Princesses Eugenie & Beatrice’s wedding fashion: tragic or not the worst?

beartice

Well, was Chelsy Davy the worst dressed girl at the wedding, or was it Princess Beatrice? Or Princess Eugenie? Both looked pretty rough, in my opinion, but no one compares to Samantha Cameron (the PM’s wife) for Worst Dressed in my eyes. Sam wasn’t wearing a hat, her dress was unflattering (bordering on fug), and she looked like she just rolled out of bed. But back to the princesses. Yikes.

Beatrice wore tan-beige, with a ginormous… headpiece. I can’t call it a hat, and it’s not a fascinator, in my opinion. It’s just a fug headpiece, and I do not care for it. The suit is rough too – too much doily action happening at the collar.

As for Eugenie… I know what she was aiming for, and… well, she’s young. She’ll learn. This color is difficult to pull off, and it’s not a color that screams “classy, princess-y.” It looks more like cruise-wear. Tropical. Too turquoise. Too puffy. And the headpiece/hat… ugh.

I also included some photos of Bea and Eugenie at last night’s dinner at the Palace. Both girls looked so much better in their evening-wear:

  1. Solveig says:

It takes guts – or a huge amount of British sense of humor – to wear an octopus to the Royal wedding of the century.

  2. eny says:

when I saw them for the first time today, I was speechless.

  3. ladybert62 says:

OMG! YIKES!!!!! Those dresses are awful and those headpieces are beyond ridiculous! How can they wear them with a straight face? Even the evening gowns are disasters – send these girls to a Kate Middleton training camp for those who need dressing rehab!

  4. Mairead says:

I like Beatrice’s dress, but felt it could be a bit more fitted – she lost weight and is still dressing as a bigger girl. I like the headpiece in itself, but it’s more appropriate for Ladies Day at the races, rather than a wedding for a future monarch.

I love, love, love Eugenie’s hat, but she needs to be more confident to pull it off. I’d like the dress more if the hem wasn’t so all over the shop. I think it’d be better if it was a block of colour. The only person who really rocked the floral was Princess Anne (also with a good Treacy hat) – strangely!

  5. Jackson says:

Oh my God. That is absurd. I don’t even care about their dresses, those hats scream ‘look at me! Look at me!’ And also, “I am a fool!’ I don’t even know what to say about them. Hats can be tasteful and appropriate – unfortunately these are neither.

  6. maritan says:

Really horrible choices for both young ladies. They looked much better the night before. The doily thing and headpiece of Princess Beatrice is truly awful (head-to-toe beige rarely works for anyone). I like the square neckline for Princess Eugenie.

  7. Jackson says:

@ledybert62 – exactly, they are ‘headpieces’ and not ‘hats.’

The word ‘farce’ comes to mind. Why would anyone wear such things? And to such a formal function? These are so bad that I honestly thought this was a joke post filled with photoshops! Oy!!!

  8. WhiteNoise says:

Looks like they’ve inherited their mother’s gruesome fashion sense. They look like a pair of off duty clowns and that’s being very generous to them. They’re even more gruesomely clown-like here – http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/04/29/article-1381800-0BD33E3E00000578-719_634x801.jpg

Oh and couldn’t agree more re Sam Cameron. The Daily Mail has been trying to paint her (unsuccessfully and laughably) as some kind of style icon, no less, for the past year or so. Fail on every single level.

  9. KimnotKardashian says:

Yes, they all look pretty terrible, but did you see what Tara Palmer-Tomkinson was wearing? Her hat was basically an electric blue vagina, and her entire outfit (dress, wrap, gloves) matched exactly. Also, apparently her drug-ravaged nose is big news in England. I’d never heard of her before.

  10. Annaloo says:

I can’t stop laughing at Beatrice’s hat. I think it’s awesome.. never seen anything like that before.

  11. lucy2 says:

    LOL Solveig!

I’m sorry, but that beige “hat” makes her look like a moron. She will probably regret that for years to come. The blue dress is pretty bad too.

  12. serena says:

    This pic screams FUG!!!!!!!!!
Totally FUG! Weren’t they embarrassed to go to such a ceremony dressed like that? Oh my god, I would have killed myself, in their place.

