Charlie Sheen is officially fired from ‘Two & a Half Men’

charlie22

Ugh, I’m sorry if I’m getting to this a bit late in the day. Sincerely, I apologize. You would not believe the afternoon/early evening I’ve had. It involves my mother, who I love very much but who, at times, DRIVES ME TO DRINK with her theatrics. I mean, I get it. She’s sick. She has a fever. But I’m not a medical professional, and at the end of the day, there’s a reason I didn’t go to medical school – because I LOATHE sick people. That, and my true calling is “dong specialist/professional gossip”. So, let’s begin.

I kind of thought this junk had already happened, but I was wrong. A few weeks ago, CBS/Warner Brothers “suspended” Charlie Sheen and the show Two & a Half Men, but Charlie wasn’t out-right fired. Now he is, though.

Charlie Sheen just got his pink slip.

“After careful consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen’s services on Two and a Half Men effective immediately,” Warner Bros. says in a statement.

His firing places the future of the hit CBS sitcom in doubt. The network declined to comment, but one source close to the show says, “no decision has been made” about whether to continue with a new lead or to cancel it all together.

Sheen reacted by calling his firing “very good news” and ripping his boss, series co-creator Chuck Lorre, with a colorful expletive.

“They continue to be in breach, like so many whales,” the actor says in a statement. “It is a big day of gladness at the Sober Valley Lodge because now I can take all of the bazillions, never have to look at [expletive] again and I never have to put on those silly shirts for as long as this warlock exists in the terrestrial dimension.”

Two and a Half Men, which costars Jon Cryer, went on hiatus after Sheen, 45, started lambasting Lorre in a string of bizarre interviews.

The actor also faces a restraining order obtained by his estranged wife and had his twin boys were taken away by police and placed in the custody of their mother, Brooke Mueller.

[From People]

On one side, this seems like a dumb business decision, because Warner Brothers is opening themselves up to a lawsuit. On the other side, Warner Brothers’ executives probably think Charlie Sheen is going to kill himself before any serious legal action goes down, so that probably factored into their consideration.

So, whatever. Charlie is collecting unemployment now, I guess. Too little, too late.

UPDATE: Charlie’s response: “This is very good news. They continue to be in breach, like so many whales. It is a big day of gladness at the Sober Valley Lodge because now I can take all of their bazillions, never have to look at whatshiscock again and I never have to put on those silly shirts for as long as this warlock exists in the terrestrial dimension.” Yeah. Sounds about right.

He’s a total a-hole. I want him to just go away.

  2. Rita says:

Humpty Dumpty was king of the hill
Humpty Dumpty took a terrible spill
Humpty Dumpty fell into the pit
Humpty Dumpty threw one hell of a fit.

The “Winning” proved but a lot of hot air.
Poor little man, felt it all so unfair.
To the ends of the earth did the man state his case
Even pissed in a cup to prove not a trace.

A year has come and gone since that terrible fall
Not porn star nor studio returned his last call.
He’d turn back the clock if only he could
Alone with his movies, he chops his own wood.

  3. mln76 says:

Did anyone hear what John Stamos had to say

“Contrary to the rumors, I am not replacing charlie sheen on two and half men. However, Martin Sheen has asked me to be his son.”

    too funny.

Kaiser I hope your mom gets better. Mother/Daughter relations are always difficult.

  4. eja102 says:

I want take back my response to not reporting on CS. 🙂

just, wow! I really did not think he’d be fired.
    my jaw dropped.

Call me naive, but I thought they’d work it out and the show would continue.

  5. JO says:

Ditto ….Lets play a game peeps… who do you pick for his replacement!! I say… Will from Will and Grace… very tounge in cheek.

  6. nicca says:

He is going to blow a gasket when he realizes is 15 minutes of tiger blood is up. I hope those prosties can run fast because someone is going to get hurt. TMZ is running a ‘whose side are you on’ and Chuck seems to be WINNING with 72%.

  7. lola says:

    Glad He’s Fired!

  8. gg says:

    Team Stamos.

  9. Hautie says:

    Well it is LA.

