You have to factor in expenses too like what were Lindsay Lohan’s expenditures for illegal drugs, prescription drugs, alcohol, rehab, entertainment, court costs, lawyer’s fees, bad fashion, plastic surgery, etc.

People are in the dark about how the music industry works. Your label pays an advance to make an album, and just about all of that goes into the first project, not to you. Your hit can be #1 on all the airwaves but you probably won’t see a cent for a couple of years, and that’s if you actually wrote the song. If not, that writer’s making just about all the money, as they generally do. The record label takes their advance money back off the top, the producer gets paid, studio gets paid, etc., etc. Which is why nobody ever makes a ton of money off their first record. Some, not their second or third either.

When you have a hit tune, it does not automatically make you rich. Not at all.

They entertain us. We pay huge amounts of money to be entertained. I love Will Smith. I get that he may not be an intellectual giant but I think you have to be fairly brainy to be a good actor. Think about it you have to be a con man in a way. They have moves we common folk don’t see coming. That said I agree with everyone that pointed out how expensive it is to stay afloat in that industry. They are commodities and they are used as such. You have to be pretty sharp to keep the money you make. Lindsay was used by her parents and the industry. Now she is used up and old at 22. My god. I am so glad I’m not famous. It seems like a lot of work.

And the fact that I’m practically raising other people’s children for 9.15 an hour makes me sick. These celebrities do nothing while I”m teaching what could be our future president that sticking boogers in the other kids lunch isn’t a nice thing to do….

but even the money these people make isnt entirely theirs. before they can spend anything, 10-15% goes to the agent, 10% to the manager, then theres studio taxation………its still a crap load of cash but it dwindles quickly. these celebrities go to spas and get $1200 diamond ream facials twice a week and then hit up chateau marmont where a soda costs $8 and a shot of patron goes for $16 at the bar. add 10 alcoholic friends to that……..
