Could the Beckhams be headed in separate directions?

David and Victoria Beckam are in the news often, for his body, her fashion sense, his career, her attempts at one, his body, their house being robbed, his body, their cute kids, did I mention his body? But you don’t hear rumors of a break-up with them very often, they seem to have a remarkably strong and loving marriage.

But how much of that is based on what one brings to the other? The couple each have their own merits for celebrity, but they are made more by their association to the other, so the thought of dividing their collaborative assets seems like not only a shame as a family, but a disaster as a brand.

The celebrity couple – who moved to America last year after David signed a multi-million pound deal with soccer team Los Angeles Galaxy – are said to be spending increasing amounts of time apart as they pursue their own interests.

David, 33, is reportedly desperate to return to European soccer, while Victoria, 34, is determined to increase her profile by staying in the US.

A source told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: “David has to move back to Europe if he wants to continue to play international football. Victoria still believes they can make it big in America, but she fears a move back to Europe could kill off their Hollywood future for ever.”

It has been claimed David’s proposed loan deal with a Spanish or Italian team this winter could be “the straw which break’s the camel’s back”.

Victoria has seen an international surge in her celebrity since moving to the US and she revels in it, donning controversial clothing, and shoes especially, usually while shopping. I bet she’s kicking herself that Madonna debuted those Miami Vice trigger-happy heels last week. She doesn’t want to give that up, for anything. So now, she’s faced with quite the kerfuffle in choices, because David is reportedly signing a loan agreement with Italy.

Swopping the downbeat Home depot Centre in Carson City for the football temple of the San Siro – or in Victoria’s case, the boutiques of Rodeo Drive for the supremely elegant Galleria di Vittorio Emanuele – David Beckham looks set to spend around two months of next year playing football on loan to AC Milan.

For both Beckhams the unexpected move next January will be a match made in heaven – Milan is a city whose designer-clad denizens are mad about both football and fashion.

Both sides said today the deal was still not finalised, but the aim was that Beckam would join in January for two month loan.

He will need to return to the United States for their new soccer season in April.

The planned deal was disclosed by Adriano Galliani, the aC Milan president, who said: ‘He will be a club player for a few months and then leave. Beckham chose Milan.

So, the question becomes, what’s more important to Posh, clothes or the guarantee you’ll be photographed every time you go to Build A Bear? If the contract were for more than two months, I would guess it would be the latter, the woman doesn’t eat food, she eats publicity to keep her alive. But David and Victoria stick together, in the true meaning of for better or worse, never having to worry about for richer or poorer. David Beckham, and his beautiful body, explained how the couple stick together.

He said: “We have quite a lot of pressure, honestly, as a couple. But we’ve had that since we first started going out, so we’ve got used to it over the years. We have a way of working through it by looking out for each other.”

Yeah, I look out for David Beckham, too, in every Emporio Armani underwear ad I can get my hands on. I’ll leave the looking out for Posh to Becks, unless I’m walking next to her at the toy store and I’m afraid she’ll fall off her platform, weapon-spiked, heel-less, 7″, patent leather, glow in the dark, turbo-equipped shoes and onto some poor, unsuspecting child, even if it’s one of her own.

They have had a lot of problems in the past and they lasted this long so who knows.

  2. Kaiser says:

First, Posh needs to hand that Birkin bag to me right now. *threatens Posh with knife* Right now, Vicky. I want it.

Second, why is she so obsessed with doing *something* to be famous? She has barely any talent – so why can’t she call it a day on any pretenses of a career, and just settle into the *amazing* life of being a mother of three lovely boys and a wife to David Friggin’ Beckham? 🙄

Some women… they don’t know what they’ve got ’til it’s gone. Pink paradise…

  3. geronimo says:

😥 I hope not. Can’t imagine them apart or with anyone else.

  4. KateNonymous says:

Does he think that hoodie is going to keep people from figuring out who they are? Even if he kept his head down, it’s hard to miss who she is!

  5. Carrie says:

Give her credit where it’s due – she’s made a whole career out of being a fashion victim.

The gossip in the celeb-favoured salon I go to is that he is fooling around with some woman they met through Eva Longoria….

  6. daisy424 says:

    Funny write up Ceilidh
    His body…… 8)

    Carrie; Interesting

  7. Orangejulius says:

No kidding, Kaiser. She’s got all the perks, why the need to be in the spotlight?

  8. snappyfish says:

David just signed a 6 month loan agreement with AC Milan. So the Beckhams will be heading to Milan….you can’t find more of a fashion town than that.

I can’t imagine them spliting. They do spent a great deal of time apart depending on their schedules. I think the LA move was more for the glory day/cash but he found he was unhappy out of the EPL scene. I think any split rumors will dissapate in the near future.

I like her red alligator skin birkin better than the one she is carring in photo, but it is a lovely lovely bag.

  9. vdantev says:

She’s being beamed back up by the mother ship already ?

