Courteney Cox on Harper’s Bazaar: ridiculously jacked, or just fine?

cox4

Courteney Cox takes the cover of the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar. I absolutely HATE the Terry Richardson cover shoot, but some of it isn’t the old pervert’s fault. Courteney’s face, which was once beautiful, is now completely and totally jacked to the point of absurdity. She’s so chock full of fillers and Botox, she looks like a puffy, wax figure. Ugh.

Anyway, in the cover interview excerpts, Courtney is trying to convince us that she didn’t split up with David Arquette specifically for her rumored jumpoff Brian Van Holt. Good one, Court.

On if she’s looking for love:
“The thing is, when you get older, it’s more about compatibility than it is about love … I have no desire right now [to date]. I’m not saying never. It just seems weird. I don’t even know how that would happen or how you meet people. I don’t like to go out. I’m not great at small talk … I don’t like to go to parties…There’s a sign on my forehead: exiting social life, entering into isolation.”

On her public split from David Arquette:
“I think every relationship has a point where you stop and reevaluate. Are you happy? Have you grown together or apart? What do you share interests in? I think that’s a normal thing to do, but it’s so much harder when it’s done publicly.”

On David’s famous Howard Stern interview:
“If you didn’t hear the Howard Stern interview and you just read quotes, I’m sure it seemed out of context, crazy. Most guys aren’t mature, are they? I’m not saying there wasn’t some crazy behavior, but if you know who David is, you know what his intentions are, how honest he is, and how big his heart is. You can’t really get mad at David because he’s not a malicious person. He’s not out to harm. But I’m his biggest protector. I can’t help it.”

On how their daughter Coco is taking the split:
“She’s adjusting. Luckily, we’ve always had two houses so there was no change in her living unit. And we both work a lot, so that wasn’t a huge adjustment. She’s our number-one priority. No matter what happens, she’ll be okay because she knows that she is completely safe, loved, and we’ll protect that more than anything in the world.”

On reprising her role in “Scream”:
“It was where David and I fell in love, so it’s a very special thing we get to keep doing.”

On being a self-titled cougar:
“I thought I had always been a little bit of a cougar with David. I don’t find the whole cougar word that offensive. And also, a cougar is someone who takes care of herself and goes out with younger guys. She doesn’t need a man to take care of her.”

[From People & Wonderwall]

Well, Courteney isn’t anywhere near as nauseating as Eva Longoria’s big Aniston-esque failure on Allure, but Court still has issues. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: I think Courteney’s divorce didn’t play out the way she was expecting AT ALL. I think she genuinely thought and hoped that David would get (and would take) much of the “blame” for the split, and that people would attack him as immature and crazy. Then, Courteney would re-enter public life with her jumpoff-turned-new love, Brian Van Holt, and no one would bat an eye. But David had such a public breakdown, and then he was the one who ended up going on Oprah. So… at the end of the day, I don’t think Courteney is being completely honest with us, but I give her credit for sticking by David emotionally and for not bad-mouthing him or publicly blaming him.

UPDATE: Bazaar finally released their full interview. Here it is.

so basically she’s saying that they were never together and they both work all the time so their child doesn’t really know the difference? hmmm…

  2. Gwen says:

What has she done to her face?! :O

  3. Kiska says:

Wow. Didn’t recognize her at all. She looks completely different.

  4. Hautie says:

Dang, someone photoshopped about 20 years off that face.

Yet I agree, she had a plan on that divorce playing out in her favor.

But David having the nervous breakdown over being dumped. Sorta took a sh*t on her woe is me angle.

Plus I still stand by my opinion that Courteney’s jumpoff, is using her. That man likes them young and dumb. Not over 45 and bossy.

  5. brin says:

I don’t know if she’s as sincere as she projects, but I’d like to think so, she was married to David for 11 years.

  6. Angela says:

I first noticed her face looked different (unable to move and show emotions) when she was on the show called “Dirt”. It was distracting and it still is.

  7. mln76 says:

She can put any platitudes out there but she is showing her true nature with how much she jacked up her face. How can anyone find her genuine? It’s obviously not her fault that David has substance abuse problems but I think her calculating nature comes through when you look at how cold and lifeless she has chosen to make herself.

  8. Jackson says:

Oh, how beautifully generic and waxy she looks. Is this what the new over-40, or 45+, ideal is now? I better start saving my pennies for all of the tweaking I’m going to need.

  9. guesty says:

Ridiculously jacked. She doesn’t actually look like that irl I hope.

  10. anon1000 says:

where is aniston sticking her azz in courtney’s divorce ala Vanity Fair 2005? court did not recruit her BFF’s to conduct a smear campaign against her ex. the difference is courteney did the dumping. she was not the dumpee like aniston was.

