Kate Middleton wears Burberry, flips pancakes during visit to Belfast

So many new photos! So many new public appearances! It’s ALL WAITY, ALL THE TIME over here. Kate Middleton and Prince William made a “surprise” visit to Belfast this morning, all for a fundraising effort for The Northern Ireland Cancer Fund. They also did a little tour of Belfast, and when the locals heard they were in town, they came out in droves to see Our Little Waity and her Burberry oatmeal-colored coat. According to Radar, “Security was high in the historically-volatile region for the unannounced visit, as armed officers were spotted patrolling the streets and rooftops, but everything went off without a hitch.” They even flipped pancakes with some locals:

I have to say it, don’t I? I’m just going to say it – Kate is going to overshadow William. It is inevitable, and the Palace can try to control Waity’s rollout and they can “ease” her into public life as gently and slowly as possible, but the fact of the matter is that most people are coming out to see Kate. It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out over the years.

Last thing: I’m already tired of Waity’s black hosiery. She needs to mix it up, especially for daywear.

  1. Melanie says:

    That is the cutest trench evah! Lucky princess Kate.

  2. Isabel says:

    Coat is cute. I’m resigning myself to having some sort of mild opinion about her, since she will apparently be in our faces forever.

  3. Leticia says:

    Best looking trench coat I’ve ever seen! And I love her cute figure.

  4. malachais says:

    I love the coat, you know she is going to be submissive and deter any attention on her towards William.

  5. bagladey says:

    OMG love that coat. I always wish that I had enough money to buy, wear and change outerwear with the same frequency that I do with regular clothes.

  6. im awful says:

    oh i wish i could afford a burberry coat. theyre so damn pretty.

  7. Ell says:

    Today was the first time I saw her true royal x factor. I loved the pancake tossing and William and her are very at ease the the children. I have a feeling they won’t wait long before starting a family.

  8. Jackson says:

    Please, can someone help her with her hair and with that unfortunate eyeliner situation? Her hair needs to be a bit shorter with a few layers. More polished. And those long, frumpy curls are so dated they’ve already come and gone, twice. And FFS if you must wear that eyeliner at least turn your little pencil over and find the soft end and smudge your liner.

    I do really like that coat, however. What’s that thing cost????

  9. L says:

    My god the coat. LOVE it.

  10. Rita says:

    Of course she’ll over shadow him. The king is for pomp and circumstance while the queen is for fashion and photogs. Been like that since Henry VIII. That’s when the haute couture religious fashion wars began with the papacy.

  11. Stubbylove says:

    Coat is fantastic – they really are a great couple…it is unfortunate how Will’s head is balding – just the worst kind – what a shame.

  12. georgia says:

    I love her!!! I’m so excited she’ll one day be our queen. She’s exactly what the monarchy needed.

  13. eternalcanadian says:

    You know, Kaiser, at first it was cute you called Catherine Middleton “Waity” but now you are way overboard and continuing to call Cathering “Our Little Waity” is so not funny. It isn’t even “bitchy.” At all.

    As for Cathering overshadowing William, I think William is thrilled about that. He has never liked being in the spotlight. Remember all those times he let loose he didn’t want to do this or that when it came ot “royal stuff.” That’s one of the good things about marrying Catherine. She can go and do “the royal stuff” and the spotlight is off William which means he can go and do what he wants, which is to continue his military career.

  14. texasmom says:

    I don’t think she will overshadow him, I think she sort of enhances him. Her cuteness is their cuteness.

    Now, her WITH A BABY will totally outshine Wills! Just a matter of a year or so. . .

  15. kathug says:

    she’s lost soooo much weight!

  16. P.J. says:

    I am surprised at how quickly the Palace is putting Kate to work. She’s not even married yet!

    Kaiser, you’re right, William has got to adjust to the attention Kate’s getting. Hopefully he’s mature enough to share the spotlight and be happy that people love her as he does. Also these public events will probably be more enjoyable for him when she’s there with him.

