Sure, she’s moved on to a new show, “How I Met Your Mother,” but to me she’ll always be Willow from “Buffy.” Redheaded-turned-brunette comic actress Alyson Hannigan, who rose to fame in the “American Pie” movies as that nerdy but naughty girl from band camp, is expecting her first child with husband Alexis Denisof. No word on whether Alyson’s pregnancy will be written into the sitcom.
Alyson Hannigan’s husband has a little less than nine months to perfect his own How I Met Your Mother story.
The sitcom star and her hubby of five years, actor Alexis Denisof, are expecting their first child together, Hannigan’s rep, Megan Moss, told People.
The baby, whose gender has not been revealed, is due this spring.
Hannigan’s CBS show is currently in production, though it’s unclear if her pregnancy will be written into the storyline.
The 34-year-old Hannigan and the 42-year-old Denisof met when the actor joined the cast of the actress’ last cult gig, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, back in 1999.
Congrats to Alyson – I am sure she will be just as adorable with a belly bump. I do wonder how the pregnancy will fit the concept of the show, since the plot is told in reverse – but if the writers can find a way to make Britney Spears seem believable as a telephone receptionist, I’m sure they can come up with something.

The plot is not told in reverse! The plot is that the father (Ted) is telling his children in the future how he met their mother. And that story is the show.
I think they will write the pregnancy in, her character is married, so it will fit. And probably be hilarious!

Yay, I always thought they were cute. Particularly when he was on Buffy and said he wouldn’t date her while they were working on the same show, so when he went over to Angel it was okay. Most actors don’t care.

Hey I was just wondering, how come on this story it says Buffy Alum when she has been on another successful show for a couple of years? And when Gale Harold was in the accident, you guys wrote Desperate Housewives star, even though he was on Queer as Folk much longer.
When they say ‘Buffy Alum’ it means they have sort of ‘graduated’ from that character. You know how people say something along the lines of ‘Northside Alum’ after the person graduates from highschool. Alyson is known to a lot of people as Willow from her previous character.
Anyways. Congrats to Willow and Wes! I don’t care if the shows have been over for a long time, that is who they are in my mind!
Actually, the timing of her pregnancy may work perfectly with the show–in a “flash-forward” within the flash-back structure, there were hints that her character might be pregnant right around this time.
Oh gods Willow married Wesly!?! The absolute coolest member of the Buffyverse married one of the lowest denominators and is bearing his offspring! Every geeky fiber of my being is screaming in – well I’m not sure if it’s terror, loathing, joy, or just the normal fangirl urge to scream at anything that destroys cannon.

He has all the makings of a fox, but there’s something that’s keeping him from the “I’d hit it” pile in my head. Can’t quite put my finger on it. 😕
You know, in last week’s episode, they did hint that Alyson’s character Lily was pregnant in the future scene. I wonder if this had anything to do with that (I know they film each episode about two or three weeks in advance) or if it’s just some very pleasant coincidence. They’re going to be such a beautiful, adorable family!

I don’t know if I want them to write a baby into the show – babies are often fatal to good sitcoms – but I’m mighty happy for the actress. : )
