Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux got lei’d! On Sunday, the hot and heavy duo landed on a private island in Hawaii — with traditional purple leis around their necks — for a vacation.
With the 42-year-old actress’ promotional duties for Horrible Bosses over, she and her man can soak up some R & R in paradise. Another reason to celebrate: Theroux turns 40 on August 10.
As it turns out, Theroux’s Hawaiian getaway was originally planned with Heidi Bivens, his longtime girlfriend of 14 years. Over the winter, Theroux and fashion stylist Bivens, 35, hit the island of Kauai for surfing, horseback riding, snorkling and more. And in March, Bivens gushed to pals about returning for the summer.
“She was really psyched about a Hawaii trip they’d taken and was thinking they should get property,” an insider told Us Weekly. But Theroux abruptly ended the relationship that month and soon stepped out with Aniston, his costar in the upcoming comedy Wanderlust.

As for US Weekly’s story – sounds like BS as per usual. Saying you would like to return and actually planning a vacation there are two different things (if she even said this to begin with). Did Theroux and Bivens somehow win the lotto – otherwise there is no way they were flying via private plane and to a private island there. Therefore the vacation was not something he and Bivens were planning at all. Plus do they somehow own all rights to Hawaii? Aniston has been there several times herself – most recently when filming JGWI. Since it’s a place they both have said they like, why shouldn’t they go there together now?

As a native of Hawaii, the only private island I can think of is Ni’ihau, which is off of Kauai. However, it’s not a vacation spot. It’s a private island where Hawaiian is still spoken and people try to maintain the traditional Hawaiian lifestyle. Tourists and vacationing haoles aren’t exactly welcome.

@Jana: That’s the difference – that some on here want to concede for Jolie and not Aniston as you yourself said. Jennifer has never brought up Pitt or Jolie without being asked, and neither have they. So if people are going to use that to absolve Jolie then it has to work the same way for Aniston as well.
@Kira: She didn’t do an interview with People last year – the mag used old quotes as well as new quotes from a minor co-star of hers in The Bounty Hunter to put that article together – she didn’t sit down and do an interview and talk about her life after Pitt with them. And if you think she truly wanted an article out there about her called “Jen: 5 Years After Brad” I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

Hi again Jana, yeh that’s not even similar to a retraction. It’s an op-ed piece by a public editor who disagreed with a writer’s article. That’s a public editors prerogative. Chris Hoyt no longer works for the times in any capacity, but Barnes still does. He’s hardly a tabloid journalist and has no interest in writing lies about a movie star. Where as a biased fan might have an interest in protecting their favourite actress from some perceived insult.
I have nothing against Jolie, I actually quite like her, but I also see the machinery in motion. She’s not stupid, she knows exactly what’s printed about her, and as any intelligent celebrity would do, she manipulates the press when she can to promote a positive image.
Anyway, I’ll await a link to that retraction you promised. Otherwise the entire article stands, despite you’re not approving of it.

Also, I used to be roommates with a reporter who did celeb interviews for LA Times and other rags. She would tell me about them. Basically, they’re fake. Almost every question is approved in advance by the actor or the PR. Actors then prepped their responses in advance. She called it a well-choreographed dance of fakery. Also, final mark-ups and pictures are approved, too.
Actors will revoke anything they feel is unflattering–no matter how minor! There are no suprises. And, if they hate what you write, it can mean no more access to that celeb, which often means your job. Most reporters are expendable. Actors know this, hence a lot of butt-kissing interviews. But, I thought this was common knowledge? It seems odd that people insist that Aniston is somehow above this? I don’t pretend to know her, or exactly what goes on in her interviews, it just seems unlikely that it’s always the media’s fault with her press, and never her own machinations. Just not plausible to me, anyways. 🙂

What bothered me in the exchange between abritabroad and Jana is abritabroad’s dismissal of the public editor, a person who plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the paper. The actual article about Jolie didn’t seem offensive to me since we all probably agree that public image is a crucial part of being a celebrity. Because of this, there is an expectation that the person will want to control as much as possible his/her image. I believe the conflict between the JA and AJ people has to do with the way image management is done. The AJ supporters believe that JA relies on the Pitt-Jolie family (in a way that is unflattering to them) to create an image of her that is not quite true.
And as you noted, the public editor concern did have to do with problems of using anonymous sources to dispute on-the-record sources.

A public editors job is to quibble, to play devils advocate, and to prevent the paper from printing hearsay and unconfirmed reports. He did his job here. But that is not a retraction, the newspaper never issued one, even one line hidden in the back pages would have been picked up by someone along the way.
I think that the fact that the article is still available online is proof enough that the Times stood by the story.
A lot of sources are off the record, journalist go to prison to protect unnamed informants for gods sake.

AJ has an agent..she also used to be a member of CAA..but 2007 she quit..and now she join the director and screenwrting agency..she has manager/personal assistance with the job handling her image..(she might proudly saying that she didnt have a publicist..but she has team who did the same thing with different job title..and she did admit she is a control freak..she didnt trust people easily)
This woman is smart ..she is one step ahead of most of her piers..she used international matters to enhance her profile overseas..she even choose Financial times to do her interview who didnt have anything to do with financial matter…and she is good on deflection tactic to enhance her image..the humanatarian,adopting,PDA or kids pr with shocking interview…
Either she was involve or not..the fall out of Jen married which actually made jen image was the guilty one cause of her childless position agaist Brangie with 6 kids..its one smart but kniving move!!!

Love them together. I want pictures now. It is hard to find a good man who is above 30 and is not taken. If you click, and he leaves his GF but with diginity, then there is no problem. Brangelina were mean and tacky and too public in the way they hooked up. They and their fans also tried to make Jen look bad. What if Jen gave an interview and said Heidi didn’t want kids and she was Justin’s shoulder to cry on. In any case Angelina is not really a likeable person.