CBS could change their minds too.

I am looking at this as CBS calling his bluff.

So if Charlie suddenly enters rehab, I would not be surprise CBS suddenly having a heart to heart talk with him.

And Charlie having his job back.

I just find it hard to believe that CBS really wants him gone. As much as they want him sober.

Plus the value of the show just plunged. And that really hurts their ability to sell that all important and valuable commercial time.

  10. kc says:

Anyone from the Brat Pack days could replace him. (Judd Nelson was a cutie)

For once, it seems what needed to be done, has been done. Maybe it’ll start a new craze in LA. Doubt it though.

  11. Marjalane says:

This might open Warner Bros. up to a lawsuit, but I have to believe that their attornies researched this to the enth degree before dropping the hammer. I, for one, am celebrating with a nice normal, no tiger blood included, glass of sauv.blanc. Suck it Winner-Boy!

  12. KarenC22 says:

LOVED your “Humpty Dumpty” ditty, Rita!

  13. mln76 says:

I think in this case gone is gone. I don’t think they have ever been concerned about Charlie, the drug use or the wife beating. But when he pissed off the head of CBS and the writers he bruised their egos he sealed his fate. They would rather take a gander at a 9th season and drum up interest for the replacement.
CBS and company aren’t heroes in this at all they are in some ways worse than Charlie Sheen because they used his a-hole persona to eek as much publicity as possible for that crappy sitcom.

  14. brin says:

    Losing!

  15. GradStudentEatingHotPockets says:

Does CBS have bazillions of dollars?
And will Charlie Sheen continue to be winning after this? I think this is the most important thing…that he continues to win. Duh.

  16. KateNonymous says:

@kc (#10): He was, but that time has long passed. Take a look at Judd Nelson now, and you might not see what you remember. That said, a glance at IMDB yesterday showed me that he works A LOT.

As for Charlie Sheen, I’ve really heard more than enough about him. He’s clearly a sad little man.

  17. Ron says:

It’s about time. A*shole. If I was involved in this show cast or crew, I would hate CS guts. This will be an easy legal win for WB too i think, most contracts with WB have a “morals” clause. CS has broken this repeatedly.

  18. inessa says:

“Whatshiscock” is now my favourite expression ever

  19. kc says:

@KateNonymous–I just did, take that look. I wish I hadn’t. My memories shall weep now.

  20. Rita says:

    @brin

    Love your way with word!!!!

    @kaiser

    Forgot to say…Great Art!!!!

  21. PrettyTarheel says:

    Kaiser,
Southern Moms of a Certain Age believe it’s their perogative to be drama queens about everything-health, husbands, and how you are gestating their grandbabies included! You have my sympathy!

I think they will recast a lead. BG has a “blind” to guess the potentials, and Jerry O’Connell and a few others seem to be the top runners.
Stamos’s comment makes me like him more…

  22. Bunny says:

stamos, rob lowe, david arquette, could fill his place. Have Charlie get a job on the east coast, so he can lease his house to Alan, Alan in turn takes in a wild Actor to make rent and his catchphrase can be “Winning”.

  23. Venus says:

I don’t see a lawsuit. I mean Mr. Duh McWinning can scream “breach of contract” all he wants, but WB/Lorre can easily make a case that he violated the morals clause in his contract & therefore they were within their rights to terminate him. From the way Sheen’s been raving this last week, I’m positive that any jury or judge in the world will side with WB/Lorre in this.

  24. Kaiser says:

Min & Pretty Tarheel – It’s not like I haven’t already done my good-daughter due diligence. I spent a lot of time tending to her over the weekend. But she has THE FLU, for God’s sake. I’m still getting guilt-trip phone calls.

  25. Cheyenne says:

    What took them so long?

  26. Bunny says:

Look at his rantings, I am sure the other actors do not want to work with him. They have fired actors from hit shows for less. Look at CSI las vegas they fired 2 actors as well as One Tree Hill etc.

  27. Confuzzled says:

This gives him more time to beat up more women.

  28. someone says:

What did he think was going to happen, no one can stand those rants for very long…mental rehab????