  11. Jayna says:

I think she looks fantastic. Whatever she is doing to her face is minimal and just right. She looks better in her forties, than her early thirties. Obviously, in a magazine there is all the touchup making her look perfect. But on her TV show, you see her without the photoshopping, and she looks very fresh and pretty.

And I agree with CB, she isn’t being honest. We all know she’s with her co-star. She did expect the long drawn-out split to play differently. Though, I don’t think she expected David to take the blame. I just think she thought it would be a slow end and announce their separation, that they grew apart, and that’s it. She could come out with her new friend that turned into a boyfriend. LOL That didn’t work. David fell apart and now it would look bad if the relationship with the co-star came out in the public. But one day it will, if it lasts, mark my words, and she will say he was a longtime friend and it turned into more way down the road. LOL

  12. Bubbling says:

It’s not face jacking that upsets me, but those two wigs piled up like that in black and white photo

  13. Bailey says:

I don’t see anything jacked about Courtney. Everyone gets photoshopped on the covers.
    Kelly Bensimons face is jacked.

  14. Dana says:

The aging beauty pageant winner hair is doing her no favors.

  15. Dea says:

I don’t love it but don’t hate it either. I think its fine. I like the pictures although photoshoped to the max but still look quite good, not alarming.

  16. junk573r says:

Yeah I don’t see a lot of what everyone else is seeing. I don’t think I’m as sensative to the subtle fillers as everyone else is. Whenever you put a post up saying their face is jacked, I just sort of scratch my head. Unless it’s ridic like lohan and her slap-worthy face labia.

  17. Anna says:

I love how they title this “beauty at every age” and photoshop her to make her look 19. Heck, she didn’t even look this wrinkle-free and jacked when she was new on Friends. And that was a good thing!

  18. mln76 says:

Courtney’s face isn’t jacked???? Subtle fillers??? Really???

  19. Turquoise Blue says:

I’m really getting tired of these “Look Great at Any Age” covers that have cover models who’ve had 18 surgeries to look younger!

  20. bagladey says:

I’m with @Kiska, I wouldn’t have recognised CC. Now she and Jennifer Aniston have the same cheeks.

  21. Jen says:

Wow — they photoshopped her into 1985! Holy crap — her head looks like it was chopped off and put on another model. And the shadows from her nose into her eye socket? No one’s face looks like that! They didn’t even TRY to make her nose look the same from the cover to the rest of the shots. Soooo bad. Boo Harpers!

Hey Kaiser — Google Courtney Cox Dancing in the Dark and put those images side by side with this one. That’s from her first big gig – in 1984!

  22. Alix says:

I disagree with those who say she looks bad — I think the mortician did an *excellent* job!

  23. mln76 says:

@Jen I totally remember the freshed face young girl in that video, also loved her as Alex’s girlfriend on Family Ties. But she has obviously made quite a few changes since then.

  24. Julie says:

I think she looks fine. Just photoshopped. And I get really tired of reading people’s assessments on a celebrity’s marriage. None of us were part of it, so none of us have any idea why the marriage failed.

  25. Eden says:

“There’s a sign on my forehead-exiting social life, entering into isolation”

Don’t worry Courteney, there are NO signs on your forehead saying anything…that’s the point of the mass doses of botox.

I wonder what she means by looking for compatibility rather than love at her age…shouldn’t the two things go together? Why pick one over the other?
Love is so intangible and feeling oriented while compatibility is more rational and definable. No wonder she picks men who are free spirited and immature..she’s trying to use another person to balance out her personality.
It kind of sounds like something an 80 year old widow might say.

“Most guys aren’t mature are they?”
Interesting phrasing. Everyone has immaturity’s in their personality’s and development, but I wouldn’t say that “most guys aren’t mature.” It tells more about her choices.
A man would be crucified if he said the same thing about women.

She looks alright. I’m so used to the filler/botox look, that it looks abnormally normal to me.

  26. OXA says:

She is full of caca, silicone and spackle.

  27. P.M. says:

I don’t know, David always seemed high maintenance himself & it’s weird but the things that initially were attractive after about 5 to 10 years turn into annoying. And if he was anything like my ex despite a lot of talking about change when eventually I’d had enough he was totally blindsided.

  28. jover says:

    American fashion mags have totally jumped the shark with their infatuation with celebutards. WHat does this chick have to do with fashion? If fashion mags only aspire to become glorified tabloids they should drop the pretense and slap on Heidi Montag and Snooki and be done with it- hell, RS had snooki on;
Btw, are they really reprising Scream? Please no.

  29. lcat says:

Not feeling that last pic at all.