  13. norma says:

beatrice’s headpiece is a bit understated for such an occasion. i think it would have benefitted from having miniature monkeys perch casually on the top – just to give it that extra “kate moss” london edge.

  14. Jen34 says:

They were very distracting sitting in that second row. I can’t be mean because they are young girls. I wonder if their mother dressed them, though.

  15. OtherChris says:

They both look horrible! They both have nice figures and pretty enough faces, but there’s no excuse for those outfits.

Honestly, why would you do that? For spite? Tricks? Laughs? Is there no one who can help them dress?

  16. MSMLNP says:

Princess Beatrice is 22, I am sure she dresses herself.

bwahaha, monkeys to give it an “edge”…LMAO!!!

  17. Gabrielle says:

If William can slingshot Kate’s garter through that hat thing, everybody in England gets a free pint.

  18. Amy says:

I don’t know, maybe Beatrice was trying to emulate Lady Gaga (she once wore a lobster right?), it seemed like something she would wear.

But seriously, all I can think of is a reindeer every time I see that headpiece.

  19. DrM says:

Both outfits were bad…really bad. And Princess Beatrice’s hat…good grief.

  20. TXCinderella says:

They remind me of the ugly step-sisters from Cinderella. I guess no one told them that you should be subtle as to not upstage the bride.

  21. funny says:

For such royal family which famous with its high elegant taste..the fergi’s daugthers have completely “disaster” eye catching taste. These girls looks like someone has just picked them up from late Carnaval party and continuing partying til the next morning. They’re not pretty girls at all, they should think to cover their lack of good looking at least with good “decent” clothing..which they obviously dont.

  22. Jen34 says:

    @ TXcinderella
“They remind me of the ugly step-sisters from Cinderella. I guess no one told them that you should be subtle as to not upstage the bride. ”

    Spot on.

  23. beth says:

when they looked at themselves in the mirror with that headpiece on, i wonder what was the first thought that popped in mind, and what the devil they said to themselves to squelch that thought. i also wondered what ridiculous sales spiel the salesperson gave… i would very much like to have seen it all on Candid Camera… to fork out a large sum of money for that is one thing, to wear it in public in broad daylight and at the most publicised wedding event of the year…

maybe they both just have a very good sense of humour 🙂

  24. French reader says:

I watched this on French state TV (France 2) only because Karl Lagerfeld was commenting the thing and I knew he would bring it. And damnit he did: he said that pink hat was “atrocious, a nightmare” and that what came to his mind to decribe it were “words I can’t even use on television”. Love him.

  25. embertine says:

Outfits both pretty gross but one point in their favour has to be made… those girls sure do have lovely legs.

And now I feel like a perv because I’m old enough to remember them being born.

  26. londonLady says:

Beatrice’s outfit it is fashion forward but she doesn’t pull it off. Eugiene, beautiful girl, horrible dress. This was a really terrible turnout for the two girls. But SamCams outfit was lovely, she always looks great.

  27. daisydoodle says:

Yikes!! Do they have mirrors in the Palace? Poor Beatrice probably took one look at herself and said “Man I look good!’

  28. hoganbcmj says:

wow, they growed up … and also, those hats must be some kind of inside joke or royal middle finger to the world. Good for them, I like their spunk!

  29. dread pirate cuervo says:

Beatrice is like a character from a Tim Burton movie. Her eyes are so damn big!!!

  30. Maritza says:

That beige hat is horrible! You can tell that is a coat she has covering her dress. Now the blue hat is not that bad but the dress has a terrible hemline, that’s what makes it ugly.

  31. Season says:

    It’s rainforest vs safari.

  32. The Other Katherine says:

    @Gabrielle – LMAO.

I didn’t see anything wrong with Mrs. Cameron’s outfit, other than it’s a bit dull. Was there a giant hat that didn’t appear in the photo I saw?

These princesses look TERRIBLE. Jaw-droppingly so. Not as in “ugly,” as in “zero taste or class.” It’s like they felt they needed to be sure and remind the world, “We’re Sarah Ferguson’s daughters, and don’t you forget it!”

  33. Justaposter says:

Lets just all hope that these girls have more brains then their parents. If they do..they are already ahead in the game of life.

  34. sassenach says:

I am sorry but these girls are so unattractive and these outfits are making it worse. They are literally an eyesore.

