A curious chain of events happened this morning. I’ve known for a few days that Leonardo DiCaprio has been in Cannes, not to promote any film (that I know of), but simply to party and presumably to troll for new model ass. Then, curiously, this morning I saw some new photos of Leo’s ex-girlfriend Bar Refaeli at some event in Cannes. I’m sure she’s required to be there for one of her many modeling contracts, but it also gave me a whiff of ex-girlfriend stalker vibes. Bar has always seemed kind of stalker-ish to me. First, she Single White Female’d Gisele, Leo’s ex, and now she’s putting in the effort to stop by Cannes parties where she might run into the dude who (presumably) dumped her?
After I saw the photos of Bar, I then read this piece from Page Six, all about how Blake Lively is also in Cannes, even though she too has nothing to promote. Oh, and she’s attached to Leo’s hip now:
Leonardo DiCaprio appears to have already moved on from his split with Bar Refaeli — with “Gossip Girl” star Blake Lively. Just a week after we revealed that the star and the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model were over, DiCaprio and Lively were seen roaming around the Hotel du Cap Eden Roc on Friday night.
“She was wearing white and he was in a baseball cap,” our spy said. “They walked around the grounds together. It looked like they were a couple.”
A source said the two were introduced over dinner at The Lion by “Great Gatsby” director Baz Luhrmann in November. We reported in January that Lively was flirting with DiCaprio at “Hurt Locker” star Jeremy Renner’s birthday at his house in LA. DiCaprio’s rep said he doesn’t comment on his personal life. Lively’s rep didn’t return calls.

Now, when Bar and Leo’s split was formally announced, I folded in some news about how Leo and Blake were probably seeing out other. Blake has been trying to make this Leo thing happen for MONTHS. Could it be that Blake is kind of stalking Leo too? What is it about Leo that makes vapid model-types crazy? Anyway, it sounds like Leo is into it. Blake has the body of a model, so I suspect Blake is in the running to be Leo’s new girlfriend. Poor Bar!

I read somewhere that Blake was seen holding hands with her ex boyfriend Penn Badgeley at Coachella. So, some people thought they were back on. They may have been, but I think Blake would dump Penn again in a second if she thought she could trade up to DiCaprio.

I think Leo has a lot of appeal still. He is one of the few child actors who have transitioned into adult stardom. He is also a respected actor and now producer, who will be part of the lifelong A-list train. He is SMART. Have you ever seen interviews with this man? Wonderfully articulate, and he makes great choices when it comes to his career.
Now while he does not look like his ‘old’ self, do you honestly believe he wants to be the heartthrob still? Leo plays Hollywood so well, and I think it is amazing that he has such strong friendships that have lasted this long – because how often does that happen between actors, or anyone really, in Hollywood?
Now for women, he definitely has a type – just like everyone tends to have a type. While Blake fits his type physically, I don’t think you will see them together in the future. There have been so many rumours for so long, that it would have happened already if it was going to happen.

@ Bluhare – Lindsay WAS beautiful. I’ve seen a stunning Lindsay. However, if Blake looks like a coked out Lindsay when she’s sober, then you can be certain that the girl ain’t beautiful.
A gorgeous body? Sure. Am I jealous of her long legs? Of course. But I’m so not envying her mannish face. I can’t believe people have such strong opinions on Blake Lively… She has done so little to garner positive or negative attention, she’s just kind of there, existing, not doing much but not hurting anyone. Blake is promoting Channel in Cannes. She DOES have a reason to be there.
I think some of the negative reactions to Blake must be brought on by the fact shes blonde and her body looks like ALL THAT. She’s like the cheerleader/conventionally beautiful girl/ Real Life Barbie that everyone feels threatened by. Plus being Malibu Barbie comes with a bunch of negative stereotypes: dumb, slutty, etc.
Leo is totally grimy. I don’t see why he’s always scoring the most coveted roles in Hollywood, to me he is never suave or debonair. He has an aging babyface, a pouchy belly and soft body. Leo does have a great career. But, I can’t see Blake Lively throwing her self desperately at him and thinking that would work.
I think Leo is casually persuing Blake. They met, there was a potential to be co-workers, they flirted. Ultimately Baz Luhrman didn’t want to be threatened by a Blake-Leo hookup overshadowing his movie and/or wanted to have Leo all to himself. Leo ended things with Bar, and has since been making himself available to spend time with Blake.
I am amazed Leo doesn’t recognize how absolutely gorgeous, classy and genuine Kate Winslet is. He would be lucky to be with her, not just as a friend but as her love and life partner.
I think Blake is an upgrade.
First of all Bar doesn’t have any career as a model. She never worked for fashion, never hired by top brands never hired for runway, never been in Forbes’ models list. She had only 1 international cover (SI) and very few ones for local issues, which is less than many unknown models achieve in their career. She is representing only few local or mall brands. This is quite surprising since she gained a highly undeserved celebrity thanks to Leo. She tried hard to reach the A or B.list as a model, but she failed because she doesn’t have the necessary professional skills.
AND, every time she says something she comes out like a dumb, superficial, arrogant and ignorant chick.
This is a major problem for Leo, who spent 5 years of his life in such a brilliant company, because it speaks volumes about how smart he really is.
Okay, I appreciate Leo as an actor, and as a person, he seems smart and pretty humble. I don’t get his fucking taste in women, though. I hate when people have stereotypes, and the fact that he dates only models/model-look-alike means he’s shallow. I don’t deny that those chicks may have inner qualities, but he obvious didn’t have enough time to discover Blake’s. We can’t shit on people’s opinions, they don’t care anyways, but I think he could do way better. Lively is a fucking statue! Gosh, she’s a decorative butterface. Nothing would make me change my thoughts or my comment.

first comment on leo in a long, long time: i used to be infatuated with the boy he was, e.g Romeo and Juliet, Basketball Diaries… Titanic wasn’t so bad, either; he was incredibly fearless and intense, and then somewhere along the line, things went really, really wrong – he just started plateauing. and then there are these bimbo-types who seem to represent no intellectual challenge; they’re not even close to the kinds of women i imagined someone like him would want to be with. mostly, i am thinking now, i just know the characters he play; mostly, he’s just good at channelling intensity, and the appearance of depth and complexity, but there’s nothing more beyond that now. i think once upon a time there was, then the fame monster ate up half his brain and now he’s just famous for dating these bimbos and doing truly stupid things that show how out of touch with reality he is by trying to direct bonafide megastar directors, like Clint Eastwood.
