Renee Zellweger went stag and wore her favorite designer, Carolina Herrera, to last night’s Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her nude dress looks potentially plain from far away, but it’s actually intricately beaded all over and features sheer beaded sleeves, a sweetheart neckline under sheer paneling, and wavy sheer panels in the skirt. It’s an amazing gown and fits her like a glove. I love the high leg slit and the silver accent jewels around the side and back. The low cut back is a bit much and I expected to see her ass crack at any moment, but overall it’s a killer dress.
Renee completed the look with nude Christian Louboutin heels, a simple clutch and a gold dome ring. The cut and color of Renee’s dress makes it similar to Gwyneth’s look that night, but the detailing and design flourishes push Renee’s gown over the top. I really love this dress on her. Her makeup was subtle and while her hair left something to be desired there isn’t much she can do with hair that short. At least she doesn’t have phony extensions like so many other women in Hollywood. Renee is working it, and she knows it.

I bet it looked gorgeous in person (some of the beauty of the fabric/color lost in photos), but am not a fan of the overexposed sinewy back look. I find that vaguely disturbing.

The lemon face in the last pic ruins what otherwise is her best look in years. Who else remembers how cute she was in Jerry Maguire?? Very sad indeed.

Gorgeous! It fits her her body and the detailing is lovely. This dress is everything that Goop’s wasn’t…fit and detail make the difference.

my first thought too was I bet it looks way better in person but because of the color does not show up well in photos.
I love this dress and do think it fits her very well. However, she has a seriously ugly back and she should not wear a dress that exposes it. It is actually scary to look at, in my opinion.

Not a big fan of the nude/beige/taupe look, particularly on a blonde (I mean really, ALL of her is beige. YAWN) but the cut of the dress is great on her. The modesty panel at the back is creeping me out a little. Perhaps just not have it so low?

I love the dress except for one thing. The neckline is too high. Even an inch lower would look better. Two inches and it would be fantastic. She does look great in it, though.
I like the side view best–the silhouette is nice.
But it just doesn’t photograph well–she looks totally monochromatic, from her kind of straw-colored hair to her shoes and purse. Dull.

Not underwhelming…understated…and she looks lovely and classy, except that V in the back is a bit too deep.
This is a great dress.
If you look at the 2 lower pix of her posing sideways, you can see the panel-insert, thus avoiding the dreaded “crack cleavage.”
You can also see at which point it “cuts” her, which is very unfortunate indeed.

I normally don’t like nude dresses but this one is killer. It covers up her shoulder gristle from the front, the jewel accents are perfect because ol’ Squinty doesn’t much like accessories so it’s better of they are built in. Her face seems to finally have settled and he hair is done (for her). And I covet those freaking shoes.

Beautiful dress. Would be prettier with a little more color in her skin but at least she’s not completely washed out. Her hair is hideous as usual. It is always underwhelming/messy in every photo I’ve ever seen of her.
Love the dress!.. just not on her. At least she’s covering up those manly arms but eek! Her face is so squished yet oddly gaunt and her neck looks like its never relaxed.. she just isn’t feminine and no dress can help that 🙁

RZ looks gorgeous. Very few woman on earth could wear that dress. She is very toned and fit. Her face looks pretty too.
You can read her face like a book – she’s so hung up over what people will think of her clothes, her hair, her weight, her body, her blah blah blah, that she can’t enjoy herself. Woman needs to let LOOSE.

I think she looks lovely. She needs to allow herself to gain about 3% body fat IMO. However, this is obviously how she likes to look. At least she is not skinny fat and slumpy like some other stars I could mention.
I like the dress, but I think it would have been better to have a more rounded cut in the back…rather than a spike towards her nether-region. Even if it’s cut really low. I think it’s the fact that the cut is rounded, and then it dramatically cuts through. It looks like it split and they sewed jewels around it to make it look like it was on purpose. Her back doesn’t look all that good in this.
She looks like Loretta Swit’s long lost daughter. Never a pretty face, more milk maidish or like she’s smelling cheese. While I admire her body in other clothes, her back looks freakish.
I have to confess, Renee is beginning to creep me out. Those poses and that rake thin body along with her slightly crazy behaviour. She was so super talented. I’d love her to pick up a burger and a good movie script and get back to being…well….Renee. I was thinking how superb it would be for her to be in Goree Girls (if that ever takes off) she’d fit it so well, being from texas and after how well she done in Chicago. Can we make this happen ?
