UGH, Taylor Swift. God, this chick. I know some of you like her and some of you want me to stop giving her a hard time, and Imma let you finish, but THIS CHICK BUGS. Of course she chose a pastel J. Mendel gown for the Met Gala. OF COURSE. Of course her gown looked like a fancy prom gown. Of course.
Although I will give Swifty some credit… the dress is slightly interesting. The skirt has layers that look unfinished, like parts of the train were hacked off in the limo. So… everything is not super-perfect and sparkle-pony middle school. I guess I can also applaud her for not doing her hair in her standard “big soft country waves” and actually attempting to work a strong red lip.
But the pastels must stop. They’re not even flattering on Swifty with her pale coloring! I would have loved to see this dress in a stronger color – a vivid blue or lavender would have been nice. But then where would Swifty be without her too-sweet ice cream colors?

I love the black webbing its edgy for her and at least there is a contrast in color…I would actually love this whole look if she didn’t have the red lips, couldn’t she wear another lipstick color one time?

I think she looks nice. I’m glad to see she didnt go for sparkles and all that crap she usually does. I do agree she needs to look into some different colors, though.

She’s taking baby steps in the right direction. Her hair and make up look good and the dress is a step up from her usual plain vanilla prom look. Definitely most improved.
This is a small step out of her very comfortable, fluffy pillow and blankey comfort zone. I’ll give her credit. I think she looks good.

Hate the dress from hips down (there, it looks like something Helena Bonham-Carter would go for), but aside form the color,I like the top detailing & asymmetry.
I want to like her for her actual talent, but I’m sick to death of her songs about how a boy should love her or a boy broke her heart or boys are icky or boys are princes. I want her to go away for like five years, grow up, get a little perspective and then maybe we can talk. Maybe.
So fake and so many suckered into her sweet poor victim status. Everyone hurts the poor sweet genuine good girl and she has to write songs to express her My Little Pony angst. UGH.
I’m in pain! I couldn’t even read the post Kaiser…and trust me, I am entertained by you all day long, and am ITA usually… just not here. I really think she’s genuine and not the typical hollywood brat. She’s more talented than most, and just bought her parents a million dollar mansion (while, eg, talentless Heidi can’t even deign to talk to her mom when she’s losing her home, just as comparison).
Let’s cut her some slack and not tear down one of the good ones.

Look, I think she’s probably a little immature, and spending her teenage years in front of the public undoubtedly did her no favors on that front. And god knows it is past time for her to chop off her hair, find something to wear that is not pink and or frilly… But she doesn’t make me hate her, honestly. And at least that dress does have some interesting structure going for it. But I do wish she’d do something dramatic to change up her style. Yawn.
I like the skirt but I can’t get behind the nude netting stuff over the shoulders. Makes me think of skating dresses, which makes me think of Tonya Harding, which makes me want to kill myself. So, no.
OH, the other thing that completely got me was when she wrote a song for her dad on her first album, basically about how she has the best day when she spends time with him. Who does that? No one!

I think part of the issue is that her makeup very rarely looks good. She’s not an especially beautiful woman, and sometimes the heavy makeup (especially the eyes) is just way to much for the features of her face

Swifty is quite the pose-hard isn’t she? At first I thought I would like the dress…then my computer caught up and I saw the bottom half of it. Reminds me of what Halle Berry wore to the Oscars. When good goes bad. I think her make-up looks nice.

The gown is beyond amazing. A little too pale for her. And I didn’t like her hair. That gown on someone of Spanish descent, darker skin, voluptuous, like Penelope Cruz, would be striking.

She looks beautiful although the bottom of that dress looks like it was shredded, you can tell its leaving threads behind, it sort of doesn’t go with the upper part. I think she is a sweet girl and very talented.

Looks like the designer got the order to make something for Taylor to wear. So they went to the workshop… grabbed all the random fabric off the floor, & sewed them together.
It doesn’t even look like clothing material, more like upholstery covering…

I think the entire look is beautiful: gown, hair, lips. Very vintage-y. She was probably my favorite from the entire gala.
