Last night, in New York, Wendi Murdoch (above) hosted a screening of a film she has produced called Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. It’s a film about two women in 19th century China, and it actually seems like it will be an interesting movie. If you don’t know by now, Wendi Murdoch is the current wife of Rupert Murdoch. Rupert very publicly dumped his second wife, Anna, and took up with Wendi. Anna got a divorce settlement rumored to be in the BILLIONS of dollars, which always made me think that Wendi must really be quite a woman, if Rupert was prepared to give away so many of his assets to marry her. Anyway, Rupert is in the center of one of the biggest scandals to ever hit the UK (and we’re importing it in America too), so it’s very interesting to me that Wendi called all of her celebrity friends and they all came running to support her film.
… Like Nicole Kidman, who is reportedly the godmother to Rupert and Wendi’s two daughters, Chloe and Grace. Nicole’s dress is Elie Saab, and that’s quite a lot of red, isn’t it? Red hair, red dress, red lips. I kind of like it, though! And Nicole has officially gained some “happiness and I don’t care anymore” weight. And it looks AMAZING on her. Chica’s got back.
Courtney Love in whatever (I can’t find who made the dress). I feel like her nipples are two seconds away from assaulting me. That being said, the face looks pretty decent. Must be the chanting.
Olivia Munn in an ill-fitting Walmart dress. How budget does she look? Even C-Love looks more pulled together.
Ivanka Trump looks GREAT. She looks really healthy and beautiful. Love this dress on her too.

Regarding Murdoch’s recent Wife – I think it was established at the time that she was a gateway for him to access Chinese Media……
I think Nicole looks lovely. The frills on her dress give her some hips. And as for Courtney. She’s looking better than usual.

To be quite honest, I don’t like “i don’t care anymore weight” on Nicole. She isn’t fat, but women of her height can look rather…big… with even a tiny bit of weight. Ivanka does look great!

Kaiser, it’s Snow Flower & the Secret Fan by Lisa See. My mom’s book club absolutely loved this book. They can’t wait to see the movie.

Nicole looks ‘big’ with her extra weight? I can’t even think of a witty, cutting retort to that comment, it bugs me so much. I guess attitudes like yours go a long way to explain why so many women have such a distorted body image. She looks healthy and beautiful and in no way ‘big’.

I was just watching practical magic last night and thinking how good nicole used to look compared to now but those pictures she’s actually looking hot again!
I would have a hard time not just grabbing the top of Courtney’s dress and tugging UP. Just because it looks like it’s falling down, and the way she’s standing with her shoulders kind of hunched she’s like “Will you guys take your damn picture so I can go to the bathroom and pull up my dress?”
Kidman’s definitely gone down in my estimation for attending this – just shows how celebrities will whore themselves to anyone for the right amount of money, rather than for the right person or cause.
And I would lay money that hot mess on Courtney Love is Vivienne Westwood. I so wish Vivienne Westwood would have more control over who wears her dresses – stick Nigella in one and she looks incredible – as this is not good!
Nicole looks amazing, but in no way does she look ‘big’ – and commenting on how she’s gained “happiness and I don’t care anymore” weight is ridiculous (and offensive) with someone her size. That’s the sort of thing you say about someone who’s overweight and she has a LONG way to go before she gets there! “Chica’s got back”? I know you meant it as a compliment but I bet if she read that she’d stop eating for a week.
Courtney looks great but that’s way more of her boobs than I ever want to see.

It is one of the biggest satellite TV networks in Asia. But to answer your question – I don’t know, I guess even he can’t influence the Chinese government.

Wendi Murdoch has an interesting resume. The woman is smart, ruthless, and I can see easily taking the media mogul crown away from Murdoch. She knows how to use men to get what she needs to get to where she’s going. She set up his Chinese network.

@Vickyb – I think Nic has sold herself for a lot more. I think Lainey and maybe on this site too suggested that Murdock kept a lot of info out of the press regarding her husband and possibly helped her get away from and or overcome her divorce from that creature she was married to.