  35. MourningTheDeathofMusic says:

Both of them look like hell.

  36. fluffyrabbit says:

My first reaction was that Fergie sat her daughters down and said “Girls – I need you to pull a Lindsay and instead of putting f&ck you on your fingernails, go rent some Lady Gaga concert footage and then go shopping. Show those royal tight asses where to stuff it.”

  37. Delta Juliet says:

I feel bad even saying this but…..very unattractive outfits on very unfortunate looking young women. Wow.

  38. Crystalline says:

I can’t help but feel like they both were unnecessarily attention grabbing. They have awful style, but they should’ve known better. Eugenie especially, that hat was just ugh. Who in their right mind sees that and goes “this looks like an awesome accessory to wear to a televised event that will be seen by millions!”

  39. girlindisguise says:

They both bought one way tickets to fuglytown in those dresses! Hideous!!!

  40. DGO says:

    Antlers.

  41. Stacia says:

I could shoot hoops through that hat. Im sorry but that hat is just fuggly.

  42. the original bellaluna says:

Dear God! WTF is on their heads?! I thought they’d been attacked by animal-type things on the way in!!

  43. JulieM says:

I thought Eugenie was tragic all around but I actually thought Beatrice’s outfit was not all that bad. She’s looking pretty good after all that marathon training. That King Tut thing on her head, though. What was that?

  44. tiredofrumers says:

hatters gonna hat (haha!). honestly, i liked their daring and un-boring choices and they seem like fun broads!

  45. omondieu says:

Maybe it was the fact that I was still half-asleep when I flicked the TV on at 5:30 this morning, but when I saw Beatrice, I thought, “What is Lady Gaga doing at Kate and William’s wedding?!”

  46. Sarah says:

Princess Beatrice’s last night palace dinner dress is almost identical to my senior prom dress! But I’m from Dallas and my senior prom was in 2006 so I don’t think it’s a good thing, for her.

  47. dread pirate cuervo says:

Maybe Beatrice is wearing an Octopus hat in reference to her b-day 8/8/88?

  48. REALIST says:

Oh my God! I assume that Fergie had nothing to do with this because she wasn’t invited. Then again, maybe Fergie did have something to do with this because she wasn’t invited…

  49. anne says:

Tacky – they look like the wierd ladies in Nanny McPhee

  50. ak138 says:

I had to do a double-take on that hat. At first I thought it was a giant question mark. But given the vacant look Bea often sports, a question mark would’ve been appropriate.

  51. Cheyenne says:

Jesus please us, I wouldn’t wear that for Halloween.

  52. Ellie says:

    Unfortunately, very TRAGIC.

  53. jc126 says:

I’m amazed no one tackled them and stole those hideous things before they left the house. The most ridiculous hats I’ve ever seen.

  54. Sassy says:

The fuck? FAIL. That beige thing on Beatrice’s head should be shot and buried.

  55. asiont says:

I’m scared of Beatrice’s teeth, they’re so dangerously white

  56. guesty says:

    Tragic.

  57. Regine says:

BAD. Very ill-fitting, ugly, bad. Almost like they tried to look ridiculous. BAD.

  58. MoMo says:

I like Eugenie’s dress- but damn, they look like they’re wearing a peacock and goat antlers on their heads. I guess lady gaga has broken down all social barriers with regard to fashion standards.

  59. Jaded says:

The apples didn’t fall far from the tree…I remember this godawful creation Fergie wore when she was a few months’ pregnant – this is a black & white image but it was electric pink and black….with bright red hair….simply eye-shattering.

  60. Quinton says:

Very mad head piece on princess beatrice’s head i so call it a dis on the wedding

  61. Moi says:

It looks like a rabid octopus mated with a mutant venus fly trap and the afterbirth landed on Bea’s head.

  62. kazoo says:

beatrice looks like a reindeer with that thing.

    eugenie looks like a bitch.

  63. Quinton says:

I bet it is exactly what she wanted, she will have more hits on her outfit than the bride what an outrage.

  64. MJ says:

Love, love LOVE these wacky broads. Wearing outlandish headpieces is pretty common at royal weddings and these crazy Philip Treacy hats are really out there… I know people think they’re ugly, but I think they’re cool and unique. At least they’re not boring!