  29. Kiska says:

@ Rita. I always look forward to your witty comments.

@ Kaiser. I plan to give my Mom a hug today. She NEVER asks anything of me. I hope all goes well for you. Don’t let the guilt get you.

  30. karen says:

I have never left a comment about a celeb before since I have worked for too many of them in the BIZ. Many are crazy but sooo are the producers & directors. What’s new!!! I know Charlie is a bit crazy…so what!! I only watched Two and 1/2 Men because of him. Its entertainment.

Have any of you read the Vanity cards from Chuck Lorre??? Talk about a whacko!!! He is just as crazy if not crazier than Charlie. Many of his vanity cards have even been censored due to their crude content but he still has a job. Some of his cards even appear to be taunting an actor who is already on the edge. You call that support… give me a break!!
I have less respect for him than I do for Charlie.

Hey CBS I will never watch another Chuck Lorre show.

  31. lucy2 says:

    It’s about time!
I’m sure he’ll try to sue and some greedy lawyer will look at his deep pockets and go nuts, but honestly, what judge or jury would look at his behavior and not feel that CBS/WB is justified in canning him?

I think the crazy warlock talk was at first routed in his cracked out mind, but now I think he’s playing it up for more attention. Pathetic. And it’s hilariously sad that he thinks he’s has all these fans now, but it’s really just people wanting to watch the train wreck.

For the sake of everyone who works there, I hope they recast and the show continues. And I’d love it to do well, just to spite Charlie.

  32. rheba says:

Isn’t it time for conservertorship discussion? cuz this guy is f^%#^ nutz !

  33. KJ says:

    @ mln76-That was great!! LOL!!

  34. Tiffany says:

@ Ron, I think that he had in his contract to do away with the morals clause and stay out of his personal life. That is why a lot of the crap that he pulled fell by the waist side. But I agree with alot of people, it was not the legal issues but when the producer and Sheen decided to whip them out and measure that he became a issue. This show is a massive hit and whether you want to admit it or not he was part of the dynamic. Ratings are up, too much money, he will be back, the show will be back and then they are going to shoot themselves in foot because they are playing their audience for fools and will lose them in droves.

  35. logan says:

Now if only Lindsay Lohan did something to get fired from wouldn’t it be almost a perfect day??!!

  36. Faye says:

I’m loving his ridiculous comments but then again I totally think he’s woman-beating, drug-abusing scum. So I just hope that he stops abusing, finds a way to get things straight and keeps on “winning” in a constructive way before someone dies.

  37. KatScorp says:

@Rita: Your poetry is always made of WIN! Love it 🙂

@Jo5: God, if they hire the actor who played Will in ‘Will & Grace’ I would actually start watching ‘2&HalfMen’; that guy was my favourite part of ‘W&G’ – handsome, funny and a really good tramedy actor. It’s saddening to me that he hasn’t had a successful career since ‘W&G’ folded.

Sadly, I’d expect David Arquette to be the frontrunner if CBS decided to continue this show. David’s had ample publicity lately from his divorce and alcohol-fuelled public ranting. To top it off, he seems like a good guy struggling to redeem himself; great publicity and nice-guy persona may equal easy acceptance of the recasting of this role.

Still, I’d sooooo much prefer Eric. He’s still cute and I got butterflies when I saw him on Law and Order.

BTW Kaiser: sorry about the guilt trip. Mother’s can really suck the life outta you, I know. Pretend that she’s given YOU the flu now so you can’t go and play nursemaid anymore.

  38. ctkat1 says:

TMZ has a copy of the letter that Warner Brothers sent to Charlie Sheen’s lawyer. It divulges some interesting information, most importantly that there is a morality clause in the contract. Based on what I read, and the sections of the contract that were cited, it seems like Warner Bros is going after Sheen for loss of revenue. They claim to have footage that shows that Sheen was unable to deliver lines and couldn’t hit his mark unless they put something there for him to lean on for balance. Basically, I think he’s going to lose this one.
It has to go to arbitration, no trial.

  39. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

Vengence is mine sayeth the Lord!!

    YES about time!!