  17. im awful says:

    if you all love the coat, please do like me and drool over some even prettier ones on this site:

    http://uk.burberry.com/store/coats/womenswear/view-all/

  18. P.J. says:

    Found the coat on the Burberry UK site. It costs 650 pounds, comes in nude and grey.

  19. Abby says:

    I like Kate more than William already, and i’ve loved him forever! I guess I just love them both now. I’d rather see her outfits and such anyway. Who cares what suit he has on?

  20. RHONYC says:

    Last thing: I’m already tired of Waity’s black hosiery.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    you said it, sister! 😉
  21. Jackson says:
    “”You know, Kaiser, at first it was cute you called Catherine Middleton “Waity” but now you are way overboard and continuing to call Cathering “Our Little Waity” is so not funny. It isn’t even “bitchy.” At all.””
    @eternalcanadian – did you mean to call her ‘Cathering’…as in, she finally got the ring? I don’t think so, but it’s still brilliant.
  22. TaylorB says:
    Those two are going to have some seriously attractive children someday.
    And… I want that coat!
  23. Jackson says:
    @P.J. – do you have a link for the price? I could only find the one somewhat similar on the BB site for around $4k. That one is all studded, though.
  24. heb says:
    She needs to put something under that black hoisery–as in an inch or two of insulation on her bones.
  25. irena NL says:
    Looks like she as added a few pounds. I find her very appealing and wish them both luck and longevity.
  26. Amy says:
    I would think William would want the attention off him. These little outings–christening a lifeboat, flipping pancakes–are meant to prepare Kate for the bigger stuff. Whatever that may be–inaugurating hospitals and museums? Going to benefits? So while she is acting as the couple’s “face” he can continue to fly helicopters and do his military stuff. They’re doing these small things together so Kate is ready for the bigger stuff after they get married. I really don’t think William is going to be worried about being “overshadowed.” If anything, he probably is more worried about all the attention Kate will be getting from the paparazzi.
  27. Happymom says:
    I think it’s fascinating that they’ve been living together for years-still are-and nothing is mentioned about that-it’s like the royal family is moving into the 21st century. And I think they’re adorable together. I think they’ve been together for so long, William is not going to care about being “overshadowed” by Kate-I think he’s happy she’s being so well received and that she seems to be enjoying herself.
  28. Tiffany says:
    I have always seen a bit of Diana in William. Now, he is his father’s son. Man the resemblence and the hairline as he has gotten older. I don’t think Will cares about the attention because he will not see the thrown for a long time or the monarchy might go away, hahahaha, who am I kidding they are not going anywhere.
  29. francesca says:
    I am tired of the “Waity” talk, too. I think she looks so happy and like she finally got what she wanted. Sure, it might not last and it might all go spectacularly to pieces, but for now I am happy for her. Her dream came true.
  30. almond says:
    Those legs, they’d look so much better with a few extra inches of meat on them.
  31. Rachel says:
    For the record Kaiser, I think those hose are navy.
  32. Tiffany says:
    Burberry is everywhere in London. OMG, the coats!!! The whole new line with the leather and studs. Really gorgeous stuff, I miss the shopping in London, even if I could only look and not buy when it comes to Burberry prices.
  33. Anastasia says:
    Waity is about worn out as a nickname, seriously. Gotta agree with the others. So what if she waited? Maybe that’s how HE knew she’d be devoted enough for such a huge role? He wouldn’t want to marry someone flighty, who is going to vaccilate all the time as to what she wants and how she feels about being a public figure. Shrug. I’m just saying that could be how HE sees it.
    When I met my husband, he was active duty in the Army and there were several long deployments before we could properly be together, including the Gulf War. He was wounded fairly badly (recovered well eventually) and was at Walter Reed and I couldn’t afford to travel there to see him (we were engaged then). I was in college. Hell, even after we married, we couldn’t live together right at first because I finished my degree in one state while he set up house for us in another. 18 months after the wedding and three years after we met, we could finally be together. I waited. My husband told me years later that’s one of the reasons he knew I was right for him–I loved him enough to hang in there through thick and thin even before we were married.