  65. Nanea says:

As I said in another thread hours ago, both of them don’t seem to own a mirror or don’t know how to use it yet.

I have no idea what was wrong with SamCam. A style icon she’s not, and she walked into church like she was trying to avoid treading on all the raw eggs that have been leftover from Easter and have since been spoilt.

  66. noirod says:

    I don’t get it………..

  67. TheMango says:

If I wanted target practice, I would use Beatrice’s headpiece.

  68. danielle says:

Unfortunate looking girls,in unfortunate outfits. I thought Samantha Cameron looked fine.

  69. Tia C says:

Chelsy Davy gets my vote for worst dressed. Her blouse and skirt look mismatched, and it is she, not the PM’s wife, who looks like she just rolled out of bed and didn’t even run a brush through her hair. I think it was smart of Mrs. Cameron to not wear one of those retarded hats. She looks tasteful. Fergie’s daughters look ridiculous.

  70. janie says:

    Drucilla and Anastacia, Cinderella stepsisters.

  71. Cheyenne says:

I think they just wanted to f up the wedding because their mother wasn’t invited. Eugenie looks like a blue O-celo sponge and Beatrice looks like she sprouted antlers.

  72. Jaded says:

@Tia – agree! Chelsy looked like she just staggered in from an all-nighter. I’m surprised she didn’t have a cig hanging off her lip…

  73. Iggles says:

    They looked terrible!

  74. hellen says:

They both looked horrible. Their clothing does not even fit! Beatrice is swimming in her outfit, and Eugenie is busting out of hers.

I always expect Princess Anne to look horrendous and she did not disappoint. Windsor women (with the exception of Her Madj) always look like crap on dress-up occasions.

  75. Fabianne says:

I want to say Beatice looks slightly better that her sister but…

  76. Cleo says:

I swear they did this on purpose, they hate her guts because she’s prettier and mommy wasn’t welcome at the party.

  77. painterspirit says:

I was wonder who these two were when I saw them- the first thing I noticed was Beatrice’s headpiece- she actually ruined her dress, ’cause it’s not that bad. Now Eugenie–all of that is tragic!

  78. Kim says:

They just arent pretty girls bless them – they do the best they can. Beatrices hat looks like she is channeling lady gaga-ha! I liked Eugenies night dress but Beatrie’s was tacky and looked terrible on her body type.

  79. Kim says:

Dianna would have wanted Fergie at the wedding even in lieu of her trying to make money off her ex. Willam probably did as well but The Queen would have nothing of it after what Fergie did trying to make $ off her ex.

  80. Lia says:

Beatrice has tragically inherited both her mother’s unfortunate face and her ridiculousness.

  81. jenna says:

Bea has the scariest crazy eyes I’ve ever seen.

  82. Kim123 says:

I’m from the South so I will just say “Bless Their Hearts” and leave it at that

  83. Ron says:

The absolute worst was Samantha Cameron, she looked like she was going to the office, not the Royal Wedding! What was that. Chelsey Davy looked wrong too, like she borrowed the dress/suit thing from her Nana. I didn’t mind Beatrice, you could have saved that outfit buy removing the piping and little bows. Eugenie is just beyond. I do love that they had fun with it regardless of the result.

  84. KCT says:

Previously thinking she may be smarter than her mother, the outfit makes me wonder about Beatrice’s thought process. It goes without saying that the hat was only for attention. It’s obvious she’s got her Fegie’s bad judgment as well as poor taste in clothes.

  85. Mary says:

TRAGIC dress on E, TRAGIC hat on B. Bee looks like she is wearing a giant pretzel. Eugenie just looks WTF.

  86. Julie says:

They were protesting Fergie being snubbed!

  87. AnnieFleming says:

TXCInderella- I was going to say the EXACT thing!

  88. DiannSteph says:

Thank you for the thorough royal wedding coverage!

Beactrice’s hat is cracking me up!
Look at Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer’s daughters hats.
    They’re pretty girls w/stylish hats

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1381956/Royal-Wedding-Princess-Dianas-brother-Earl-Spencer-resembles-father.html

  89. Annie says:

They’re definitely Sarah Ferguson’s daughters : Tacky, tacky, tacky.

  90. wunderkindt says:

    Fugliest headpieces ever!