  40. Melissa says:

LMAO that Charlie thinks that whales can be breached rather than beached!

  41. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@kaiser, I feel your pain! My mother has a martyr complex. She spends her life “doing things for everyone else” and running herself “ragged.” She claims this is why she is always sick and/or injuring herself. I’m 36 weeks pregnant and cart my toddler over to her house to wait on her b/c she has bursitis of the shoulder (which she kept telling me might be bone cancer before she had an orthopedist look at it)

    @Rita, brilliant love!

  42. Eve says:

I think there’s a huge chance of him winning a lawsuit (for breach of contract) agaisnt CBS and the show’s producers. Sarah (from Laineygossip) has an interesting take on the situation:

    http://www.laineygossip.com/Charlie_Sheen_Tornado_of_Awesome_Written_by_Sarah_03mar11.aspx

  43. Boxy Lady says:

If this is really about a morals clause, why didn’t they fire him after the Plaza Hotel incident? Or after he was said to put a knife to his wife’s throat? He could have been gone from the show long ago. Instead the creator of the show stated rather recently that if Charlie outlived him, then he’d be pissed off. At first Charlie laughed it off but then he went haywire and started speaking out. This may be a case of everyone being irritated with each other for a long time and finally now all the gaskets have blown, but for CBS to hide behind this morals clause is laughable to me because the timing seems rather suspect.

  44. lucy2 says:

Interesting ctkat…I was wondering if they were going to countersue. I’d imagine they have a pretty good case, especially if the show is done for good.

  45. AN says:

On Twitter, IJasonAlexander volunteered to take Charlie’s place.

Kaiser, you’re excused THIS time for making the story all about you. But next time, let’s try not starting with “I”, shall we?

  46. Aspie says:

About time that selfish loser got fired

  47. anonymous says:

This show has been on for over 8 years thats unheard of in this day in age for a sit com, he made a TON of money for the network, he made A TON of money for Warner Bros. He made a ton of money for the crew on a stable 8-9 year basis, along with all the other co-stars who got a steady pay check and he himself made a ton..why, because he did his work, showed up to work everyday, did a good job and thats about it. This all stemmed from the Aspen incident last Christmas when he was on hiatus when his wife who turns out is an addict tries to renege the story and tries to drop charges but its too late.then again on summer hiatus he loses it in NYC when he loses a 100k watch and tears up a hotel room, again last month hes on hiatus parties too much as his divorce is finalized, pics get out and thats that. As one writer said, he NEEDS to work because when hes on hiatus and has time on his hands is when hes gotten into trouble. Just sad for all his kids all the other stuff just seems like children on the playground taking shots at eachother, the children being sheen and lorre. He was going through some personal stuff and lorre and CBS should’ve stood by him. Just looking at it from the business side, its unfortunate its become such a Huge drama/story they should’ve just let him finish off the season like he wanted and contracted to do, everyone would’ve gotten paid and then during the end of season hiatus they could’ve helped get him the rehab or help that he needed. Just sick of the story, they shouldve just let him finish off his contract he was doing his job at the end of the day.

  48. lacy says:

#39 Whales actually do breach (come out of the water) not just beach themselves to die.

Charlie is obviously heading into the abyss. May he survive or not, based on his will to live a better life.

  49. Liana says:

They claim to have footage that shows that Sheen was unable to deliver lines and couldn’t hit his mark unless they put something there for him to lean on for balance.
    ************

I said this quite awhile ago. I worked on the set and he wasn’t this “professional” that he (and for awhile CBS) claimed he was. Tapings were delayed, he was a no show or late for rehearsals, lines were consistently flubbed, and he cost production a ton of money. But they were willing to work with him and cover for him as long as he didn’t bite the hand that feeds him.

and Melissa – whales breach. That’s when they lift their bodies out of the water.

and I just realized that half of what Charlie Sheen says sounds like it was generated by autocorrect.

  50. original kate says:

i give it 6 weeks before he makes a porno called “tiger balls of fury,” or “2 1/2 schlongs” (starring charlie, some other dude and a midget) or something similar.

