Heidi Klum gushes about Seal: “He’s even hot when he’s sleeping”

klumglamour3

Despite the near-extinction of the supermodel as an entity, Heidi Klum has still managed to endure for nearly two decades on fashion runways and magazine covers. Nowadays, she’s a household name due to her “Project Runway” gig, and she covers the August issue of Glamour magazine to promote the show’s newest season. As always, the slight vapid aura of Heidi’s words nearly evaporates due to her extremely candid nature, so it’s easy to forgive her admission that she’s a terrible reader. In her defense, she’s probably a lot stronger at reading in her native German language. Or at least, one would hope. Anyway, it’s easy to love Heidi Klum even though she never stops gushing about her wonderful life and exceptionally perfect marriage to Seal.

On how much longer “Project Runway” will last: I’m going to be 80, walking with a stick down the runway.

On her greatest weaknesses: There are many things! I’m bad at baking. I’m bad at letting go of things. I’m probably bad at reading . . . Sometimes I’m like, “What is this word?” And I start stuttering, and Leni [Klum’s oldest daughter] is like, “Mommy, you don’t know what that means?” And I’m like, “No, do you know what this means?” And she says, “No, but you should know. You’re the mommy.”

On her favorite outfit: Hmm, maybe my pajamas? I have a whole army of pajamas. [Seal] loves pajamas! He’s very English, so he loves pajamas and slippers…. We start off wearing the pajamas, and sometimes they come off!

On the best piece of lingerie: There’s nothing wrong with a nice garter belt. I’m not saying you have to put a pole up in your bedroom and start swinging off the rafters. But I love that sometimes! My husband and I just had a “sexy week” in London. I’d put on a super-short skirt with a garter belt on underneath so that when I’d sit, he could see it. It’s fun to sauce it up a little bit.

On why she and Seal renew their vows annually: [M]y husband and I had a great time at our wedding. And I said to him, “It’s too bad that when we’re 90, we’ll have only this one time to look back on. So we should do this every year!”

On whether or not she’d change Seal: No. I learned [not to try] from my previous marriage–I was married for six years [to hairstylist Ric Pipino]. Seal is a very strong person, and so am I, and we let each other live our lives.

On when she finds Seal hot: Always. He’s even hot when he’s sleeping. He’s a beautiful man. He’s kind, he’s a gentleman, and I watched him last night onstage, and he still rocks it. I’m like, “Yeah, that’s my man!”

[From Glamour]

So do you think that Heidi and Seal will last forever, or is their public image as a very close couple just that? While I obviously would hope that any couple with four children will make the long haul together, there’s just something about the fact that they shove their happiness down our collective throats that makes me think that their public image might not be entirely genuine. Still, they have to last, right? Otherwise, Halloween would never be the same.

I think that’s just the way Heidi talks. She seems really…direct (maybe slightly dumb appearing) whenever asked about just anything. So when they ask about her marriage she gets very lovey dovey about it. I like it though! They don’t seem to take each other for granted.
And that thing about her daughter is just the cutest!

  2. WhiteNoise says:

I really think they’re the real deal. She does go on about it a bit but I do think it’s because she/they are so genuinely happy together. They always look so effortless and contented, like they just can’t get enough of each other. I love them. 🙂

(Need to go bitch about someone now after that pile of pre-lunch soppiness. Off to Goopy’s thread with me.)

  3. Theuth says:

She and Seal seems like a very strong couple who loves each other without restriction…I suppose that after her affaire with Briatore (her first child’s father) she really looked for a different man whom she thought couldn’t exist, but she found him and it still seems incredible for her (argh, too complicated to explain in English!).

  4. Ruby says:

I think they are adorable. Two people who have found each other with beautiful children they are blessed. I got nothing bad to say. Sometimes you gotta wish people the best. 🙂

  5. Franny says:

while that cover doesn’t do her justice (whats up glamour? this is like the third cover in a row where your covergirl doesn’t look normal), I just think she is so so beautiful.

then again, i may be biased because i’m german.

  6. nnn says:

They are soulmates. ! Great for them.
And yes, for all accounts, and from most of his exes (Tyra included), Seal is a real gentleman and a strong man.

  7. the original bellaluna says:

I’m almost certain their love for one another is deep. However, speaking as a wife who also loves her husband deeply, sometimes I’d like to bash him over the head with my wrought iron pan. The big one.

  8. Sloane Wyatt says:

Heidi seems sweet but kinda vacant, so I’m not surprised girlfriend can’t read.

But who cares, right? Models start at 11 to 13, tarted up because “sex sells”, and are only valued as a human hanger.

She reminds me of Kendra, cheerfully laughing all the way to the bank, and seeing no need for book learnin’.

Heidi is so vanilla white bread, not much substance there – meh.

  9. Anne de Vries says:

I think they’re adorably married. I hope – and think – it’s genuine. They always seem to have so much fun together, it’s hard to fake that.

  10. WhiteNoise says:

@Theuth – You explained perfectly, that’s exactly how she comes across! It’s like she’s permanently awed by her good fortune in finding such a great guy and has to constantly pinch herself to make sure it’s real!

