Orlando Bloom: “I always like the smell of a woman, the neck, behind the ear”

orlando_bloom_2_wenn3254397

These are some new photos of Orlando Bloom, promoting his new gig in London. Orly has become the new “face” of Hugo Boss’s fragrance for men, Boss Orange Man, which seems like a completely random name for a cologne. Orly is joined (in spirit) by the face of Boss Orange Woman, Sienna Miller. I have to say… Orly needs the gig. Even though he’s gotten some film roles here and there over the past year, Orly needed to get his face out there in some kind of professional setting. So that’s why he looks so nice in these photos – he’s happy to be working. Orly also sat down for an interview with Elle UK at the event:

On fragrance
‘I wasn’t really a ‘fragrance guy’ before, but Boss Orange is so easy to wear. It adds another dimension to my personality’, Orlando told us. ‘I wouldn’t have done it if it didn’t fit my personality; it’s so easy going, you can go mountain biking in it if you want!’

On inspiration
‘I love to people watch whenever I can. I’m also inspired by nature, books, art, films, old TV shows, music, architecture and travel, so much inspires me’.

On home
‘London is definitely home for me. The underground has a really ‘specific’ smell which I remember from travelling to school and college. I also love the smell of fresh cut grass in summer, it reminds me of Kent (where Orlando grew up) and cricket’.

On travel
‘I love Africa. And I especially love Nepal. The people are amazing, really free-spirited.’

On his look
‘For me, I have to be comfortable in what I’m wearing and in my own skin. But if being groomed to the nines gives you a click in your step makes you happy then great… I do enjoy a frock, when I’m playing a character, it adds another dimension!’

On style icons
‘Steve McQueen was always a stylish man and Johnny Depp definitely has his own style’.

On women
‘I always like the smell of a woman, the neck, behind the ear; she can be wearing a fragrance or not. I don’t like fragrances that wear a woman though’.

On film
‘I really like the film Perfume, it’s really hard but they definitely captured the spirit. It would be great if, like 3D cinemas, they could add smell to films’.

On the future
‘I always try to evolve, take myself out of my comfort zone and push myself forward’.

[From Elle UK]

He’s really rather harmless, isn’t he? He’s not a bad guy, he’s just not super-talented or anything. And yes, I know I’m bringing the wrath of the Orly-loonies on my head for that one, but honestly, I could say much worse. Besides, I’m liking Orlando more and more these days now that he’s a dad. He seems… calmer and sweeter.

“I always like the smell of a woman, the neck, behind the ear”
so written by the Hugo Boss PR people.

  4. aenflex says:

    he’s a girly-man. milquetoast is all.

  5. Sarah says:

He’s gorgeous in that add. I love him. awwww swoooon

  6. Blueflie says:

Beth – I am dude….and I totally agree with what you just said. I don’t see the vibe..he seems so…Marc Anthony-ish to me. He’s got the skeeve thing going.

  7. caroline says:

weird, i thought he was john mayer in the print ad. not a great comparison to be making.

  8. guesty says:

Gonna have to go smell this fragrance…doesn’t sound appealing tho unless smelling like fruit is your thing.

  9. Quest says:

I would love to smell him all day if he would let me….sigh!!!

  10. Novaraen says:

Wow…he looks really good. Ever since he got married and became a dad…something about him has softened. He does look calmer and happier. Aww…bless him.

Now I want to smell Hugo Orange. I like their fragrances.:)

  11. Kasey says:

He is nice-looking, yet somehow I see a resemblance between JT and he. Anyone else seeing Timberlake as the American, curly-froed, budget version of Orlando?

  12. Isabel says:

I only like him when he’s dressed like Legolas. Is that weird?

  13. silken_floss says:

Eh, I’d let him stick in. He’s still a cutie

  14. Arianna says:

i loved him, then got sick of him

and now i find him shockingly attractive again. i think it’s the hair and that one ear piercing huzzahhhhhh

and the whole dad thing– we all like that here dont we? (OLYPHANT)

  15. Riley says:

I hope to goodness gracious “smell” is not added to film (what a stupid, ashton kutcher thing to say).

  16. the original bellaluna says:

All due respect, Arianna, but Bloom is no Timothy Olyphant! Maybe in 20 years, Bloom can hope he’s on the same level as The Olyphant, Wahlberg, Damon, et al…

(Sorry, sorry…I’m just v-e-r-y protective of The Olyphant. I love him! But I totally understand what you said, because I felt the same way about Matt Damon.)

