Tori Spelling crashes her car while attempting to evade a paparazzo

This story is either quite frightening, very odd, or both, depending on how you look at it. It seems that the heavily pregnant Tori Spelling was driving with both of her children along for the ride when she grew rather upset at a paparazzo who was trailing her vehicle. Apparently, the chase gained speed just as Tori approached her children’s school, and a significant accident was had with Tori’s vehicle doing some major damage to the school building in the process. Don’t worry though — by some small miracle, nobody received any physical injuries:

Tori Spelling and her children were involved in a major fender-bender on Monday.

“Paparazzi [sic] chased me with the kids to school,” the Oxygen reality star tweeted. “I was trying to get away from him and had a pretty big accident.”

“I took down whole wall of school. He then still got out to try to get pics. Ten school moms chased him away,” she added. “What will it take? Someone dying for paparazzi to stop? Going to doctor now to check on the baby. I think it’s just shock.”

Spelling’s rep tells Us Weekly, “She is really shaken up over the accident but Tori and the kids are fine.”

Spelling, 38, and husband Dean McDermott, 44, have two children together: Stella, 2, and Liam, 4. Their third baby is due this October. “We’re not going to find out [the sex of our baby],” the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum told Us at Simon G. Jewelry’s annual Summer Soiree in Las Vegas on Saturday. “We have one of each, so it will be a traditional surprise on the day.”

Thankfully, neither Tori nor her children (nor anyone else’s children) got hurt in this incident, but I have to wonder exactly how fast she was going to take out a whole wall of her child’s school. Because when one chooses the life of a reality star, then one should be well used to having one’s picture taken by the paparazzi, since there are literally thousands of “candid” shots of Tori and her family out there already. So why did this particular photographer annoy Tori so much that she felt the need to go speeding through a school parking lot and, in the process, put many lives at risk? It just doesn’t make sense. Unless, of course, we consider the fact that pregnancy hormones can fuel relatively small problems until, instantaneously, they turn into huge catastrophes.

She looks better in these pictures than I’ve ever seen her! More natural and healthy. Maybe in Tori’s case, less make-up is a much better look for her.

  2. brin says:

Where was Dean, he’s usually with her…maybe he should drive.

  3. courtney says:

that is what paparrazzi do so it’s no big news.

  4. neelyo says:

I’m shocked a photographer was following her.

  5. lucy2 says:

The paparazzi have to stop this kind of nonsense. But I don’t get the idea of speeding away to escape them, especially with kids in the car. These celebs would be better off calling the police, telling them they’re being followed, and driving to the police station. Thank goodness no one was hurt.

  6. Quest says:

Paps are always causing these kinds of drama…I think they can get a little to close for comfort or safety. Sadly, most celebs go through this.

On another note: are the kids wearing their PJs?

  7. tracking says:

Since she seems to live for having her photo taken, I too find the story a little odd. But good insight about the pregnancy hormones:-). And thankfully neither she, the baby, nor innocent bystander was injured.

  8. gee says:

She looks so good with this weight on her and the light makeup. She should rock this look daily.

  9. constance says:

I’m glad no one got hurt. I hope she pays to repair the school. She has lived as a semi-famous person since she was born. She is also very known as tipping off her own Paps. With kids in the car and a baby in your belly, there is no excuse to drive like a reckless drunk- Paps or not. Your family and the safety of other children should be paramount.

  10. Samigirl says:

This is scary! At least nobody got hurt. Oh! And my son has the same pirate jamma jammas as her son! Except in blue instead of grey 🙂

  11. Dorothy#1 says:

Yeah, I don’t believe she was trying to get AWAY from the Paps. LOL Glad no one was hurt.

  12. tapioca says:

Oh no, Tori! A paparazzo was trying to take a picture of you in your car, so you chose to put others’ lives at risk? You, a “celeb” who’s gone out of her way to live in the limelight, and who has wh*red out every aspect of her life to the media in a cr@ppy reality show, on Twitter and in a series of tabloid photo shoots featuring your children? There is NO excuse for inattentiveness/speeding outside a school whilst at the wheel of a potential death trap – use some of that Oxygen money to get a damn driver!