Victoria Beckham had one of the best though.

  91. BeckyR says:

Beatrice & Eugenie looked ree-dic-u-lous! Especially Beatrice’s “fascinator”…concur with an above post, it looked liked some freaking antlers–deformed antlers. Looked like they TRIED to look their worst.

  92. eternalcanadian says:

I laughed when I saw those two. I couldn’t believe the crazy outfits they wore. Not one bit classy or graceful. Eugenie was clomping down the aisle and that hat of Beatrice, whoa, can’t believe her grandmother didn’t suggest a change of headwear.

  93. CG says:

They look terrible, but there are certain aspects of the outfits I like. I actually like Eugenie’s hat, and the dress under Beatrice’s band-aid coat looks like it could be pretty (saw a pic of the skirt somewhere else, it looked like an airy pleated chiffon-y type thing). I hope they dressed themselves and a stylist isn’t responsible for these messes!

  94. Hmmm says:

    One tragic word: monstrosities.

  95. Judy says:

#70: You beat me to it! When I saw them this morning, I didn’t know who they were and thought to myself, “Oh, the two ugly stepsisters from Cinderella.”

  96. Dani says:

I was looking at the pics and couldn’t shake the feeling that they reminded me of someone. Then it occured to me, they would fit right in with “Americas’ royalty”, the Kennedys. They have the toothy grin that is so familiar to that family.

The British certainly like their goofy hats. Personally, I don’t get the appeal as they look ridiculous to me. But alas, they still wear wigs in their court system too. Just add that to the list of reasons why our ancestors paddled across the pond to start a new country.

  97. Mare says:

That thing on her head, it’s right above her eyes!! It’s horrible, really.

  98. jemshoes says:

Eugenie’s headpiece was more Gaga than anything a princess should wear to a royal wedding! Beatrice’s outfit was anything but elegant. Both girls looked much better in their evening frocks / ball gowns.

  99. Lushus L. says:

Beatrice’s hat(?) made her look like a Who from Whoville.;)

  100. skinanny says:

    What a great Halloween outfit!!!!

  101. Shy says:

Yeah, those two. I noticed them immediately. Knowing that they are royal since they were sitting pretty close. But so embarrassed for them. They do not belong there. They look like new Kardashian sisters.

  102. Andie says:

Unfortunately Bea and Eugenie looked terrible. Bea overdid it on the black eyeliner. I think she had a bit of a blub during the ceremony, and I saw one shot where she looked like Alice Cooper. Zara Phillips looked fabulous, as did Sam Cameron. It doesn’t matter if she didn’t wear a hat. Posh Spice looked like she fell into a hedge on the way there, and some of it clung to her head. As for the bride and her sister – absolutely stunning.

  103. ERM says:

    Beatrice looked like Medusa!

I just don’t understand how you can look at yourself in the mirror and think you look okay, how I ask?

  104. Az says:

Oh Eugenie. Helena Bonham-Carter is not supposed to be a fashion icon. Unless you’re Kelly Osbourne.

  105. poodlemom says:

I agree that both princesses looked better last night.

  106. Tucson says:

Oh dear God… just NO! Absolutely tragic! Just goes to show that money and titles do not equal class and or/taste

  107. mauibound says:

    Electric blue vagina…..

    Bwahahahahah!!!!!!!!!

  108. Mtn Girl says:

@LushusL – your comment cracked me up. Maybe Bea is channeling a Dr. Seuss character ala Tim Burton 😉

    http://jasentha.deviantart.com/art/Tim-Burton-character-style-185408886

  109. AnnieFleming says:

It looked more like it should be hanging on a wall, not her forehead.

  110. Philip Treacy should be beheaded for his simply atrocious creations as should the Duke and Duchess of Pork–namely their two porkers Beatrice and Eugenie. Oink Oink Oink

  111. hairball says:

I saw her get out of the car and walk inside the palace from the side and I was like ‘wtf..?’ I was like “why does she have antlers on her head???”

  112. Maggie says:

    Woof woof.

Were the hats meant to distract from the unhuman, exaggerated facial features those two have? It nearly worked, but nothing could make me stop staring at Beatrice especially.

