity arrivals and fashion insights.
Grammer joins Showbiz Tonight hosts AJ Hammer and Brooke Anderson for the special, live at the Kodak Theater, 7-8 p.m. ET on CNN. Showbiz Tonight: Road to Gold returns at 11 p.m. ET on HLN and will be TV’s only entertainment news show live with the latest breaking news from the Academy Awards.
“We can’t wait to get Camille’s unabashed take on Hollywood’s biggest night,” said Dave Levine, Senior Executive Producer, CNN Entertainment and Showbiz Tonight. “She will be perfect for ‘Showbiz Tonight,’ TV’s most provocative entertainment news show.”
Also joining AJ, Brooke and Camille live at the Oscars will be acclaimed and outspoken actress Sheryl Lee Ralph and syndicated radio host Carlos Diaz with their colorful insights and candid views.
Online, CNN’s Oscar coverage will provide exceptional access to the most compelling moments from the 83rd Academy Awards at www.cnn.com/showbiz. CNN.com’s Entertainment section will feature all of the evening’s nominees and winners, photo galleries of the fashion ‘dos and don’ts’, an Oscar-themed quote board, as well as all of the excitement from the red carpet streamed live from 6 to 8 p.m. ET.

Maybe a few more people might watch CNN to see Camille Grammer instead of tuning into E! or one of the main networks. That’s why she got a guest stint on Sh*t My Dad Says for the finale last week. (I tried to watch it, but they don’t put full episodes online. You can watch Camille say one line at the end of this clip.)

The worst part of the announcement is the description of Sheryl Lee Ralph and Carlos Diaz’s insights as “colorful.” Probably just a poor choice of words, but still noticeable. And Sheryl Lee Ralph also gets tagged as “outspoken.” I guess throwing in the word “acclaimed” takes the sting out of it.

Granted, Camille will be providing “unabashed” commentary, but they didn’t label it as an enduring trait of hers.

I guess I should be glad SLR wasn’t also called “sassy.”

On a final note, I am quite sure Dave Levine and company can, in fact, wait to hear Camille’s commentary. But I personally might be more anxious to hear it if she did ask people whether their dresses flattered their hips. I can absolutely hear her asking that!

  2. guesty says:

that show is beyond a snooze…but i’ll def tune it to see how she does & what she says.

  3. Marjalane says:

This may be the only smart decision CNN has made in ten years.

  4. Debra says:

    Cut her some slack.
The poor woman is humilated by Kelseys behavior. The guy is a PIG.

  5. ghostwriter says:

I’m with your original “who she blew” theory. Otherwise this really makes no sense.

  6. the original bellaluna says:

Yet another reason not to watch – the Oscars or CNN, you pick.

  7. Cherry Rose says:

I’ve tried watching Showbiz Tonight. I can only get through 5-10 minutes of it before I have to change the channel.

They do too much talking and speculating on stars to make it really breaking celebrity news.

  8. Anonymei says:

Camille is vile. I will make a specific point not to watch CNN on Sunday. I hate when bad behavior is rewarded.

  9. original kate says:

why would anyone take fashion advice from a plastic, lizard-faced hot mess like camille?

apologies to lizards the world over.

  10. Debra says:

    Are you guys kidding me?
I bet not one of you knocking her is marginally attractive..or you would not be slamming her.
Only the homely girls knock famous people online in writing.
She is not 20…she is smart enough to rake in a big *ssed settlement without a prenup from the big K.
    Plus the housewives gig.
Like I said cut her some slack.
She is pretty and she is trying to make it in this world.
I for one wish her well.

  11. Hmmm says:

I wonder if there is a rock bottom for Hollywood. Makes you wonder about the audience for these things.

  12. Cherry Rose says:

@ Debra – Look at this site: CELEBITCHY. Of course we’re going to hark on a celebrities looks and whatnot. That is what this site is for.

  13. wonderwoman21 says:

Is it fucked up that I find her face some what pleasing? I know my parents messed me up, just didn’t know it was that bad…

  14. Statler says:

Lol Debra! Alright, since you’re so obviously hungry, I will say that was pretty good for a first foray. Yes, not too shabby. I especially liked: ‘she is smart enough to rake in a big *ssed settlement without a prenup from the big K’ and ‘She is pretty and she is trying to make it in this world.’ But vitriol towards the regular posters is good too! Keep it up, don’t get discouraged by ridicule!

  15. filthycute says:

Her dented tit is making me horny.

  16. Debra says:

Honestly couldnt care less about the regular posters Statler.
I cant decide if this is high entertainment value or a sheer bordom activity. Sad but true.

  17. mimi says:

    But….she has no style.

  18. kwoww says:

love her. shes the most passive/aggressive cunt ive ever seen, and i love it! i love that her only friend is some kiss ass loser woman with no self esteem. (the brunette on TRHOBH)
