1983 Interview with 16 year-old Nicole Kidman

A 16 year-old Nicole Kidman appeared on Australian TV to promote the movie “BMX Bandits,” which she describes as a pre-teen BMX comedy movie. The clips from the film are the best. It’s so campy and 80s. Bike-riding kids fight exaggerated fist-waving bad guys that don’t move, and there’s an inexplicable chorus of helmeted teens that sing at the end of the clip. It’s like a Bollywood film without the production value.

Kidman looked much older than 16. Her hair is all frizzy and she’s wearing a weird printed shirt with a belt. Even as a teenager she had that grace and calm that helped make her a star.