  10. KatyAlia says:

    ::Sighs::
She IS a spotlight on her own. By making you watch her heels she’s turned the spot onto herself.
You guys keep forgetting that she was the pretty spice girl & for years the mouthpiece of her seriously slow husband.
She seems to be a good mother so I don’t understand the criticism. ❓

  11. Chamalla says:

I find Posh endlessly entertaining, and as time goes on increasingly endearing. Sure, I could fit her whole person in the sleeve of the hoodie I’m currently wearing, but I can’t help but like her. She’s bold, she’s confident and she’s really, really good at marketing herself and her hubs as a brand.

I hope they don’t split, I don’t think either one of them would be nearly as interesting without the other.

  12. Trillion says:

Kaiser I LOVE Joni Mitchell. Now THERE’S a real lady with real talent. How come we don’t seem to have hardly any of those anymore?

  13. gg says:

I’m leaning whichever way makes them stop posing like wax dummies in the street.

  14. GrnMtGirl says:

    He is Gorgeous…

  15. Blahblahblahblah says:

They won’t split. They wouldn’t be anything without each other. As far as celebrity goes, they would be completely over.

  16. czarina says:

Actually, I think they won’t split because they have a solid marriage and they adore their kids.
Where is this coming from, anyway? For years she has had her career paths (most recently fashion) and he has been playing soccer. Now, suddenly, they are going in different directions?
I think Beckham got back into the European spotlight when he played for England recently, and was made a vice-president on the committee to have the 2018 (?) World Cup hosted by England.
Now the English tabloids need something to write about the Beckhams. Europeans all think Beckham coming to America was stupid, because soccer is not a big deal in North America. They all want to assume Beckham is miserable here and yearning to go back to Europe (which I highly doubt).

  17. mojoman says:

All I want to know is how on earth she managed to squeeze into those leather/PVC pants? yes she is skinny but good god that will require lots of grease and time even if I try!

  18. Carrie says:

They must find some way of building stretch into those leather leggings. And Kaiser – step AWAY from the bag: it’s mine!

  19. Larissa says:

well, i dont wanna sound like a pain in the arse BUT
the word “soccer” comes from an alteration of “assoc.”, which is an
abbreviation of “association football”!it´s stupid!lol so will ya ppl stop saying soccer already? IT´s FOOTBALL!
It´s just the same as I would start to refer to american football as NFL or basktball as NBA!!!!!
e.g. : the boys have been playing NFL the whole day!
    or
    let´s play some NBA tonite?

and btw, association football is too old school! ya better start calling it FIFA then.
    k enough!

And as far as foootball goes, I think it´s Beck´s real passion rather than just a money making, celebirty status quest and i can imagine how frustrating it can be playing football in the U.S. (am not saying living there!!!!)…
same would happen if D’Orazio´was sent to play in the Saudi Arabian league (that obviously doen´s exist!).

  20. nag says:

It has been said in the past Posh is nothing with out Beckam, Beckam is a great footballer and has a good body but they are both an empire when they are together.

How do they keep their marriage together? Posh weighs up the ‘fors and againsts’ of leaving.. once they are weighed up Posh realises what she would lose if she left him and stays.
Then they come to an agreement. He sees women on the side (rebecca loos in the past).

  21. czarina says:

nag: I didn’t realize you were intimate friends with Posh and Becks, so much so that they’ve discussed with you all the details of their thoughts and feelings and how their marraige works and what affairs David is allowed to have on the side!!
Seriously, though, in regards to your comments: what nonesense!

  22. Jagad guru says:

Give her credit where it’s due – she’s made a whole career out of being a fashion victim.

The gossip in the celeb-favoured salon I go to is that he is fooling around with some woman they met through Eva Longoria….

  23. geronimo says:

Beckham needs to train, play and keep his fitness levels up in order to remain on the England squad. The American season is just about over and this, if he signs up for it, is a six-month contract with AC Milan, beginning in January. Much ado about nothing.

  24. leigh says:

i soo love posh.. i hope they stay together..

  25. DLR says:

I think it is about time for David to consider retiring. He’s had a lot of health problems, and he’s almost 35, an age where lots of athletes are feeling the ravages of years in professional sports. There’s only so much longer he can be in soccer, and I guess he’s trying to get on the 2012 soccer team, and if it means time away from his family so be it. They’ve had lots of problems in the past, including infidelity, and they’re still together, unlike Madonna and Guy so who knows! Different strokes for different folks.

  26. far says:

I hope they stay together but about her so called “her fashion sense..” she has none,,, if I go out shopping with a few bags of money and am able to point at anything i want and buy them, I can put together fashionable outfits too…

  27. Upskt Celebs says:

I hate seeing all of these couples break up. I hope they stay together.

  28. Ter says:

I’m voting for them to stay together because they truly have made a lovely set of young men and I can’t help but feel that that is their main focus.

Kaiser, if you go back to yesterdays post you will see that I have responded. There is no animosity, I had an off day. I wasn’t going to go into it, but part of it is that I have a daughter studying in europe and she had a snipey little twerp of a customer make disparaging comments about Americans and mimicked her at her place of work. Mind you that the twerp clothed his squat pugginess in purple sweats and sported a purple bowler.