    It seems like we’ve already placed all these expectations and assumptions on this woman and we hardly know much about her yet. Why not give the benefit of the doubt until we know more about her or see how things play out?
    Surely in this day and age and with Diana’s story, she’s well aware of what she’s getting into? And she’s not some 19 year old like Diana was.
  34. Anastasia says:
    And after having watched that video of her greeting people, she seems very sweet and warm.
    What’s the problem, so far?
  35. losre says:
    Northern Ireland is Ireland. Brits need to acquiesce. Their nearly 800 year reign of terror in Ireland needs to end. They have already deprived the Irish people of their native language as a language of daily life. Isn’t that enough. Just say no to a separated Ireland.
  36. Jack says:
    She looks great!! I wish her all the best
  37. Jeannified says:
    She’s gonna be another Princess Diana…beloved by everyone. Love her sense of fun and fashion! No wonder Price William proposed to her. They seem so in love and down to Earth. Good for them and good for England!
  38. I Choose Me says:
    I like her, she has such a great smile but all I can think about is that I’d break out in hives if I had to be constantly surrounded by and gawked at by paps, officials and everyday strangers as often as she has and will be in future. I know it comes with the territory but seriously, how do they (royals and celebs) stand it?
    On a separate, more sleazy note. Is it just me or does anyone else think William might be going commando underneath his pants?
  39. Gwenevere says:
    Count me in on the coat love! Unfortunately I will have to love it from afar as I can in no way afford to throw down that much cash.
    I’m tired of the ‘Waity’ nickname too. I think it was very smart of them to wait so long. At least this way she knew what she was getting into and they knew each other well enough to be sure they wanted to commit. A six month relationship followed by a quickie wedding may seem romantic in the movies but in real life it’s rarely a good idea.
  40. Mrs.Krabapple says:
    Looks like her hairline is receding too. That’s not normal in a woman her age. Women who starve themselves can end up with bald spots and thinning hair (like Victoria Beckham). Doesn’t anyone in her family notice or care how thin she has gotten? Her mother? William? There must be SOMEBODY in her world who cares about her health? Anybody? Anybody in her world truly cares about her, and not her just her image and whether she can fit into runway-size clothing? Hello? Now’s the time to help her, before she develops full-blown eating disorder like Diana.
  41. The Truth Fairy says:
    THEY HAVE A LOT OF NERVE GOING TO NORTHERN IRELAND.
  42. Rita says:
    @Choose Me
    “William might be going commando underneath his pants?”
    Not to worry. “Commando” is not the royal way. As next in line to the thrown, he is required to carry a seperate set of launch codes not easily accessed by the public.
    Our President carries our launch codes in a case called “The football”. Same thing only our arsenal is substantially bigger.
  43. Benny says:
    I don’t think she needs to worry about being accepted by the people, or being complimented on her “style.” The next queen of England is Camilla – so Kate won’t exactly be following a tough act. I’m sure Kate will be fashionable enough, and likable enough, to do the job. Just smile, wear nice and decent clothing, don’t fall down in the mud, don’t make insulting comments to anyone, and the people will accept her as a great leader. That’s pretty much all the public requires, since the job isn’t exactly rocket science (it’s public relations).
  44. DrM says:
    Good point Benny! 🙂 I don’t think Catherine will overshadow HRH. Wills is popular enough in his own right, much more so than his father was when he married Diana (his Dad has always come across as a bit of an arrogant t**t) so he’ll be fine. Much MUCH less hysteria around this wedding than C and D’s. Which is a good thing…
    She’s lovely. She doesn’t need to change her hair, her eyeliner, her clothes or who she is. She is fine the way she is. Good wishes to them both.
  45. Kloops says:
    Love the coat, hate the hose and black eyeliner. I find her look very dated and she’s a cute girl, she could do better. I’m still completely underwhelmed by her, but I think she is exactly what William and the Palace wanted. She is a perfect choice.
