Yesterday, as I was covering the new photos of Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Suri, I was wondering why the family was in LA when it seemed like Tom was having the time of his life down in Miami (Those poor Miami hustlers – I bet they got audited. HARD.). Sure, Tom took Katie out for a “date night” Katy Perry concert (in which Katie wore one of the worst dong-repellent ensembles ever), but surely they didn’t go to LA just for a concert? Yeah, they totally did. Because yesterday, the Cruise-Holmes clan flew to NYC for Katie’s premiere. Her film Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark had it’s big red carpet premiere last night, and these are the photos. Note: Katie seems to have walked the red carpet by herself, but Tom was definitely there, and the paparazzi got lots of photos of the two of them after the premiere.
As for Katie’s style… I don’t hate the dress. It’s not the best thing ever, but it’s cute enough, especially when she pairs it with the grey cardigan. Guess who did the dress? KATIE! The dress is Holmes & Yang! It’s always funny to me that Katie fronts like she’s the second coming of Ralph Lauren when the Holmes & Yang line looks so budget. As I said, this dress is cute and everything, but if you were going to design something cute for your own premiere, why do a simple LBD?
What I do like about Katie’s premiere look: her hair looks good. I think she’s just decided to copy whatever Kate Middleton has done. And Katie’s makeup looks decent too. It’s funny, though – she looks alert and sober on the red carpet, but as soon as she’s holding hands with Tom, it’s like she becomes instantly zonked. Tom looked kind of weird last night too. What’s going on with him? His hair looks limp, he didn’t take his sunglasses off, and he didn’t walk the carpet with Katie. Is anyone else worried?

Perhaps Cruise wanted his wife to have the spotlight instead, and that is why he chose to skip the red carpet. Lot’s of celebrity couples don’t walk the red carpet together. I find nothing worrisome about it.

What I find much more interesting, was that they skipped out of the big black tie affair for The Cult, that was this past weekend in LA. All the zombie’s were there. But the Cruise’s were at Katy Perry’s show instead.
With Tom being the second coming for The Cult. It is odd that he shunned this huge party to go see a concert.
I find that far more interesting. Maybe Tom is thinking about ditching The Cult??
But Katie has started to look cute again. With the long hair and great makeup.

Tommy never wants his wife to “just have the spotlight.” LOL That was the whole ploy behind the marriage. HE (and the Co$, I’m sure) would make her a SUPAH-STAR!
Detailing on that dress is lacking. She never wears a dress without wrinkles…

I like it especially with the cardigan, it’s one of those universally flattering dresses. I’d actually buy that.
@Bubbling: I don’t know if I love the pointy toe, but I’ll take anything that isn’t like 6 inches high. I miss the early 2000s and the days of 3 inch heels.

Gee, Tommy Girl really got dressed up for his wife’s big night. He hauled out his brown “work boots” (hidden lifts an after-market item) when it was probably 85 degrees in NYC on Monday night with 80% humidity. Not saying he should’ve worn flip flops…he just looks like he’s going on a hay ride.

she looks pretty here and happy. I don’t know why she stands like that!! especially since she thinks she’s a “dancer”… maybe it’s her insecurity showing.. Her hair is beautiful and her skin and eyes looks great!! Not sure what happening with Tommy. He looks VERY uptight.. more than normal…

Speaking of Waity, she should get the number of Stepbot’s makeup artist STAT! Her makeup really works for her when she’s on the red carpet. There is a huge difference when someone else does it for Stepbot.

She looked better before her plastic surgeries (nose job, breast reduction). Now she looks old and “used up” (although part of that is probably from being married to that weirdo). So sad.

I believe there were three nights of Perry concerts in LA and that the Cruises went to the concert on Sunday.
That Xenupalloza event was on Sat night. Maybe that’s why they really were in town and just chose not to be photgraphed at the event (COS controls the photos). That would make more sense that flying to LA for a Katy Perry concert and then flying out the next day for NY.

What is very weird to me (aside from all of the other very weird things about this couple) is that in 2005, Katebot appeared on Letterman wearing a black tanktop and black skintight capris with black heels. She looked stunning and her legs looked almost bony, they were so thin. Now her trunk and arms are stick thin, but her legs seem swollen. I am mystified.

They look cute and happy together, the LBD is a safe and practical look, Katie Holmes never has worn anything extravagant, she has a classical style which I really like. She has a cute smile, she doesn’t need veneers.

I love the general mess that is Katie Holmes, but everything I have ever seen from Holmes & Yang has virtually no ‘design’ to it. Conservative color palettes, exceedingly basic cut/construction, and often executed with flimsy fabric. And then she feels it’s justified to charge over $700 for her blouses.
I get the feeling that she’s very vanilla, so I guess her ‘designs’ are reflective of that.

You can see how she LOVES the attention and that’s why she married him.
She was on her way to “end of career once the TV show that made me famous is over”.
The dress is very very plain and does not flatter her figure.

Her hair is covering the most interesting bit of the dress. You can’t see the detail in the straps–as the designer, wouldn’t you want to showcase this? Sure her hair looks great, but it detracts from the detail work. Not that much “work” went into it in the first place…

I agree with the poster who thinks she should get veneers. I remember during the batman movie thinking about how awful her teeth are. She is the only person i have ever seen that seems to have a greenish tint to their teeth. She certainly can afford sprucing up her smile.
And the pigeon toed stance is so terrible.
She is looking better lately though in the hair and make up department.

None of the clothing attributed to designs by Katy Holmes appears to be original or have a unique “point of view”. I don’t know what her target market is, but most of what I have seen is a yawn. Basic does not have to equal boring.
