Not all women are comfortable in dresses. When my wife and I married we both wore white linen. Matching shirts her in a long flowing skirt with flowers in her hair, me in white linen drawstring pants.
We had all our guests form a circle and we stood in the middle in front of the Minister.
GOOD FOR THEM !!!!!!

I think there is a generational influence on this, related to how older women struggled for equal rights, how feminism was expressed, and also sexuality. Younger women find it easier to be “sexy” while still being feminist, older ones were fighting for the right to be able to wear jeans without being called whores.

No but what I’m saying is that often one partner is more butch that the other (eg. Ellen, Jodie Foster’s partner, Miranda from S&TC’s partner – sorry, can’t rem. name) and dresses in a more masculine way ie. frocks wouldn’t be their thing anyway, whereas gay males wouldn’t ordinarily wear dresses so why, same argument, would they wear one on their wedding day? But no matter!

I was thinking the same too. Great minds all work alike. You don’t see two gay men marry with one in a tux and one in a wedding gown.

@Geronimo – Yeah, I get that. But it seems to be consistent in a lot of lesbian ceremonies – like when two lesbians get together, one has to be the designated “man”. Why can’t both be girly and feminine? Anyway, just a small pet peeve of mine, hope I didn’t offend anyone.

Guess they’re just being true to themselves, Kaiser, dressing like they would in ordinary life. If someone’s not comfortable in dresses, why wear one on a day when they want to be at their best?