  51. Flipper says:

There are probably half a dozen clauses in his contract that Charlie has breached, I noticed this has come right after his little self made on line show.

Most TV contracts have a clause which prohibits the actor from appearing in other productions without the studio’s consent. His most recent grand standing has probably just given Warners the final legal nail for his coffin.

  52. Kat says:

This is my shocked face. So much for #winning and #tigerblood

  53. Hmmm says:

I hope you got through the mother thing and are channelling peace now; I surely can relate.

I saw the poster and didn’t even want to read anything else! It’s just fabulous.

No way the mad hatter is going to win this one. CBS et al got all their legal ducks in a row before they fired the sucker.

  54. the original bellaluna says:

@ Kaiser – I’ve lived about 15 miles from my Mom for years. We’re moving to Northern CA in about 5 days, and I’m devastated. I always thought (in my little PollyAnna mind) that my Mom would be thatclose, and I just don’t know how to survive without her thatclose. I’ve always taken for granted she’d be right there.

I hope both you and your Mom feel better! 😀

  55. the original bellaluna says:

Thank you, CBS, for finally grabbing a Reality Taquito off the Appetiser-Platter of Crazy and dipping it into the Truth Salsa we’ve all been eating for the last year-and-a-half. Nice of you to finally catch up. Slow golf clap for the CBS execs – don’t want to scare ’em!

(It’s beyond time for CS to be fired. DUH – WINNING!)

  56. Venus says:

@BoxyLady — yeah, for CBS to hide behind the morals clause NOW considering all the covering up & excuses they’ve done for Mr. Duh Winning is hypocritical, but that is irrelevant. They have plenty from him after he went into “rehab” (ha!) to fire him without being found in breach of his contract (ie, to show that HE violated his contract first, not them & gave them legal reason to terminate him). Of course the real reason, as Liana & other posters have pointed out time & again, is Charlie’s biting the hand that feeds him (ie, going after Chuck Lorre) and not his drinking, drugs & abuse of women (CBS & Lorre were A-OK with that & would have continued to be A-OK with that if he hadn’t focused his anger at them), but that doesn’t matter. They have sound reasons (pretext or not) for legally firing him & that is all they need.

  57. khaveman says:

Time for crazycock to go do some drugs and hit some more prostitutes. He’s a bizarre, troubled man. Good luck trying to get ANY work now, Charlie. You’ve gone the way of Lohan.

  58. Feebee says:

“after careful consideration” = “we’ve looked at our legal options and we’re good!”

People get fired everyday for far less than Charlie Sheen’s litany of reasons. He barely has a case. CBS on the other hand is looking okay should they decide to lay it all out.

I can hardly believe how screwed Charlie is – mentally, physically, publicly, privately…. everything.

  59. Meanchick says:

I’m so not surprised. Since when has anyone ever been able to rip their boss publicly and keep their job?

  60. Tabby says:

I want Michael J. Fox to replace him 😉

What I’m really sick of right now is how much people seem to be championing this a-hole. I know some of it is car crash theory, but you know if Chazza was a lady there wouldn’t be as much holding back. Are we really just waiting for him to shave his head and don the “pink wig of mental illness”?

  61. Serena says:

Sorry I’m not in the business so..what’s a vanity card?

  62. Isa says:

    @ #55:

I had to look it up myself too.

    From Chuck Lorre’s Wikipedia page:

“At the end of every episode of Dharma & Greg, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory and Mike & Molly, Lorre features a vanity card consisting of a message that usually reads like an editorial, essay, or observation on life.”

  63. saintdevil says:

I hope he’ll OD soon and spare his children some therapy-sessions.

I can’t believe how people still love this pig. Beating up women is inexcusable.
And if you choose drugging and whoring as a lifestyle, that’s ok with me – but keep your kids out of it. Or better: Don’t procreate at all.

  64. Arrow says:

    C’mon, Give Carlos Esteves a break…don’t kick’em while he’s down!

  65. OriginalGracie says:

@original bellaluna: Hahahaha, what you wrote was great and awesome! Loved the words you chose.

