Last night was the big premiere for Super 8, the JJ Abrams-Steven Spielberg film that everyone (?) is talking about. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate that there’s someone in the industry who doesn’t feel like giving away the whole plot in the trailer, or letting the script leak early and all of that stuff. I like the idea of “event” film premieres, where there isn’t a long line of fashion girls trying to steal focus. But it’s also problematic, because I don’t have one huge celebrity to cover for fashion. But I do have Kate Capshaw, the wife of Steven Spielberg and “Where are they now?” actress. Now… I haven’t seen Kate Capshaw in a while. Maybe I just wasn’t paying attention, and she’s been aging naturally all along and it just startled me today. And I do think that some of what’s happening with Capshaw’s face can be explained with traditional aging, and for that, good for her. But it looks like she had a really bad facelift several years ago and she’s trying to “let it out,” right? She just looks odd to me. Like… budget, facelift-y Kim Basinger.
Here are two of the stars of the film, Kyle Chandler and Elle Fanning. Kyle looks nice, but considering it’s “his” film, he could be dressier, IMO. And I think Elle looks completely appropriate for a 13 year old. Very cute. And tall!

And here’s JJ Abrams’ friend, Tom Cruise. Tom is friends with Spielberg too. It’s nice that he’s showing up for friends, but part of me thinks he’s just aiming to get some work. Tom looks nice though – I like his hair.

aw, elle is so cute! her dress is a little “Disney-princess”, but she’s young enough that it looks very pretty on her.
Capshaw looks like she’s pulled too tightly. Holloway looks better with long hair.

When I was younger and still straight (?), I thought Kate Capshaw was a real beauty. Now, she looks like a standard west coast victim of plastic surgery.
Ladies, take care of what you’ve got and stay away from the knife!! A jacked face fools no one. The hands will always give you away.

Elle Fanning is really pretty, I hope she doesn’t get bitten by the famewhore bug (that has atacked Chloe Moretz, nowadays posing like she’s trying to look sexy, with her mouth open, Paris Hilton style).
And Tom Cruise…I suppose I could say he looks normal here, but no matter what he does now, I always think about that scientology crap.

Something looks weird about Tom Cruise. When I saw him I thought “Hey that guy looks a little like Tom Cruise”. Something is off if, when people see you, they think you sorta look a little like you.

Once upon a time, had Cruise shown up for any red carpet, he would have owned it. No matter whose film it was. No one else would have mattered.
Now everyone knows he is crazy and belongs to a cult. So no one really wants to get close to him.
He is so desperate to be the movie star again.
I can’t believe he has not ditched the cult to have the fame again.
Cause lord knows if he did remove himself from that Cult. He would dominate again.

Why have you heard from Capshaw in awhile Kaiser. When she married Spielberg being his wife became her job. I remember watching a program about celebrity divorces and how Amy Irving walked away with 100 million in the divorce settlement (insane that he was worth that much early in career) and Capshaw was a contribution to Amy going after his balls. I remember a quote an insider gave to someone on the show about Capshaw wanting to continue her career and Spielberg said, ‘I am your career.’

I think Kates work looks better than most in Hollywood. She didnt go for the Kim K full face lift and it looks more natural than most work in Hollywood.

There are too many 60 year olds who are trying to look like 30 year olds.
I realize aging sucks. But I don’t moan every wrinkle or stretch mark that reminds me that I’m not the 20 year old who could party with actors and rockstars anymore. Life changes.
My mother is 65 and looks every year of it. But she lived a great life and has some truly wild stories. I hold her wrinkly ass face up as beauty over every woman with a botched up facelift or botox. (I will admit that this has been building for awhile and is maybe not just against Kate, but from Kim Kardashian on.)

I saw this movie at a screening on Mon. GREAT MOVIE, seriously. It’s reminiscent of Stand By Me/ Goonies mixed with a (not over the top) monster movie. The acting is stellar. Be sure to stay for the credits for the kids’ movie! I saw an interview in the LA Times that said the kids actually DID make that movie themselves!

Never cared for Kate Capshaw, but I think she looks fine…she’s had some work, but doesn’t look too over the top…and I can’t stand Tom Cruise, but he seriously look fab for his age, he dosen’t have a wrinkle and he doesn’t look like he’s had any work (if he has, its a great job…I’ve always said he sucks the life out of his wives, either that or that scientology has a super secret fountain of youth…

I think Capshaw looks pretty damn fine for a 60 year old woman but Cruise looks like the Poison Dwarf with an obvious dye job. He would most certainly have George Clooneyesque grey hair by now.
