Emma Watson is the cover girl for the August issue of Seventeen. In the cover shot, some brilliant makeup/hair person worked magic on Emma’s too-intense eyebrows, and now I feel like I’m actually looking at her little elf face without being attacked by BROWS. I guess Emma is on the cover because of Harry Potter, right? Sure. The interview is nice enough – she’s not going on and on about how hard it is being so famous and so beautiful, and she mostly sounds like a young woman who is still figuring junk out. Here are some highlights:
Emma on relationships and whether she’s a good “game player”: “No! I’m a terrible game player. I’m so impatient – it’s one of my worst traits! If I want to see someone, I want to see them, and if I don’t, then I don’t. My friends are always telling me I have to play hard to get because I’ll pretty much say to a guy, “I like you – let’s go hang out.” But my friends are like, “You can’t do that! You have to string this guy along.” And I’m just like, “No! I won’t! I just want to go on the date! It’s a nightmare – I definitely haven’t figured it out yet.”
On which Harry Potter costar she had a crush on: “For the first two movies, I had a huge crush on Tom Felton. He was my first crush. He totally knows. We talked about it – we still laugh about it. We are really good friends now, and that’s cool.”
Celebrity crushes: “I’ve never understood having crushes on people who you don’t know in real life. I only crush on people I meet. I mean, I can appreciate that someone is good-looking, obviously, but I don’t intend to fantasize about people I don’t know!”
Avoiding the color black, style-wise: “I try to avoid wearing black because sometimes it’s the easy option. But I’m young, so it’s nice to be able to play with color and not just wear black all the time. I can save that for when I’m older.”
Exercise: “I dance a lot and I run and do yoga and play field hockey and tennis. I like to be active. I don’t always have time for that stuff, but I do always feel better afterward.”
Friends for life: “I still have friends from primary school. And my two best girlfriends are from secondary school. I don’t have to explain anything to them. I don’t have to apologize for anything. They know. There’s no judgment in any way.”
Studying abroad…? “Most of my friends are doing their third year abroad so I might do my third year abroad as well, and then come back for my last year. I hope I could do that.”

Tom Felton? He’s “Draco” right? He’s kind of white-blonde and sweet, but bland? Out of all of the dudes she’s worked with, she got the hots for him?!? Weird. Meanwhile, I’m nursing two completely inappropriate crushes on both Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Pattinson, both of whom seem way more interesting and sexy to me. But Emma is young – soon enough, she’ll discover that the occasional bad boy is good for the soul. I pray that she’s not around Gerard Butler when that happens. Ew… I just grossed myself out with the thought of Emma being Butler’d. Nasty.
By the way, are you Potter-heads excited about the last movie? I’m not into the series, and I think CB stopped after a few books/movies, so our coverage of it has been less than breathless. My apologies. Here’s a trailer for it. It made me goosebumpy and I don’t even know what’s happening. (Mostly it’s just because Ralph Fiennes makes me goosebumpy.)

Kaiser, I totally have the hots for Draco. I don’t know where you get sweet from, though. He’s a serious bad boy until like the fourth book. And Tom Felton played the character pretty damn well. Although I’d hit DanRad before TFelt.

The books start out light, but get darker and more grown up as each book came out. The last book has several deaths in it and if the movie stays true to the last book, we may even see a glimpse of Harry’s bum.

Unless it’s out and I’ve been under a rock, she’s playing the lead in ‘The House Next Door’ or something like that which is a novel based on the horrific story of Sylvia Likens. Kudos to her for taking on such a role, a very difficult part and she obviously had the fortitude to do it.

My prediction re: Brown-definitely out the window for Emma. I am really disappointed Emma seems to be choosing the intellectual lightweight route.
Say what you want about Natalie Portman, she worked her butt off to get her degree and to still stay relevant in her career (w/ summer acting jobs). She earned a BA in Psychology from Harvard; she was Alan Dershowitz’s research assistant-very impressive.
I think Emma might want to stop and reflect on Natalie’s path while she still can change gears. To paraphrase Natalie, it IS possible to be educated and a movie star. Emma is more than capable, but it takes a great deal of will and hard work to accomplish what Natalie did. I fear that Emma has been snatched up by the Hollywood death eaters already.

Felton’s better looking with his natural dirty blonde locks. he does have a reputation of being a nice guy and down to earth.
As for Radcliffe, there’s something about his personality that makes me understand why someone would crush on him. That being said, there’s something about his looks that remind me of a young Phil Collins

Did everyone forget that she was between the ages of 10-12 when they filmed the first 2 Potter’s. Her crush seems totally reasonable given that info. Little girl’s that age don’t care about “interesting” at that age…they care about “cute”.

She never understood crushes? Umm she was huge on Brad Pitt and recently said sean connery and denied she ever had a crush on brad pitt. As for her friends, did she not say last interview she doesn’t know why X wont call her and her friends told her it was because of the fame wall but now her friends are telling her to play hard to get? Basically in this interview she is saying she is easy. Maybe that’s why she is a wanton woman. Why is it in every interview its something different? @dani – Emma was in Pittsburgh shooting “the perks of being a wallflower” which she just wrapped this week for the past 6 weeks.
There was no way she was in Cancun last week. To many extras worked with her on set to vouch for her being in Pittsburgh. I was one of them.

I can get this crush. I remember having a crush on him too back in the day, although I spent more time swinging between Rickman and just about every single Weasley boy (except Percy, he’s simply not very handsome to me).
Everyone fantasizes a bit about those unattainable fellows, so I find her comments about that hard to believe. I even have an intense plan should the time ever come to seduce my German forever dong and run away with him forever and I consider myself incredibly sensible.

I had (well have) the biggest crush on Draco.. Tom Felton, as much as it makes sense to have a crush on him, I never seemed to be that attracted to him, only when he was on screen being my beloved Draco. I think it was the smirk eyebrow raising platinum blonde hair combo that did it for me. Yay for fictional characters!

Tom Felton is my ultimate celeb crush, I just find him beyond beautiful, his eyes and bone structure are incredible, and his hands are beautiful. And his accent is perfection; perhaps only fellow brits will get that one? And that isn’t even counting his awesome personality, he just is so damn endearing, has a great dry sense of humour, and is sometimes shockingly witty. I have to admit I’ve got it pretty bad for that one! AND, he has such a soft spot for sexy brunettes; always a plus. So no, I don’t agree he is bland at all. But then, I never find the cookie cutter, predictably ‘hot’ kind of guys you see in Hot Guy Friday posts all that attractive, myself. Different strokes, I guess!
ETA: As for Draco, the character, he is such a worm! Never got all the fan-girling over his character, myself; I always assumed it was just the Tom appeal blending over??

I’m glad to see I am not the only one (who is not a kid lol) who is SUPER-EXCITED for the final installment of HP. I’m thinking about calling out sick from work that day so I can see it (although hubby would be pissed if I saw it first without him) The books and movies evolved so much over the years.
Actually, I have mixed emotions over this last film…I am excited to see it because it looks AWESOME but I don’t want it to be over!
