We really should pay more attention to hottie Welshman Matthew Rhys

These are new photos of Matthew in Wales on Tuesday, posing his cute ass off on this 614-acre farm he’s trying to save. I think I’ve included Matthew Rhys in a couple of Hot Guy Fridays, many months ago. Um, I definitely need to add him again! Now, I’ve noticed that Matthew Rhys is a cutie before (he‘s on that show, Brothers & Sisters)… but I really should revisit the issue with a Fassbender-esque obsession, right? Matthew is my type too, as you bitches have probably figured out by now. Dark hair, light eyes, pale, with an accent. Throw all of those characteristics together, and my panties explode.

But wait! This story gets even better!!! Matthew is trying to save this land because it’s part of some Welsh myth about a DRAGON. That’s right, bitches. Matthew Rhys. DRAGON. And it’s not even a euphemism for his (incredibly) Welsh dong!

The National Trust has launched a £1 million appeal to save a hill farm in Snowdonia where the myth of the Welsh dragon was born. In the biggest appeal since Sir Anthony Hopkins helped to save Snowdon, the Trust are trying to buy Llyndy Isaf, a 614-acre farm in the Nant Gwynant valley. The hill farm includes Llyn Dinas lake, known as the jewel of Snowdonia, and rare birds such as the chough.

The hills around the farm are also steeped in mythology, with legend telling how the red dragon won a battle over lake and became the national emblem of Wales. The Trust fears that if it does not buy the property, the estate could fall into commercial hands, meaning access could be closed to the public and bad management would threaten wildlife. The current owner, Ken Owne has run the farm using traditional methods for decades and has also kept a bunk house and campsite for walkers.

“We’ve worked hard and over that time, we’ve realised more and more the importance of farming in harmony with the environment and that’s why we have offered the farm to the National Trust as I know they will continue to farm in the same way I have,” he said.

Matthew Rhys, the Welsh star of the Hollywood TV Series Brothers and Sisters, urged the public to help raise the money by the deadline in December.

“The stunning beauty of Snowdonia is enjoyed by so many but now part of it is under threat. We have a once in a lifetime chance to buy and protect Llyndy Isaf, including Llyn Dinas, the beautiful lake that played a part in the dramatic scene which witnessed the birth of the Welsh dragon emblem,” he said. “If we don’t act now we risk losing the peace of this tranquil valley to commercial development.”

The appeal to buy Llyndy Isaf is launched under the umbrella of the National Trust’s Snowdonia Appeal. In 1998 the appeal raised £4 million to buy the 4118 acre Hafod-y-Llan estate on the southern flank of Snowdon.

If the National Trust is successful with its appeal, walkers and campers will continue to have access to the farm and land around the lake, the basic campsite and bunk barns will be open to everyone and there are plans to start improving the network of footpaths.

[From The Telegraph]

There are more details at The Telegraph link in case you want to donate your panties (or your money) to The Matthew Rhys Dong Trust (hey, that’s what it should be called). How sexy is it that he’s not only hot, he’s a conservationist too? And he’s involved in local issues! Sigh… I need more Matthew Rhys in my life.

By the way – I’ve started doing previews and completely unscientific polling for HGF on Twitter. If you would like to see, start following me!

  1. Zelda says:

Why does his face only take up a third of the average face-alloted space?

  2. brin says:

He kind of reminds me of Gerry Butler, but no worries, Kaiser, you won’t have to shank me for Matthew (only for Gerry).

  3. The Truth Fairy says:

When I first saw the pic, I thought it was Xtina’s new man ….

  4. Jackson says:

Well now, good morning to you, mister.

  5. Rita says:

The dragon-dong euphemism would be totally inappropriate here. The world has lost more than 90% of its dragon habitat.

In the olden days, when access to peat was delayed by weather, their firey breath warmed the biscuits of lonely Welch women making grape jam while waiting for their men to return from the annual sword swinging dongfestivus.

    God bless dragons everywhere.

  6. Stephy2585 says:

Is it just me or does he look exactly like an aged James McAvoy?

  7. Kaiser says:

I do think he looks Gerard Butler-esque. Which means that I’m all over it.

  8. MikeyAngel says:

He is definitely a cutie. I have a HUGEEEE request Kaiser. Pretty please include Jim Caviezel in HGF. He is my forever dong! Please!!! Him in the count of the Monte Cristo or GI Jane look, NOT the Jesus look.

  9. the_blonde_one says:

it’s like someone gave Gerard a flea dip, a few iq points and a week at a sober house. God they’re both beautiful.

  10. Cherry Rose says:

Ooh. Imagine having both Gerard Butler and Matthew Rhys with you at the same time.

    *swoons*

  11. Mel says:

I don’t need reminding:) I’m surprised Matthew’s not a bigger name in Hollywood, he’s an excellent actor, love him as Kevin in B an S and loved him as Dylan Thomas…maybe he’ll get a break through role some time.

Snowdonia is just up the road from me, the part they’re trying to save is absolutely magical, those pics don’t do it justice.

  12. OXA says:

I spent soome time there and Snowdonia’s beauty takes your breath away. The vision of Mathew naked not so much, as a rule Welsh do not circumcise.

  13. devilgirl says:

    We should?????

  14. Sunnyjyl says:

Gerard Butler slim, with better diction.

He plays a gay guy so well on Brothers and Sisters I’ve not gotten too excited. Saving the planet is way sexy to me, though. I’ll give him another look.

  15. Mizz Tickles says:

Is he gay in real life?

  16. Sunnyjyl says:

I have no idea if he is gay or not. If not, he sure is a good actor.

  17. Mel says:

    He’ straight.

  18. Solveig says:

He’s the love child of Gerard Butler and James McAvoy! I believe that U.K. has started a mass production of guys who look like them, this makes me happy but quite uncomfortable too.
Snowdonia is an odd but beautiful name, sounds like a land of some fantasy novel.

  19. Kazza says:

Mmmm. Not to mention he’s like besties with Ioan Gruffudd and Michael Sheen (yay, Wales!) AND speaks Welsh as his first language and is a bit of a mummy’s boy, too. LOVE. I totally encourage his frequenting HGF more often!

  20. Kayla says:

I love how he’s doing the static balloon thing on his hair in the last picture, just messing around like a kid. So cute!

  21. Boromir's bytch says:

He dated Sienna Miller for a while when they were filming a movie with Keira K. He’s also the one responsible for introducing Sienna to Balthazar Getty.

You’ve got to see him with Ioan in Very Annie Mary if you like quirky Welsh movies.

  22. Ruffian9 says:

    Oh..he’s adorable!

  23. Anoni Mus says:

I see the Gerard Butler resemblance! He’s a cutie.

  24. pinns says:

If the hotness is to be continued, he needs to stop playing ‘Kevin’ on Brothers & Sisters.

Not because he isn’t any good in it, but because the over-in-one-episode-storylines [subsection: could-have-been-written-by-children] are so bad it could seriously harm all the casts’ careers.