  30. Kim says:

If only everyone handled separation/divorce as classy as Courtney. At least in the press. She is handling it like an adult. She isnt bagging on father of her child and is putting Cocos best interests first. The LeAnn Rhimes/Eddie Cibrians of the world could use some of her class.

I do agree with her comment that majority of men are not mature. Regardless of age i have always been more mature than every guy i have dated whether younger or older. Not all guys are immature and not all girls are mature but on the whole i do find women more mature than men.

  31. Kim says:

Jover- agreed. Lets go back to models on FASHION magazine covers and leave the celebs to the tabloid and vanity fair covers.

  32. Anti-icon says:

I hate Terry Richardson (perv) but CC looks good here, I think.

  33. lio says:

Where are the proofs that she is sleeping with Brian Van Holt? (Except photos of the two of them, fully dressed on their work place…)

  34. Maritza says:

    The photo is exaggeratedly photoshopped.

  35. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

I am about 10yrs younger than her, I have smile wrinkles around my eyes and my forehead has more definition than I would like.

Of course I dont eat grass seeds and smear manure on my face but a few surgeries and snap! you look like a really old 18 yr old.

She looks horrible is my point

  36. Tess says:

They’ve photoshopped her into looking like Vanessa Marcil on the cover.

I don’t think her face would look nearly as jacked without it.

  37. scarlet says:

Hard to say how much photoshopping was actually done. She has always been a beautiful woman and she continues to look gorgeous in these shots. Don’t like the black and white one too much, though. Too much hair and an awkward pose.

  38. REALIST says:

Jacked and photoshopped. She’s my age, and I am no beauty, but have been accused of being attractive and looking years younger than my age (My genes-hah-hah!).
But, I could never, ever look even remotely that good without the assistance of makeup, plastic surgery, and our friend PS.
Has anyone thought of “The Portrait of Dorian Grey” with this seeming epidemic of desperate attempts to find the Fountain of Youth?
Btw, this desperate attempt was started long ago, by the Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon in the 1500’s. No luck for him, either.

  39. flourpot says:

She seems to be one of those girls who always have a “what stinks in here” look on their face… unless there’s a man around. And then they’ll shoot lazer daggers to all the women while simpering for the man.

I have no idea if this is her or nor, I know nothing about her. But I hate her anyway. 🙂

  40. soso says:

She has the same attitude as her friend only difference is she at least is kinder.
How can she say “Most guys aren’t mature are they?” and this is coming from a mature woman who jacks up her face? They have always lived separate lives hence the two houses so whenever she was mad at him, she would send him there away from her and most times with Coco so she would decompress with her girlfriends and do what they always do. It’s no secret the stuff they indulged in.

  41. Newbie says:

I work with heavy photoshop every day. Her face has been massively airbrushed in those pictures. I’m sure she’s had some work done, pretty much like every woman in hollywood who is older than 18, but it’s very subtle and, apart from these photographs, I can tell that Cox is looking her age. Albeit very good for her age.

  42. Newbie says:

She seems sincere to me. Its probably really naive of me to say this, but I don’t necessarily believe she was boning Van Holt this entire time. There’s only rumor of it based on pictures of them working, in character, on their show. So it’s something that I’d need more evidence to believe. Now if we were getting tons of sources from on set that they were getting it on, plus pictures of them vacationing and hanging out/making out together outside of work, then yes. Absolutely.

PS-and men ARE less mature than women, probably 3 times out of 5. I don’t care what anyone says.

  43. CB Rawks says:

Watching Cougar Town it is really apparent that her mouth is weird and jacked. It’s just not Monica anymore, and in fact you don’t even think of Monica.

  44. Matt says:

OMG THESE PHOTOS ARE JUST AWFUL.

Yes, she looks completely jacked and moonfaced, the same in every pic so you know it isn’t the photoshop.

The hair in the last pic is… ridic.

  45. Isa says:

They airbrushed her joker smile away.

  46. whatyousay?! says:

haha why didnt they just cut and paste her head from when she was in her twenties? woulda saved time. disappointed in this lady; her characters are always whiney crazy ladies but in personal interviews shes so down to earth and seductive

    —what happened?!

  47. Anti-icon says:

Re: maturity in men versus women. Scientifically, it is the real wiring of brains that make CC’s statement TRUE. Women’s brains can go from the left hemisphere to the right more easily than men’s brains — on average — through brain scan imagery.

  48. Karin says:

This woman was born with unearthly beauty, but now… she´s so… not her. What is so terrible about ageing? She was born beautiful, would always be beautiful, according to the natural ageing process. Trying to stop and freeze nature transforms one into “no one”.