  13. Anne de Vries says:

Just because they were ‘following her’ doesn’t mean they weren’t driving like maniacs, trying to cut her off, crawling into her boot, or doing any number of other insane things in trying to get a reaction out of her for a good photo.

Just saying. I doubt they were sedately and at a polite distance following her car to the school.

  14. Quest says:

@Samigirl: pirate jamma jammas ….just loving it.

  15. Julia says:

What the…she’s PREGNANT. And with her CHILDREN. This has got to stop. She’s right: someone is going to get killed. And all for a photograph of someone taking their kids to school?!

  16. TXCinderella says:

She’s one of the few people that actually looks better pregnant than not. She looks filled out and healthy. I wish she would ditch the scary skinny look.

  17. Fuzzy Cat says:

Wow, she looks beautiful without makeup and @constance well said!

  18. Bonfire Beach says:

From what I understand reading about this accident elsewhere, she wasn’t speeding through the school parking lot. I think the accident happened while she was backing up. She hit the wall with the back of her car. The papparazzo may have blocked her in.

I’m not a fan of hers but I doubt she would deliberately place her children & unborn child in danger by driving like a maniac – near a school no less.

  19. Tara says:

In this case I suspect the truth is she sucks at driving. Speeding while in a car with your kids (born and unborn) is just plain stupid. The paps following you is no excuse because celebs LIVE to be photographed do they not? And who tweets about it before they even get the word from the doctor that everything is okay??

But yes, Tori is looking radiant and healthy in these pics. But she shouldn’t let the kids go to school in their jammies!

  20. azurea says:

“Someone’s going to be killed!” Um, someone WAS killed….Princess Diana, anyone?

  21. djork says:

And then she tweets about it, engendering more attention. Idiot.

  22. Sue says:

SHE TWEETED ABOUT THE ACCIDENT BEFORE GOING TO THE HOSPITAL.

I can understand calling a friend, calling a relative, calling your spouse because you are shook-up and upset. That is natural.. but tweeting about it to the world before going to the hospital.. Was she trying to beat the paparazzo at announcing the news?

while I think the paparazzi are partially at fault, Tori had to have hit that wall really hard to take down half of it so she had to be driving fast for that to happen, and she could pull over to call the police instead of putting herself and her kids as well as other kids at risk.

  23. WOM says:

TMZ has photos. It was a concrete retaining wall. Less than a meter tall. If she has sensationalized that detail — can we trust her not to embellish other bits?

  24. Melinda says:

Didn’t something similar happen to Nicole Richie too?

  25. the original bellaluna says:

@ Azurea – THANK YOU! When I first read about her twit, I thought “Someone already has, you dolt!”

The paps have caused numerous accidents in the LA area by chasing “celebs” and some “celebs” have the presence of mind to call 911 and report it, while others just crash. *I’m lookin’ at you, Linnocent* Sometimes repeatedly. *side eye to Linnocent*

I don’t care who is following me: if my kid is in the car, traffic laws will be obeyed. I’ve driven to the police station before, because I had an “admirer” follow me home in the a.m. after my night shift.

And I never EVER speed in a school zone. I remember thinking how even a vehicle driving at 25 MPH could do phenomenal damage to a little grade-school body; an adventurous middle-schooler’s body; an “invincible” high-schooler’s body. I couldn’t live with myself (as a mother and a person) if I hit a child.

  26. original kate says:

since when does this famewhore ever avoid paparazzi? more likely she was texting while driving.

  27. Ruffian9 says:

As a few folks here have already noted…it must have been very serious, as the first thing this poor victim of the paps does following an accident is to TWEET ABOUT IT. Yes, Tori, that’s the most important thing to do when you take out a retaining wall. Princess Diana should never be mentionesd in the same breath as this idiot.