  17. machiavelli says:

Just looking at these pics makes me sleepy.

  18. Oi says:

OMG my high school crush on him is soooo coming back! Why? how did this happen?

  19. f.prefect says:

Anyone else notice that the Boss Orange logo is a cropped in rectangle of the product’s initials … B.O.?

  20. mln76 says:

He can’t act for shizz but I like him and yes I find him sexy….especially since he is so devoted to his wife and baby.

  21. lcat says:

Did the Boss people force him to talk about scent every other question, or does he just have some weird obsession w/ it?

  22. teehee says:

And that my friends is why Mama always insists you got to clean behind those ears.

  23. KatieM says:

    @Isabel,
I completely agree! I loved the long blond hair look on him (and I HATE long hair on guys). He has not looked good to me since, lol.

  24. Arianna says:

    @ The Original Bellaluna!

OMG i totally agree i did not mean to put them on the same level!!!
    olyphant for life

    bloom for a season

  25. Boromir's bytch says:

He needs to take his ballz back from his wife’s handbag. Wuss. Those answers were so predictable, so boring. They’re paying him a boatload of money, that’s why he’s wearing Boss Orange.

Too bad he settled on being a celebrity instead of a working actor.

  26. curmudgeon says:

I liked him fine until he said that cheesy ass smell neck ear thing. Yeesh

  27. Sam says:

He totally looks like John Meyer in this ad. What is with the weird lines on the underside of his arms? Are they tattoo’s?
Also – Boss Orange Man and Boss Orange Woman just sounds like 2 people with WAY too much fake tan….

  28. icantbelievethis says:

@Isabel I feel the same way. Slap the blonde wig and elf ears on him and *swoon*.

  29. Autumnstars says:

He is so darned adorable. Love him.

  30. Elfie says:

He really looks like puerto rican songwriter Tommy Torres…

  31. Aqua says:

I find that when men become a dad they are just super sexy to me.I’m not sure why that is though.

The same goes for any man who is in a loving long term relationship/marriage .Eg Hugh Jackman.

  32. Emma says:

I like him better either with a full go-tee or completely clean shaven. This dirt lip thing just makes me want to hold him down and scrub him.

    Hmm… on the second thought…

  33. ordinarygirl86 says:

Oh Orlando, I thought I was done with you years ago when you had finished up with POTC- but now you’ve brought me back to you by discussing my hot-spot and looking delish in that ad. The fact that you are so cute and nuturing with your wife and son pushes me over the edge…

  34. Tiffany says:

Kaiser and some of the other commenters. WOW! There is some bitterness. He took a break because of over exposure and focused on family. He has the cash so why not. He is harmless and cute, so no harm no foul. I have always liked him and wish him the best. He is a pro who answered the questions and properly promoted the product, yeah he is a washed up douche.

  35. Tiffany says:

C’mon! Legolas was the most bada** elf around! I will love him forever for that role.
    He’s a cutie.

  36. DD says:

he’s just a handsome boy, and i’ve seen much worse actors. I don’t think he’s a terrible actor either and he’s so cute, I need more orly movies!

  37. Lolo says:

I actually sighed. Still in love with him. He’s adorable.

  38. coexxi says:

For me he never really did it in the looks departement (even so he is a hot elf!) but in combination with his VOICE….. wow! Sexy!

I saw the first POTC first in german and I was bored, later I saw it again in english and I knew what’s what… 😉

  39. kai says:

Calmer? Sweeter? Softened??? He’s always been a limp noodle. Don’t get the attraction. I like the Rupert Friend version of him much better.

  40. mystified says:

I just love Orlando Bloom! .. and Keira Knightly and Depp!

To me, they are all so charismatic and have great on screen chemistry. I have no idea whether they can truly act, but they are all very watchable. That’s why I pay money to see those sorry, hard-to-follow Pirates of the Carribbean movies. The screenplays are awful, but the music is fun to listen to (great workout music) and the actors are so watchable especially when they are together.

I would pay money to watch the trio read a phone book.

  41. vegemite says:

    Dude pouts like a chick.

  42. harfang says:

This makes me want to tweet him and be all “I KNOW, RIGHT??” Because he is. That is the most delicious typically-exposed part of a woman.

  43. ear plugs says:

Excellent beat ! I would like to apprentice whilst you amend your site, how could i subscribe for a weblog website? The account helped me a acceptable deal. I were tiny bit familiar of this your broadcast offered bright transparent concept