I know Charlie is mentally ill. But goddammit, when he is beating up women and being alone in the house with small defenseless children: Then his father and mother can’t just look the other way! Martin tells us to “pray for Charlie”. OMG, talk about enabling him for his whole entire life and basically letting him run wild.

Because of his cute comments, I now love John Stamos FOR LIFE.

  66. TheProcastinator says:

Rock on Stamos! Sheen is pure trash. He never had any talent anyway and can’t act his way out of a paper bag. Being hired because you are Martin Sheen’s son doesn’t mean you have talent. And no actor is indispensible. Stamos should not just replace CS as Martin’s son, but do TAAHM. He would be so much better than CS. And Stamos is still not.

  67. StarJO says:

is that quote FOR REAL???? omg, the man has gone insane, he is soooo out of it right now… hope he comes back to this planet one day

  68. Tess says:

A couple of less often mentioned additions to his catalog of lunacy:

    1) Denise Richardson claimed that he was a regular visitor to kiddie porn websites…which he never denied as the claim was easily provable.

    2) He was a big supporter of 9/1/1 conspiracy theories about the US government being behind the takedown the of the Twin Trade Towers.

  69. Crash2GO2 says:

“Martin tells us to “pray for Charlie”. OMG, talk about enabling him for his whole entire life and basically letting him run wild.”

What else do you suggest Martin do? He’s already had him arrested. It didn’t work. I very much doubt he has much to do with Charlie anymore. There comes a point when you have to give the addict up to the fates because no matter how much you love them, YOU cannot save them. They can only save themselves.

    @Rita: Brilliant!!!!

  70. Wiggles says:

LOL love the pic, although he should have rainbows coming out of his ass, and vomit coming out of his mouth.

  71. anoneemouse says:

I totally agree Crash2Go2 – very little that his parents can do at this point. He was a lost cause from the beginning.

  72. Fuzzy Cat says:

Rita your poem is awesome 🙂 and Kaiser I have been watching this series on you tube that might help you with your family situation – this lady is really good.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0ByxQRt-ro&feature=related

  73. OriginalGracie says:

@Crash2GO2: I agree with you that he is a lost cause at this point and there is little his parents can do short of a 5150 hold.

I was more referring to the many years previously that Charlie has run rampant with no consequences. Britney is mentally ill too and her parents stepped in with a conservatorship and have at least gotten her back on the right track.

If Charlie was just a drug addict, I would agree that it’s best to let him hit bottom. But he is bipolar and that requires a different kind of attention and a far different solution, IMO.

But I do see exactly what you were saying :).

  74. Jo Green says:

@Lacy, Interesting to know that whales can be breached and beached! As for Charlie Sheen, that’s one beached career!

  75. anonymous says:

As Whoopi said on the View today, everyone flubs their lines and does re-takes sometimes and is late once in a while and now the execs are just using it and pulling out all the cards they can thats about it and thats not breach. He freaked and lashed out when chuck put out the vanity cards without ever personally calling him to talk.
Celebs have a great life but ALL their business is out there and when s*&^ hits the fan they’re screwed and its easy to villianize them where their image is all they have that makes them money at the end of the day.

  76. TXCinderella says:

Bout damn time they fired his stupid arse.

  77. Jilly says:

I bet Warner Bros took a huge life insurance policy out on him years ago, knowing his addiction. They will probably make a cook million when this bloke kicks his heels up!

  78. Chris says:

Charlie Sheen is officially fried from the drugs he bought with the money he made from Two and Half Men.

  79. Tia C says:

Stick a fork in it! This show has had a great run. I think they should just cancel it at this point. It’s not going to work without Charlie – he is the star. I’m not defending him, don’t get me wrong, but I mean, the show revolves around his character and it takes place in his house. Can’t really do it without him. And replacing him would be a mistake. That never works.

On a side note, I hope Charlie gets some intensive mental health treatment SOON. He’s obviously come completely unwound and needs help. I’ve been enjoying his delusional rantings as much as the next person, but it’s just sad at this point.

  80. danmon says:

he’s so brilliant. i used to think he was just a one dimensional actor, now i see hes an artist. its wonderful.