    I have no problem with the Waity nickname because is there really any better way to characterize her? She doesn’t exactly exude an abundance of charm and intellect.
  46. isabelle says:
    Love Kate already!
  47. eternalcanadian says:
    Mrs.Krabapple I noticed that about Catherine’s hair too! We don’t notice it right away because there’s so much hair and it’s so long, but it is thinner than it was 3 years ago. Also is it just me or does it seem when Catherine’s hair is parted like it is here you can see the space at her forehead getting larger. Reminds me of that Joan Rivers infommercial for the thinning hair powder stuff. Hope William’s hair issues aren’t contagious! 😛
  48. Reality says:
    She looks great, she’s dazzling the crowds and smiling graciously in all the video footage I saw on the BBC. Love the coat, but I’d prefer it in grey ot black.
    I’m ready for the ‘waity’ monker to die an overdue death too. It was created by the tabloids and sad wannabe princesses and is so tacky.
    And Northern Irland is part of the UK. As long as that remains a fact, it would be incredibly rude of them to visit Scotland and Wales, but leave Northern Ireland out, despite poliutcal tensions.
  49. Jack Ketch says:
    The dark hose go perfectly with the coat and offset it nicely.
  50. Hmmm says:
    I think she’s giddy with her catch and being future Queen. Her smile never varies or falters. Ever. Will she overshadow Wills? I guess it depends on whether she comes down from her high or not. He, at least, looks like he knows this is business.
  51. Eileen says:
    I think she is adorable. Very cute and seems laid back like Di. Will did good.
  52. bluhare says:
    Thanks to those of you politicking up a puff story. If I wanted that I’d go read the blurb on Huffington Post.
    Second, is it me or has she done something to her face? Is it the weight loss?
  53. P.J. says:
    @bluhare: I noticed it too and think Kate’s face looks a little different because her hair is framing it differently. She used to have waves that accented her eyes.
    I’m speculating that she’s growing it out so people can get a clear view of her face and not have it partially covered by hair hanging in her eyes, which it often did.
  54. JulieM says:
    Kaiser: Don’t let anyone convince you she is not Waity Katie. Perhaps Waity No Longer Katie! And people, please stop with the Catherine garbage. Even William called her Kate during their interview. What pretentious bull hockey! Just look at the palace PR trying to make her into something she was not for the last 9 years. Pathetic. Yeah, bring on the slings and arrows.
    Wannabe princess? Who would want to be in her shoes in a fish bowl for the rest of her life?
  55. CG says:
    ITA JulieM! I don’t get all the incessant fawning over a woman who has done absolutely nothing with her life except sit around and wait for some guy (regardless of royal status) to propose. And I hate the media ramming the “blessed event” down our throats all the time. Kaiser, stick to your guns!
  56. Jackson says:
    Thank you P.J. – not sure why I couldn’t find it. Love it even more in the gray!
  57. Andie says:
    She is a lovely looking girl, and comes across as a nice person as well. Prince William could have done worse, after all, there have surely been countless bimbos after him over the years. I cannot WAIT until next year when I’m going to Northern Ireland myself.
  58. luls says:
    The look on her face is ABSOLUTE GLEE! this woman is ecstatic to be in her own shoes!
    ah well… i think that bodes well for the royal family…. no rebellion and drama like princess Di.
  59. W.O.M. says:
    Know I’m late to this thread, but wanted to pipe up that I still like the Waity Katie nickname. It’s going to take a lot more than a few PR outings & an expensive wedding for me to forget this woman dedicated her twenties to securing that ring. It’s shameful.
  60. poodlemom says:
    Who does pay for her clothes? William???
  61. cprincess says:
    “The Truth Fairy:
    ”””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””
    Oh yeah-why?
    Its the protestants in the North who would not agree to become part of the Republic of Ireland and insisted on remaining loyal to the crown and so at vast expense,years of lawlessness and the British army to protect them it has remained part of Britain albeit with separate governance since the Good Friday agreement…
    Every British government since the 70s would have loved to have pulled out and let Ireland unite-there would have been civil war but at least it would have been an Irish problem ….