Does she wear those creepy “big eye” contacts like Lady Gaga wore in “Bad Romance”? Because if not, she’s got the freakiest, most alien looking eyes I’ve ever seen. Her face scares the hell out of me. God help the man who ends up waking next to her for the rest of his life.

Seriously, who has eyeballs that big? Who??

  113. Katie says:

if bea got her top jaw pulled back she’d be quite striking with her aqualine nose and large eyes.Eugenie has a lovely face, but dresses really terribly, both do,both have very very bad taste.

  114. Lizz says:

    It wasn’t the first time..

That one is a lot better than this one:

    http://clothesandfashion.net/?attachment_id=177

  115. lalaland says:

Why is everyone hating on their hats? I thought it was funny. Lighten up people.

  116. teachem says:

This is a comment I have on my FB this morning…thought I’d share it here:

I am so convinced this was intentional. They’re notoriously tacky, but come on! Princesses must have style assistants to guide them away from such glaring Phyllis-Dilleresque faux-pas! Nope, they went to the milliner and said, “See here……we’ve chosen these outfits – an electric blue shower curtain with tie-downs and a sickly monochromatic flesh colored suit featuring circus clown neck spirals. Please design us each a matching headgear so odious…so utterly repugnant…that it will permanently mar that gorgeous lucky bitch’s wedding pictures. Chop chop.”

  117. The Bobster says:

Is Raccoon McFergie wearing an IUD on her head?

  118. Cletus says:

That tan one- it looks like she’s got a tapeworm crawling out of her head. I didn’t know that Intestinal Parasite was a “look”, but then again, I’m not in the loop.

See what I did there? You like that? HAHAHAHAHA! Worm Hat for the Win!

  119. Kitty_Cal says:

That thing on Beatrice’s head… It calls to me…

In all seriousness, I’ve always wondered about that girl. She’s got crazy eyes. I wonder if she’s as looney in person as her eyes and choice of head gear would suggest.

  120. Belle Epoch says:

I think the fug hats were intentional, also. Maybe they felt they were standing up for their mother, since she was not invited. Someone should have stopped them before it came to this. They probably thought they were having a lark, but it shows low character. They will look ridiculous and spiteful in wedding photos FOREVER.

They wasted a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to present themselves well.

  121. justathought says:

Just two smart Royal Rascals, they got the attention that they wanted by flaunting “absurdity” in our face! LOL!

  122. Jb says:

The worst!!!! They are totally the ugly step- sisters from Cinderella!

  123. Mudflow says:

The secret of Eugenie’s hemline. It’s not a skirt: It’s a tavern jacket tied around her waist. See? Now it makes sense.
Bea’s hat clearly started life as a house plaque; she just tore the numbers out of the middle.

  124. Solveig says:

The most tragic thing is that Beatrice’s dress is Valentino’s, Eugenie wore Westwood.
Do not understemate two girls who can make haute couture look this awful.

  125. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

    It’s England
    It’s a royal wedding
    They’re relatives
    They’re aristocracy

In their position, not wearing elaborate headpieces would’ve been like the bride not wearing white. This just seems like culture clash, and big hats are not even the top 400 of in the Garish List. I just saw an image of the bride’s sister, and if anything is tragic, it’s that Pippa looked far, far better than her sister (in my opinion).

It’s royal hats, this is what they do.

  126. Art produces ugly things which frequently become more beautiful with time. Fashion, on the other hand, produces beautiful things which always become ugly with time.

  127. Dirty Martini says:

You people all have it wrong. That hat is a feat of mindboggling proportions in the field of aerodynamic engineering. How the hell did the weight of that thing not topple her over?

  128. Sharon says:

Hey guys, they got attention…..that’s what it’s all about and they accomplished that royally….

  129. Katelyn says:

Really bad. Neither are bad looking young ladies, but they really missed the mark in the hats, dresses, and shoes. Were they trying or what?

  130. john says:

isnt it awful. 2 pretty girls reduced through wealth n a passion given innate and compelled through duress to look complete fools! either that or they were on K and Esssssssssssssssssssssssss

Sorry Princesses Beatrice & Eugenie, but you did rather let the side down. Didn’t you have any fashion advisors (or didn’t you look at yourselves in the mirror). You are both pretty girls and could have made a lot more of yourselves. Hate to say it but you did rather remind me of the 2 ugly sisters in Cinderella.