  11. Maddox says:

I read somewhere that when they go shopping, they go into the dressing room together to try on clothes, that’s hot. I’m a hopeless romantic even though I know better so, I’m rooting for them.

  12. jesikabelcher says:

    Blah Blah Blah.

  13. DanDan says:

They seem like such a great couple. I hope their marriage work out!! 🙂

  14. Jana says:

I love Heidi. She’s a driven businesswoman here and in Germany and yet she’s not afraid to show her ditziness. That’s a confident woman.

As far as Seal, I was impressed in an interview I read by him. He used to date for years another famous supermodel from Germany, but I guess that ended a while before Heidi. He was asked whether there was only one soulmate in the world for you, and he said he didn’t believe that. But that when he met Heidi he knew he would regret letting her go. He said men shouldn’t really marry before 40 (for the most part), that they’re not great husbands. They are still sowing their wild oats, focusing on their career, and selfish pursuits. That at 40 they are less selfish and ready to be a great husband and father. I think Seal is a very thoughtful man and clearly respects and loves his wife as she does him. Respect goes a long way in keeping a marriage happy and still hot for each other. If you have a spouse belittling you, it kills the romance. I think they’re very proud of each other.

I proposed this question to two men I work with who married at 27, and they agreed with him. Both said they wished they had waited to get married in their mid thirties or later. Interesting.

  15. TQB says:

I need them to be the real deal. Two people that hot who can’t keep their hands off each other – it gives me faith in the universe.

Her candor is what’s kept her famous for so long. She gets tons of attention for talking about how hot her husband is, so she keeps doing it. That doesn’t mean it’s fake, she’s just an incredible gifted self-promoter.

  16. Theuth says:

@WhiteNoise: Exactly! I suppose that after she got pregnant with that womanizer (such a sleazy man, disgusting…) she was completely disilluded about family, love and loyality, then to met a man like Seal, who seems perfect under every front, so sweet and incredibile respectful who loves her and all the children she gave him (biological father or not)…such a lucky woman. Jana is right, as you can read in her comment, he seems like a very mature man who knows how a real and long relationship needs to work.

  17. ladybert62 says:

They both seem to love each other! And for having several children, she looks outstanding. Although for being a super model, she does wear the strangest clothes when she is not being a model.

  18. Tiffany says:

I think they are just totally happy together. Why can’t a happy couple act that way? My husband and I do, 22 years and we still do.
Should they pretend to not be so loved up? I can see giving the side-eye to Jen and Justin, they just started, but Heidi and Seal?
Go for it, may it stay hot and passionate for life.

  19. bluhare says:

@theuth: If English isn’t your first language, you must be Theuth Shakespeare in your mother tongue! Thatwas very well put.

Seal was forever in my “aaawwwwwww” category when I read he met her when she was pregnant with Leni, might have been at her birth (I dont’ know about that) and then pretty much adopted her right away, and always said that she was HIS daughter from day one. I melted dead away.

And I bet he also will pay for her therapy bills later when she realizes what an asshole her sire (can’t call him a dad) is.

  20. RHONYC says:

listen the guy stayed with her & put a ring on it:

#1. after falling in love with her

#2. AFTER finding out she was KNOCKED UP with the last dude’s baby, plus vowing to raise her as his own.

it’s as clear as a ‘Kiss from a Rose’ lol, they are forever.

    case dismissed. 😉

  21. Katie says:

They are a couple that I would be sad to see break up. They just seem so in love. And neither of them are actors so I guess maybe that increases my hope that it’s real! Plus they have so many kids together.

Also, I want that shirt she’s wearing on the magazine cover.

  22. Rita says:

    @bellaluna

“wrought iron pan”. Yep, your marriage is the real deal.

I think Seal and Heidi are strong and healthy. The peak of their careers are behind them so the pressure of needing celebrity is not as likely to pull them away from each other. Seems they have a good balance.

  23. jay says:

Heidi’s life is what Gywnnie thinks hers is.

I get the “real” vibe from them and I like that she and he are forthright; it’s refreshing. And they have adorable children, who seem to have a lot of love in their lives.

And damn, Gina, she looks great.

  24. Julie says:

I buy their connection as real far more than Brad and Angelina.

  25. Eve says:

They seem to be genuinely in love with each other.

She strikes me as an easy going and straight forward person. I like that.

  26. Marna says:

I know one of their employees and he says it makes it hard for him to find a relationship because their love for each other is SO amazing and so honest and real. That made me SO happy when he told me that. (even though I had the hots for him and could never live up to Heidi Klum, LOL.) They’re not perfect but they are committed and realistic and in lurrrrrve.

  27. really says:

She so loves her chocolate daddy! Good for her……….. she is beautiful! Viva la Deutschland!

  28. Erin says:

I find Heidi Klum annoying for some reason…she just really grates me how she keeps going ON and ON with how great her marriage is. The more accurate description of a real marriage and real love is Bellaluna’s! My husband is my everything but he can really frustrate the crap out of me!

  29. DeeVine says:

@Erin: yes she annoys the crap out of me too. I’m so perfect blah blah blah. As Kunty Karl said “Heidi who?”
