She's always been very patronising of anything he says or does. And I also don't think he'll take anything from her, even though with no pre-nup, he is entitled to half her fortune. I think this is simply a case of the relationship not working. But I do agree that the adoption of baby David was a bad thing if they knew there was a chance of their marriage ending. This can also complicate things when it comes to "abuse", since they play a rough game in bed and want to be tied down, hurt, etc., but when it crosses a line it can be hard for the person to realize the pain is no longer consensual and they're now the victim of unwanted abuse. Not to mention if you get in a relationship with someone who is physically very dominant over you in bed, it can be hard for them to turn that off and not be physical during fights. It's very complex sexual dynamics, and pretty impossible to speculate on.
