These are photos of Katie Holmes and her mom in Milan, at the Max Mara runway show on Thursday. I like her mom already – she looks animated and pleasant. Katie, on the other hand… goodness. Katie is wearing a brown, one-shoulder jumper/jumpsuit/thing from Max Mara. Should I start with something nice? The color is nice on her. And the fabric choice is rich-looking, especially when you consider that Katie tends to make expensive clothes look cheap. I will also say that even though Katie still looks drained, out-of-it and robotic, she is much more animated here with her mother than she ever is with Tom. Also: I love her manicure, and I love her bag. I want that bag, and Katie rarely has anything that I want. Now, for the bad stuff. This jumpsuit is made for someone really tall, really thin, with crazy long legs. Katie simply doesn’t look right in it. But she tries. Bless her heart, she tries.
You know what I think the problem is for Katie and this jumpsuit? It should have been a dress. Imagine that same one-shoulder top, in that color, with that fabric, only it’s knee-length or ankle-length dress. It would look so good on her.

Actually Katie is tall (5’9″) and thin and has long legs. I want that purse too. I spent last weekend hunting down a similar purse that won’t cost thousands ad thousands of dollars and have yet to find it.
Katie is too tall and straight to pull this off. It is a nice jumper but if she was a little more cury and shorter it would look adorable.
I refuse to critque fashion in front of someone’s mother. They both look very nice.
I would love to know why Katie always looks so tired. Maybe it’s the countless hours she spends getting her wardrobe approved by Suri. Constantly changing outfits while the littlest Cruise shakes her head and stomps her kitten heels in disapproval must be exhausting.
Doesn’t she have more jewelry than that? And better shoes? Like the bag though. I think her lobotomy scar is at the corner of her mouth. she is always drawing it up.

Katie is tall and slim, but her legs are big, sorry to say, like her mother’s. I think that’s the reason her lower half looks the way it does.
I don’t think the jumpsuit is unflattering on her, I just think it’s kind of ugly. But I mean, she is tall and thin and looks tall and thin in it. Her legs can sometimes look thick (compared to the rest of her) and this hides that. In general though she weirds me out. I think she looks nice in the Ann Taylor print ad where she’s wearing a navy suit.

I love how snugged up to her mom she is. And yes, she looks peaceful and has a light in her eyes here. I have come to the conclusion that there must be some medical reason why she can’t move one side of her face very well. She’s been made fun of it enough, that if she could change it, she no doubt would. I’m going to lay off her for it.
I like her hair and I don’t think anyone looks good in a jumpsuit. I remember when they were in style in the very early 90’s and I had a few. God I wish I could go back and erase all the hideous clothes I wore.

I know that she doesn’t have Bell’s Palsy or anything like that so I’m not sure that the 1/2 smile is anything medical. It irks the hell out of me, but she has been doing it for literally years & I’m sure its just force of habit by now.
I think that it as a dress would be lovely! The fabric has a wonderful drape to it. I would LOVE a close up of her rings, they are so sparkly!! (I have ADOS: attention deficit… OOO shiny!!)

@TG (31) – Ugh, I used to have fitted ‘denim’ jumpsuit back in the 90’s. (Granted I was a teenager, so I guess I had an excuse for stupidity.)
Eh, just don’t care for this look, period. I don’t think I’d like it on anyone else either. Her body size/height are great, it’s just too billowy/wide, she gets lost in it.
It’s her expression that I find repulsive- there’s no one at home. Empty, vacuous, narcissistic are the words that come to mind.

I think she’s been completely brainwashed, she has very little acting talent, and she looked better before she had her nose job and Suri’s styling.
But the one thing she shouldn’t be criticized for is the twitch in her mouth. It’s obvious that it’s some type of nerve damage (from birth? genes?), because her eye also droops a little on the same side of her face that her mouth rises. That’s not voluntary.
Also, people on this site seem very hypocritical to me – they criticize Holmes for having this involuntary trait, yet other actresses (for example, Emma Watson) who have the same facial condition (and same lack of acting talent) are given a pass.
Nerve damage? There are other pictures of her (pre Tom) where she isn’t showing this odd ball smirk so I’m not buying it!

As a mom of a daughter about the same age, all I can think about is how I would feel if I were Katie’s mom – which is NUTS. Obviously she is loving being with her girl. How often is she allowed to see her? Are the Scientology minders there the whole time? You can’t talk sense to people who are brainwashed… it must be awfully painful to see the horrible mess Katie has made of her life.
Katie never had one reason why she got together with Tom, other that he was “amazing.” It seems like she did it for fame and greed, thinking she would become a big Star. She would have done better on her own – and kept her brain.
I work where Katie’s grandmother lives and her mom is a very nice lady. She’s there all the time visiting her mom and always says hello and asks you how you are. The Holmes’ are a very nice family.
The white haired granny look fits well with the idea of being out of touch with what is going on with Katie and the new-age cult. It almost looks like cartoon little birds should being flying around them, gently chirping.
Her smirk says, ‘I’m better than you’ and ‘I’m bearly tolerating this sh*t’, simultaneously. How does she do it?

what irritates me about her is the constant marketing crap and spin that she’s some kind of fashion expert/beauty and I just don’t see it. She’s tall, she’s attractive, but not more so than most other actresses or models out there. Her clothing choices/styles generally always seem like the behaviour of someone promoted beyond their capability. because that pantsuit? you’ve got to be kidding me.
Personally, I do wonder about the facial thing (one side appearing oddly uneven).
I’m not saying it absolutely *has* to have a medical cause, but it does at least *appear* involuntary. (Which I why I steer away from criticizing it.)
The only thing about her face I *can* criticize is how ‘sad’ I think she looks behind her odd expressions. I always feel sad looking at her, thinking about how ‘lost’ she always appears.
